Keep the stock ford cable setup at the pedal Remote mount the master cylinder with a bracket to hold the cable too then make a lever arm off a pivot to pull the cylinder actuated by the cable
Yep as commented below already exploring this idea and at the moment it's looking possible, not easy as space in engine bay to mount it all is non existent but with a battery relocate I rekon we might get it!
Why can't you use the vag clutch pedal with the integrated master and bolt it in with the 3 bolts. The clutch pipe to box and fluid feed are near enough flush with the bulkhead. You can also use the oem clutch line to box.
It's not an option unfortunately, the Ford pedal box the clutch and brake pedal all mount to one unit I can't just sack the unit of as the steering column mounts on it. Would be an insane amount of work to use the vag independent pedal, also we have a brake torsion bar the other side of the firewall the outlet to the vag master cyl would literally point straight at this if we even did manage to get it mounted. Not an option 😭
Have a look into how the mk1 golf convert the original pedal when doing a 1.8t conversion might help and dont fit a master cylinder with a reservoir mount the reservoir somewhere else, also the standard TFSI clutch master cylinder has the clutch switch built in which the ecu needs to see switching to allow the revs to drop when changing gear also for mapping in launch control etc, good luck pal
I already have the complete pedal from the donor car, but the setup on the Ford is truly horrible and would be ALOT of alterations to get the full pedal to work. Not worth the hassle. Fear not I think I have another idea in mind stay tuned to see if it works 😉
I would put the clutch cable back on like it was standard and in the engine bay where the clutch cable finished near gear box I would make a some kind box for the clutch slave cylinder with a arm and hinge that the clutch cable can pull on the slave cylinder rod and I think it will work dude and it save doing any work near turbo and under the steering wheel sorry if these mite be hard to read lol
Actually MAD you've just said that! Me and my pal have just been discussing doing EXACTLY THIS! Great minds eh. I think it Will work. Problem is I've butcherd all the oe stuff but it's cheap to replace. 😎😎😎
I just need to check space available in the engine bay as this thing is shoe horned in there and space Is of a premium EVERYWHERE. If I can spot a gap to mount the mechanism may be onto something..!
@@NAWFABZ yeah ha hope it works for u I think it will work and with your fab skills u got this dude will save a big headache with all the work under steering wheel whice looks a nightmare but will be looking forward to see how it's done dude
Seeing this has given me all kinds of flashbacks of my least favourite job on mk3 and 4 escorts,(and fiestas of the era) that awful crescent shaped nylon ratchet on the clutch pedal, when the teeth wore it would slip and pedal would fall to the floor, changing that in situ used to be soul destroying lol, I’m sure you’ll find a work around, hang on in there.
I made my own bar for the pedals. Essentially copied the original 19mm bar but machined it in two pieces , threaded together in the middle . Makes the job a lot easier . Still a pain tho
It still won't work. The issue is the pedal box and pedal are so flimsy there it too much flex trying to depress when there is clutch pressure. I do have another idea completely which may work and will make things alot stronger, I'll come back to it with a fresh mind soon 😎
There's got to be a ford with a hydraulic clutch pedal you can just bolt in the cvh was cable clutch but I'm sure the later ford gearboxes were hydraulic clutch
Non existent bud, problem is the master cylinder fouls the turbo if I try go directly behind the pedal, no space to do a reverse mount above the pedal as the Column bolts in there 😭
That's a possibility if my next idea doesn't work..I have an awesome idea in mind that may just work but yea if all else fails it will he a full pedal box with top mounted cylinders. This brings ita own issues though I'd like to keep the oem brake servo to be honest.. trying desperately to keep it as close to oem looking (minus the engine obviously) want a sleek stealth look.
Can you not just come off the pedal with more of an angle don’t want to say 90 as I take it steering column would be in the way but same shape you’ve done it just more angle or just an L? If not could move the thing behind the firewall turn it 90 degrees and have a bar going about 45 degrees from the pedal running into some sort of swivel thing like they use on pistons that are 45? Idk I’m nowhere near as inventive as you so😅
I have a killer idea that I can't take full credit for was speaking about it with a mate and I think that's the route I'm going to attempt, think version 1 is just a lost cause tbh and will never work correctly or be unreliable. Looks like I've a hole to weld up once the engine comes back out 🤣🤣
There's no success without failure mate, is what it is, you'll get there :D Looking forward to the next part
Exactly that 😎 I'll get it!

I'll check out the mk1 setup, as for the switch yes this is another issue I need to overcome. The worst part of this build for sure 😉🤣
@@NAWFABZ or go dsg 😄 🤣
@mattmckenna3589 pahahaha mate don't it crossed my mind as I was laid cramped up in the footwell contemplating my life choices 😭🤣
Carnt fab a standard mk6 7 golf clutch master cylinder complete with pedal

I was thinking exactly the same thing😂😂
@markneild8009 it may be the way we go, issue is space 😭 ie there isn't non I looked this morning May have to relocate the battery to the boot
how about a single floor mounted clutch pedal
I think I have a plan in place, stay tuned...

I can confirm it's a bloody awful job 🤣🤣 I'll get it in the end

You need a bush on the pedal and the firewall.
How much do you charge to fit upgraded ntercooler to s3 8v
Pm socials with all info and the brand of cooler you have etc etc
Your contraption must be a solid S-shape that still can swivel. But the rod must remain straight.

I think people do convert to a mk5 or 6 pedal, but I think I have a little plan in place now 😬😬
What’s the space like behind the pedal??
Non existent bud, problem is the master cylinder fouls the turbo if I try go directly behind the pedal, no space to do a reverse mount above the pedal as the Column bolts in there 😭
I do have an idea in mind to adapt the mess I've already done, I'll hit it with a fresh mind soon 😎😎
fly by wire clutch pedal
Can’t you just buy a Compbrake set up a with all the cylinders and linkages top mounted etc. not crazy money

Shame you can’t really do anything with the column 🥲…great work though mate loving the fact you’re not cutting corners! My kind of work 👍
Glad your enjoying it, think I have a solution in mind I'll see how it pans out 😬
Good stuff mate, its all about having a vision sometimes they work sometimes they don’t 🤣. I’ve got all this bollocks to come with my nova haha!
