Honestly it’s clear most handheld devs weren’t fully ready for hybrid console and it’s shows. Links Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom also had their fair share of chug and like the Pokemon games they were made by a studio that were previously handheld so I just see the Switch as a major challenge for the handheld division but hopefully they’ll all have more support this next system. As for my favorite game this gen, that’s probably Fire Emblem Three Houses
@@DDKoD I definitely noticed the chugging with Links Awakening but they've definitely improved with Echoes bar the occasional one. I've heard very good things, haven't gotten into the series myself yet
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in 2017, Xenoblade Chronicles 1: Definitive Edition in 202 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in 2022 were all amazing games. i can't wait to see what Monolith Soft does next on Switch 2. also the Xenoblade Developer, Monotlith Soft, worked on Zelda BOTW and TOTK, Animal Crossing and Splatoon btw. if you like any of those games, particularly Zelda BOTW and TOTK, then you should definitely check out the Xenoblade Chronicles games. it's one of my favourite series of all time.
I enjoyed this video a lot. It brought back some good memories from this system and also made me realize that i missed out on some stuff. Thank you for sharing your thoughts & take my sub!
enjoyed the video; one thing I couldn't help but notice on the switch is the sheer decline in diffculty in the games. games like odyssey, pikmin 3-4 are comically easy compared to their n64/gamecube predecessors. really feel like nintendo is trying to reach into a younger demographic with these new games. nintendo has always been known as more of a G - PG console but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed with the lack of difficulty in some of these new games.
@@iWearCapesIRL Totally understand you, I found this especially with pokemon, The exp share and other things really babied the games quite a lot. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed!
@@RetroRevivalShow yeah agree with pokemon. i played lets go pikachu because i was a huge fan of yellow growing up. like that one. then played sword/shield and found myself not using half of the "new" mechanics just bc i thought they made the game so much easier in an already easy game.
@@iWearCapesIRL Yeah totally, stuff like difficulty options would be such a good addition to the series. Casual mode for the younger fans and classic mode for the fans of the older games.
tbf odyssey's goal isn't to be difficult, like at all, it's a collectaton and the focus of the game is mostly on adventuring weird kingdoms with new folks, there's a few challenging sections still and it's nice it's there but it's clear it's not as much the focus of the game as 64 or Sunshine
@@KevZ7. yeah agreed. Nintendo doesn’t make challenging games anymore unfortunately. Is there a Nintendo game that isn’t a deep cut that is challenging on switch?
My thoughts on WWHD and TPHD is that they didn't and won't come to the switch because they decided to save them for the Switch 2. They're going to have them at 4k 60fps and will use them to fill in the gap between new mainline Zelda releases.
Windwaker definitely doesn't need too much more improvements from the Wii u version but it'd be great to see twilight princess get some significant improvements visually etc.
I think so too, mostly because we will have a 40 years Zelda anniversary in about year and a half. And with brand new 3D and 2D Zeldas from last and this year they have to focus mostly on remakes and remasters. WW and TP will come in handy then and also probably this Ocarina remake that we hear rumors from time to time
Favorite Switch games for each year 2017 -- Breath Of The Wild 2018 -- Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion (Sorry, Smash is not my cup of tea) 2019 -- Luigi's Mansion 3 2020 -- Pikmin 3 Deluxe (It got me into the Pikmin franchise) 2021 -- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury 2022 -- Splatoon 3 (Though I really enjoyed Metroid Dread and Prime Remastered) 2023 -- Tears Of The Kingdom (Though there were other great games too, like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pikmin 4, and Super Mario Bros Wonder)
Ynow i really cant say witch game is my favorite cause i love almost everythin from 2017 to 2020 and i love a to. Of stuff post 2020 but i love the early days of switch most i will have to say breath of the wild or mario Odyssey
As a launch year, That first year of switch will be hard for them to beat with a switch 2. Botw, Mario kart, rabbids, and Odyssey along with stuff like Xenoblade and Splatoon 2, pokken and more it was stacked
@@Radioman1.0 No problem at all. I use Vegas Pro 14 for video which I got on steam (Keep an eye on Humble bundle and steam sales for discounts) For recording and editing audio I use Dark Audacity. For capturing gameplay I use the Game Capture software from Elgato that I use with my capture card.
I quite liked breath of the wild and Tears of the Kingdom, spent 600 hours in Tears. But they do come up short in a lot of areas. The most disappointing areas are the dungeons. I'm not a fan at all of these shorter, more basic, terminal activation, boring ass dungeons. Doing the same exact task 5 times in a row, same in every single dungeon from Breath to Tears... that was so boring. The Water Temple in Tears was the worst dungeon of any 3D Zelda. I think they meant to have an upside down mechanic in that dungeon like they did with Stone Tower Temple. This is because of the 2 upside-down Elephant statues at the start of the actual Dungeon, and underneath the island where you fight the boss, there is an upside down Zonai shrine thing. They very clearly didn't have time to finish whatever upside-down mechanic they were working on for that Temple. It's extremely short and boring. The Wind Temple and the approach to it, and the music, and the epic fight. That's by fucking far the best dungeon out of Breath and Tears. I really really hope they focus on bringing things back to the way they were with the dungeons. Like The Arbiter's Grounds, Ancient Cistern, Lanayru Mining Facility, Snow Peak Ruins. Those are peak Zelda. Also the korok seeds were like terrible. They should have developed that a lot more. It was so boring after like the first 100 UGH. I really wish they would make more character too, like in Twilight Princess, more involved story and side story. And why the hell didn't they do an actual Spirit temple in Tears? The depths felt very under utilized. Why was there no rebuilt Castle town in Tears? The whole thing needed to be fleshed out more, they needed more time.
Yeah totally get you when it comes to Dungeons. I'd love to see them find a middle ground between the more open world dungeons and the traditional top down ones for sure. It'll be interesting to see how different the next 3D instalment in the series is. If they'll keep the same art style or move on from it etc.
I think you're way too optimistic about the hardware. From what's been leaked it looks like it's nowhere near steam deck levels of power, much less surpass it
Oh absolutely possible to be fair, I'll be cautiously optimistic until we know for sure. It feels like there's a different leak every other week, it's hard to tell what it will end up actually being. Cheers for commenting, hope you enjoyed the video regardless.
I saw rumours that the performance will be similar to PS4 or PS4 Pro. If that's true, I'm totally fine with that. PS4 games looks MUCH better on 4K TV than Switch games (and if the Switch 2 will have an upscaling too, that will be overkill). Just imagine how beautiful the first party Nintendo games will be. Can't wait to see it!
@@joelsytairo6338 Very fair 😅 It was one I definitely considered giving a section to because I've really enjoyed what I played, but stuff came up at the time and I really need to get back to it.
