Daniel Elij I got a notification of your comment but it’s not showing up here 🤷🏼♂️. I do apologize for the misunderstanding and get why you commented that. I think we both understand what we got into with this camper and I was just making sure that was made clear to him. Which I think I got that across. Thanks for the support and watching out for fellow wolf pups! Haha enjoy the trailer!
Thanks Hank! That’s exactly what I was looking for. Good tips and simple upgrades that I wouldn’t have thought of until I encountered it out camping. I’m looking forward to your other videos of the camper. Thanks again!
It’s a great little camper without breaking the budget! Thanks for watching and check out my other stuff for little upgrades and fixes in this trailer.
Thanks for this video! We are looking at this type of floor plan. Watching your other videos on it now, looks like your most recent teases parting ways with it so watching that next! :D

I have one, it’s my first as well. I think you are spot on with the review. It’s a great value for us. We were not sure how the family would take to camping so the investment made sense. All in all it’s a decent purchase
Thank you for the informative pros and cons. Im considering one as a first time camper. Im rethinking the size now but I like the size ,quality and price point
AWESOME update video! We are super interested in this RV so we really appreciate this. Are you planning on doing any camping vlogs during your week long excursion, that wold be way cool! Have a great rest of your day and thanks again!
Thanks for the info. Going to pick my new 2020 Wolfpup 16BHS Saturday. It has the fold down storage rack on the back, Deeper round sink, recessed 2 burner stove with glass cover/Back splash, 2 TV mounts. This floor plan is common in many Travel trailers this size. But this Wolf Pup has so many nice features with it that the others do not. Items like Bigger Fridge, Steps that actually touch the ground, TV mounts, deeper round sink, power awning , Light up Speakers, recessed burners with glass cover. Arms that hold the bed up when your putting away or picking up storage. A big Con is that there is no big sink , vanity, cabinet storage or mirror in the bathroom. I will improvise on that though. You should have at least a 1 year warranty on this unit. Not sure how long you had it but You probably voided the warranty when you put the black tank flush in. Another upgrade to definitely do is add a better mattresse on the queen bed. I do like how you added the 2nd propane tank with cover.
Brandon Boudreax thanks for the comment! Yes the 2020 version of this camper included some better features that I love like the fold down storage, deeper sink and recessed stovetop. Hope y’all enjoy! I am now over a year so the warranty is done with but in all honesty I stopped caring about the warranty after dealing with my local dealer refusing to work on it and not being able to find anyone to do any warranty work and it became a hassle. Which is why I started working on everything myself. I explain a bit more in my power converter video I have posted. I appreciate you watching and taking time to write!
I bought a new Wolf Pup 3/20/2019 one of the reasons I bought it was for the large storage capacity, under the bed, and under the bottom bunk. Having said that I too miss a larger dinette, but most campers eat outside. One thing that really pisses me off is the sharp corner cabinet above the sink area, nearly took my eye out.Im not too keen on the step as unless it perfectly level its hard to shut the door, Do you know , not all Pups are built the same , sinks are sometimes different, mine has the outlets for the T.V etc on the end of the kitchen cabinet, others its above the bed, which is a better place for it and you can mount a TV there. I still love the trailer, BUT in June we took a trip from Ohio to Arizona. Driving along I,70 in Indiana the water storage tank fell out onto the freeway. So for 2 1/2 weeks could only use full hook up sites. Well on the way home I pulled into the F,River factory and they were very helpful and put a new tank in. Plus they put 4 new jacks on as 1 of the original ones was rusty. Hes a tip, if you drive rt I70 ind take it easy, I have pulled trailer in every state apart from Washington State and never been on such a terrible road surface. As for an electric jack I am 78 and still crank up the trailer by hand , dont be lazy, i saw an electric 3500lb front tongue jack for $99.99 at Harbor Freight this week.
George Lee thanks for watching. Yea I’ve noticed some variations in different wold pups. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of a water tank falling out so now I better go double check all the bolts on mine just to make sure! Haha.
We have a 2019 16 FQ wolf pup and did some modifications to it right from the get go. The sharp corners you mention were easily fixed by getting soft plastic safety corners that glue on the ends. I kept banging my head on the sharp edges too. I never heard about the water tank defect but I wonder if the straps were installed wrong and if you had a full tank of water. I usually keep it 1/4 full when driving long distances. I love the Moreride steps but I don't like putting them inside the coach especially when there wet or dirty.
Phil C. Thanks for watching! That’s a great idea for the corners. I’m sure we will be doing that ASAP lol. The last couple times I’ve filled the water tank up to go dry camping and have had no issues and yea I agree with the dirty or wet steps
I have a 2019 16 FQ Same problem with the sharp corner, same solution, got my corner pads at Walmart in baby department. Cheap , matches interior, Put one on the corner of the bed as well
Thanks for watching. They are great little campers! Cheyenne camping center in Walcott Iowa still seems to have the best price for new and they are in stock so if it’s not too far give them a call and mention to John that RotoCityTech sent ya 😀. We don’t get anything but the more people mention maybe in the future we can team up. Anyways yes we loved our wolf pup and highly recommend.
I just looked it up. Really does look nice. Only thing I see missing is that cargo door for the storage access under the folding bunk. It’s a necessity for us for sure.
We just bought the 2022 16bhs and the 1st mod was removing the shelf by the bed to fit a full size queen mattress in there. I'm 6'2" so room in bed is precious to me LOL
Congrats! Yes that’s a popular mod for sure and we even thought about it a few times but being just 5’10” I didn’t see the need haha. Any taller yea I’m with you! Enjoy the wolf pup!
Great video! We are looking to downsize from a 26’ Jayco jay flight. Some of the cons you brought up were some concerns I never even thought of so these are now things we have to take into consideration. With 2 kiddos and 2 80lb pups, the space and storage of our Jayco is nice to have but my 4Runner can’t tow it so we always have to take hubby’s tundra and it is roughly 50’ with the trailer and truck. Harder to maneuver with that long of a setup.
Thanks for watching! Glad we could help y’all out. Yea that would be a lot in a wolf pup 16bhs but doable I suppose. If you want one the 4Runner can still tow I would check out the wolf pup 17jg. It’s the same layout but the dinette is on a slide and it’s still under the max tow of the 4Runner but same length.
Great video ! I have a wolf pup 16 FQ it has the rear fold down rack carries 200 lbs. and the clothes hanging closets, also I noticed maybe because of being a BH version there is no sink and vanity in your bathroom. So shaving and washing hands in the rest room is out. I like the three piece bathroom. I did purchase a powered tongue jack Big Horn 3500 Lb. it works great, 139.00. My hand crank stripped the gears getting the camper off my hitch. I towed with a full sized Ford Expedition EL V8 and being a light weight camper as they say it was a handful when at highway speeds on windy days and lots of trucks on the road...... matter of fact it’s down right dangerous! After my first trip of 60 miles in weather I got my equalizer leveler, anti sway system. It was a night and day difference on towing with it. Much more stable, level and safer........ i can’t believe the dealers don’t tell you it should be added to tow better and safer. It makes for a way less stressful drive to and from a fun camping trip...! My finds that need attention are, gas shocks for the overhead cabinet doors for when searching for things, if they would stay up searching two handed is better than one. Also the bed storage is a queen sheet of plywood it’s heavy and getting things out would be safer and easier if the gas shocks were on the bed frame also. The stock mattress is terrible imo, I’m getting a new one soon a bit thicker. for one or two nights it’s ok but after being on it for hours it gets flattened and all you feel is the wood base. But for a small budget and easy towing rigged properly it’s hard to beat. In fact for all my travels not having to hotel and eat out, I’m saving enough it’s really paying for itself. At events I go to I don’t have to travel in and out, I can stay onsite at these places. If I need to get to town I can easily unhook the camper and go. I may work on a video one day myself for review of my 2017 WolfPup 16 FQ. Thanks for your insight.
Me and my wife purchased the 16FQ in 2019. We bought it specifically for my wife to stay in due to her job being 60 miles from our residence. This saved us in vehicle fuel and wear and tear on the vehicle itself. Plus saved her two hours drive time on top of a 12 hour work shift. She stays 3 or 4 days straight at a time. We have experienced the same problems but it’s nothing we couldn’t overcome. We purchased a mattress topper for the bed and additional propane tanks for the colder winter months. A tank usually lasts us 3 to 4 days at a time during really cold peaks and then we rotate them. We’ve had minor water leaks twice. And the biggest problem I’ve had so far is the underbelly tarp that was stapled in preventing a person from being able to work on anything underneath without cutting it.
@@tmoore8633 where are the water leaks you found. ? I had one and found the connections behind the toilet under the panel that hides the plumbing. And for all those that don’t know the roof will leak where the Dicor lap seal is across the roof where the metal front meets the roofing material. The screw on frame that holds it down is above the roof by an inch at least and the sun in Florida really cooked the dicor. It split and cracked letting water penetrate the roof joint down into the camper. Eterna Bond was my fix, will see what happens.
Looking at a new Wolf Pup 16 BHS. Did you find yourself using up the propane from the one tank pretty quick? We usually do just a few day trip, which sounds about like what you had done so far from the video.
Thanks for watching! I didn’t think I ran out very fast at all. In fact we just did week long trip and didn’t use one while tank. I mainly upgraded to a two tank rack because I already had two tanks at the house.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes I did. It was a hard video to film and I was running out of time but it was super simple. Here is the link th-cam.com/video/06ZseuA4Iz4/w-d-xo.html
Oh another thing I want to do is put a hanging rod at end of bottom bunk. We put a hook at end of over cabinet wall where we hang jackets on a hanger. We also bring and end table and sit at side of bed but I looked up other tables that are S shape and fit under the mattress but think you can make something. We stole the TV tray in beside the space of bed and back of dinette. I think could do something with that. Small flip down table on long legs? Came back. Watched a 2019 review on the non bunk model and they have improved a few things. All our cabbies open to roof but no gas hinge so we had to make a prop. The 2019 had sideways doors. Also ive seen people open up the under bed and dinette storage. Order extra doors or put cargo nets. Our plywood for bed doesnt open up.
Thanks for watching! I love the JG17. It wasn’t out yet when I bought this or we probably would have it. Same floor plan but bigger dinnete and a slide. Enjoy the camper! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I just picked up a '17 16BHS and plan on towing with my 4Runner. Any issues? I plan on getting a WDH and brake controller. Any modifications to your 4runner? I have some upgraded coils and shocks so hoping those help with the tongue weight a little bit.
Congrats on the purchase! Our 4Runner has the 4.0 v6 and it actually did a really good job. You’re on the right track with weight distribution and brake controller. I would also add some anti sway along side it. We did no upgrades to the 4Runner but I’d recommend sliding the transmission over to manual mode and keep out out of 5th gear while cruising. We kept it in 4th and ran about 60-65 mph
Thanks for watching! Yes the dinette folds down to a bed and we ended up getting a thing that hangs over the bathroom door with hooks as well as building a medicine cabinet with a bar to hang things as well. That video will be up soon.
Love your videos, very thorough and simple. One of the main reasons we pulled the trigger on ours is from watching your pros/cons video on the 16bhs. Looking forward to the backup camera and electric jack tutorial. We plan on adding the second propane and battery disconnect right away on ours.
Thank you! That’s great to hear. I also have filmed and installed the backup camera so I only need to edit and upload that video. I’ve yet to purchase the electric jack.
Hello! Wanted to see your insights on how your 4-Runner have done with towing the Wolf pup 16bh? We have a 2016 highlander and wanted to get the updated Wolf pup 16bh
Thanks for watching and reaching out! 4runner has 5,000 towing capacity and for towing the wolf pup it got the job done. We used a weight distribution hitch, anti sway and an electronic brake controller which I would say are all must have pieces of equipment. I keep it out of 5th gear by switching transmission into manual mode and cruise in 4th gear about 65mph. I would advise getting some towing mirror extensions and backup camera. Also just be really mindful in windy conditions especially while being passed by another vehicle. Overall if you heed these tips it should be smooth sailing if you are just extra careful and pay super close attention to everything on the road. Look way up the highway to prevent any sudden reactions. I’m not sure your highlander towing capacity but I’d say it needs to at least by close to 5,000 pounds to do this safely
Hi Hank! These are great tips for the towing capacity! Thank you. My highlander does have a 5,000 lb towing capacity and we will look into installing all three measures with the anti-sway bar, equalizer hitch and trailer break module. Have you had to do change out any type of transmission, break rotaries, etc. due to heavier pull on your 4-runner more frequently?
I have not. If you don’t go into manual (standard) mode on transmission and keep it out of overdrive I’ve heard some people have hurt the transmission. Will the assist of trailer brake controller and trailer brakes it eases wear on the 4Runner. It will wear faster but I’ve not ran into any yet. If you talk to a local RV place or U-Haul location they can set you up with the perfect setup by giving them the trailer weight
@@RotoCityTech I believe that ac unit you got there is a 13500 btu ? . Also the fridge and the stove run on propane correct ? One more question sorry but to be able to run like the stereo and lights and not the ac that Honda generator I would be fine ?
It is 13.5k btu correct. So yes that generator would work for anything else in the camper just fine. The fridge is dual fuel so propane and electric. The newer ones are no longer propane powered tho. Just 12v and electric. The stereo can be run off the battery no problem as well same with the lights. Also you can get what is called easy start by micro air and install that to be able to run the AC on that size generator. I’ve not done this tho myself
Don’t take this the wrong way, but you’ll have this for a few years and then be ready to get a different one. Forrest River preys on first time camper buyers and builds these very cheaply and hides the quality issues with nice appliances. Please, check your roof monthly as the side plastic trim on the exterior tends to buckle and will allow water to enter. Crawl underneath and make sure you tie up wires and seal any small possible entry points with foam. Just trying to help.. Happy Camping!
IamBrandon thanks for watching and for the tips. I don’t think I’d say they prey on new buyers necessarily. One should be aware of the quality of a $11,000 new camper...having grown up with campers it’s a given that with time many issues will pop up but these tips you mentioned are for sure preventative measures we all should apply. 👍🏻👍🏻
RotoCityTech while I agree that one should be weary of an 11k camper, not all are mechanically inclined or handy like you and myself. They push these stick and tin campers out very quickly. As you know being around campers for so long, you really got to keep an eye on the seals and have a tube of caulk ready with these cheaper ones! I enjoyed your insight and actually love the upgrades you made and look forward to seeing what else you do. Personally, I like spending a few extra thousand and getting aluminum framing and fiberglass exterior. Keep making vids man, looking forward to seeing more updates.
Hello again, I was looking at a video of the 2020-21 PUP they have added a small fridge near the door, the small door opens out like a table to use like a shelf. also the sink and stove are much better. Check it out.
Thanks for watching. This one does not have a slide out. They do make this same floor plan where the dinette slides out tho. That model is called the wolf pup 17JG.
I just bought this camper, and it is me and my little girl. It is big enough for the two of us, but I could not imagine a family of 5? Btw I haven't picked up my camper yet and I hav already got a great idea for a small clothes rack :)
Congrats on the purchase!! Y’all are gunna love the camper life I’m sure of it. It’s fun to be creative and find solutions as well. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@RotoCityTech can’t complain too much ... I was burned out in 2015 from the Valley Fire. This is a roof over my head that I am grateful to have! I just don’t have anyone trustworthy to work on things. In this area, when you hire out a job, often you end up losing more than your money from the THIEVES.
@@kittygonzalez2827 sorry to hear this. Yea it’s really hard to find quality people to work on these things which is why I just try to mostly do it myself. Can be frustrating but very rewarding.
2023 Wolf Pup 16 TS owner here, what a joke. I am a single guy, never loaded the RV to capacity ( I don’t carry water) just some clothes and food. I was headed to Lake Tahoe at the end of August when my Inferior “cast” aluminum rim literally blew up. I never ran over anything or even heated up my brake drums. I was traveling on a flat area of hay 20 when my rim blew up, instantly. I had full coverage insurance, they wanted to have me file a claim, but because there was no accident no can do. Because it’s a manufacturing defect. The “wonderful” free towing took 2.5 days of me sitting on the edge of the bay before they had a con artist tow company tow me to my maximum distance of 100 miles. Zero dealers in a radius greater than 100 miles would allow my trailer on their lot. The place where I bought the trailer also refused to fix the problem. They referred me to the Manufacturer. Let me be clear here, the rim blew up into hundreds of small shrapnel pieces of aluminum. And, the shock load of the trailer instantly loosing the rim caused the axle to break and the leaf springs to be severely damaged. The company has never called me back. I ended up at a gas station for another 3 days. Totally dissatisfied and disappointed with Forest river and the entire RV experience. This is a 2023 that was just over 6 months old. This was my baby, I washed it every week just to keep the dust off her, it was immaculate before this happened, now it’s been sitting in my driveway for over a month and no one is willing to do anything for me. Are we living in the Twilight Zone? Confused, sad and totally dissatisfied. Looking to get thru to Forest River.
Okay so this experience sounds horrible! I feel for you because yes these companies and dealers can be such a hassle to deal with. This is my second forest river product in 6 years and I’ve never experienced anything to this level. It does seem like a manufacturing defect which can be difficult to deal with. Obviously. I cannot recommend Cheyenne camping center in Walcott Iowa enough when it comes to dealers and if you can handle the drive they treat their customers the absolute best but never the less here you are. I wish I could help and maybe someone from forest river sees this and I’m not sure where you live but if it’s near Amarillo Texas hit me up and I’d love to help.
We bought a new WolfPup 16hs is June. The outdoor and indoor speakers will not play off our dvd player if we run it thru the Furion radio. Dealership is giving the run around. Additionally the outdoor HDMI is not working. Tank sensors seem to not work accurately either. Other than these issues we love it. Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks for watching! Well I never tried to run a DVD player thru the speakers but I’d make sure and see if the out door speakers are not muted. I believe choose some two and then hold the power button to turn on and off the mute. The hdmi I’m guessing is just not plugged in. I’d start by looking in the upper cabinet behind the false wall on the left side and trace the cable. As far as the sensors I’ve never had an issue but it’s gotta be a wire unplugged behind the sensor or possibly a fuse blown.
Great video! I too have an FJ Cruiser I plan on pulling this with...any issues with pulling it? I'm sure the MPGs plummet (If that's even possible :-) ) Thanks for posting!
Michael Graham thanks for watching! I’ve yet to pull it with my FJ only the 4Runner. I just installed the RV type plug in my FJ and plan to pull it soon for a weekend trip. I can let you know when that’ll happen. It’s a bit shorter than the 4Runner I think and less aerodynamic so I’m sure MPG will might even be in the single digits. Lol
Michael Graham very cool! Yea let me know. As long as you have weight distribution, anti sway and electronic brakes I’m sure you’ll be fine. Keep transmission in manual and out of overdrive so only in 4 max and under 65 mph. You should be good. That’s what I do in the 4runner
Michael Graham also I’m seeing that the FJ wheelbase is 4 inches shorter so anti sway I’d highly recommend and your camper shows a gross weight of 4,999 lbs so you are right at the limit. Just take your time
Thanks for watching. Well I have a truck now. At the time we just had a 4Runner which was a bit limited in space but now yes hauling the other stuff is easier
The17 rp does NOT have cabinets! One over the stove. No drawers ...1 storage area over the couch . No closet, no dinette. Too big of a toilet! Difficult for a 110 lb female to shower. The kitchen sink is a joke, and the stovetop is a pain. Very odd storage. Black and gray tank are ok. The roof vents both broke with acorns! Still working on replacement. Radio stopped working last winter. My power awning flew off during a wind storm when I had to evacuate without warning! You’re lucky the toilet isn’t in the shower! “
Thanks for watching. Wow yea that one sounds like it has a lot to compromise on. I’ll have to look up that model. I just looked it up. It’s because that’s the toy hauler model so the focus is on room for toys not really comfort.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Oh yea that’s for sure. We just go to camping world to be able to walk into the campers and then go to our choice of dealer 🤣

Thanks for watching! Hmmmmm I’ll have to look into this TANGO myself! Thanks.
RotoCityTech thanks!! I’ll check that one out.
Thanks for your insight.
harleyhiker I enjoy it not to big it’s just right, I’ve owned it since 2017,longest trip towing one way was about 800 miles, Live in Florida.
All great tips! I agree about the equalizer hitch. More people need to know about them. Thanks for watching and replying to the video.
Did you do a video on the black water flush install?
Great video feller
Thanks for watching! Appreciate it.
Thanks
Thanks for the video. I'm about to pick up a new 2021 JG17 Black Label in the next few days.
Thanks for watching! I love the JG17. It wasn’t out yet when I bought this or we probably would have it. Same floor plan but bigger dinnete and a slide. Enjoy the camper! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Nice
Awesome video thank you. Question, can the table be converted to sleep 1 more person ? And did you ever consider putting hooks or drawer in bathroom ?
Thanks for watching! Yes the dinette folds down to a bed and we ended up getting a thing that hangs over the bathroom door with hooks as well as building a medicine cabinet with a bar to hang things as well. That video will be up soon.
With a Wolf Pup you will get more than you pay for!👍
Thanks for watching! I agree. I’m a huge fan of wolf pup and all of the Cherokee campers now.
Can you share where u bought the little bathroom stand you have?
Thanks for watching! My wife bought that years ago from TJ Maxx. Used it in the house and then thought it would fit nice in the camper.
RotoCityTech thanks I’ll have to keep an eye out
Love your videos, very thorough and simple.
RotoCityTech thank you again. We have a 2021 model on deposit right now. Just wanted to make sure all is in order before we make that investment. 🧐
Congrats and happy camping! Feel free to reach out whenever on here, Instagram or Facebook!
Question can a Honda generation 2200 work well with that ac you got on that tv trailer ?
Rv
Thanks for watching. I think you’d need a bigger generator. From what i understand you need something like 2700 watts
@@RotoCityTech sorry for all this questions I just bought one but it’s a 2016 model . Knew to the rv life . Thank you very much !
IamBrandon yup I’m right there with ya. I appreciate you reaching out!
Did I miss what year this unit was?
This was a 2018
Hello again, I was looking at a video of the 2020-21 PUP they have added a small fridge near the door, the small door opens out like a table to use like a shelf. also the sink and stove are much better. Check it out.
I will check it out
Is it a compressor fridge or 3 way
This one is powered by gas or electricity only
Any information on the black tank flush?
Thanks for watching! Here is the video of the installation. Pretty easy to install this one. th-cam.com/video/06ZseuA4Iz4/w-d-xo.html
One question....does that have the slide out?
Thanks for watching. This one does not have a slide out. They do make this same floor plan where the dinette slides out tho. That model is called the wolf pup 17JG.
I just bought this camper, and it is me and my little girl. It is big enough for the two of us, but I could not imagine a family of 5? Btw I haven't picked up my camper yet and I hav already got a great idea for a small clothes rack :)
Congrats on the purchase!! Y’all are gunna love the camper life I’m sure of it. It’s fun to be creative and find solutions as well. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Ahhh my taillend has a huge back door that lays down to drive toys up and in.
Yea which is neat if that’s what you want. Sucks you’ve had so many issues tho
We just looked at one today can you tell us how much you paid ?
We bought it in Iowa and it was the cheapest new one we could find. $10,800 but I think that dealer has raised the price since we bought a year ago.
What year?
How long is it inside?
Probably looking at about 19-20 feet on the floor
Lol
@@RotoCityTech I'm sure! Safety is my only concern. I'm buying a 17 JG Black Label Wednesday, so I'll let you know how the FJ does.
Just take your time
@@michaelgraham9070 Hey Michael, what's the story on the JG? I have a 5k tow limit and want the JG as well.
Good review.
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Invest in a tripod, to keep the camera steady. love the video, but the movement
Thanksgiving to watching. I have since invested in one and use it more.
It’s 30000 Canadian dollars for 2021 one....
Thanks for watching. Dang that seems pretty high!
Con low payload single axle trailers all. Con 2 person dinette.
Con no interior storage
Con no hanging wards
Steven Brogna thanks for watching and commenting!
That's why u havetruck to haul everything else..
Thanks for watching. Well I have a truck now. At the time we just had a 4Runner which was a bit limited in space but now yes hauling the other stuff is easier
Mine came with the Rack on the back.
George Lee wish mine had come with that!
@@RotoCityTech Harbor freight sells an alloy one for about $99.
