- Yep, I'm giving away my old solar controller for free ! After Installing my 1000W inverter and upgrading my solar controller I decided I would give away the old one. Go to 10:14 in the video for more details. Or just watch the whole thing - it's REALLY interesting !
I also had a chance to help out some real cruisers as they were passing through my bend of the river - Ben, Tambi and Molly from Sailboat Story. If you're not watching their channel you need to. They are such awesome people !!! And they are true Bahamas veterans. They are on their 5th season so they definitely know the ropes and knots. Ben and I had a chance to talk about what's important and what's not when it comes to getting out there. He is chock full of super sage knowledgeable wisdomly good advice. I came out of it with my own little take on cruising philosophy which I gladly share with all of you who patiently watch my mediocre videos.
Thank you so much Ben (and Tambi and Molly !). You really helped improve my attitude and my motivation is kickin' along at hull speed right now !

I strongly suggest installing a proper voltmeter such as a Victron Smartshunt. You will want to keep tabs on your battery charging and discharging. It also shows on the app. Nice installation, but I can see you adding more solar.
@@boondog8504 I seriously considered doing that but - what I have found is that the Victron app for the solar controllers let's me know what state of charge I get to. So I know that when I'm in "absorption" phase I'm at about 80 percent. I've discovered that's all the info I really need. I can see that on average what I have coming in is more than what goes out. So for me...it's enough. 👍

Well, the mast steps are the next project ! And that's one I'm actually looking forward to. I really want to get to the top of the mast and see how things are up there.
