Go back to the 70's, 80's and 90's, there were these officers and men from the Special Actions Prisons Unit.The name SAPU sends shivers amongst the hard core inmates in the than Changing Prison, Queens Town,Medium Security Prison.There were many prisons,including RTC( Jalan Lembah Bedok).Many incidences but SAPU came on tops.high criminal escorts to courts and hospitals.There was a case in RTC. during the 80's where the inmates captured a warder on duty( NRB Block), SAPU was activated and freed the warden unharmed and the inmates ,tranfered to Changing Prison..SPEAR, has not faced these kinds of real life incidences but I believe they will act accordingly but no where near SAPU.Salute to SPS and I hope the Government will pay special thanks to the SAPU UNIT, PTT and the Gurkha Contingent.As a member of SAPU, what we went through those days was second to None.
