- I'm pretty sure that Hermosa Beach is my new favorite beach in California, after watching this walking tour down "the strand" you might agree 😀. Let's take a walk from Hermosa Beach down to the Aquarium at the Manhattan Beach Pier.

I enjoyed your walking tour of The Strand. I grew up in that area and know it well. In the mid 70's my ant was the mayor of Hermosa. Nice place to live if you can afford it. An affordable way to live very close to The Strand is by a boat and put it in King Harbor in Redondo Beach. You could just live on the boat and your slip fee is affordable. Cheapest way to live in a beautiful and unbelievable expensive place.

Hey Michael, Really loved your walking & talking tour of "The Strand" from Hermosa Beach to Manhattan Beach!!! As a former Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach & El Segundo resident, the "Beach Cities" & the South Bay area of Los Angeles will always be "My Home in My Heart!!!
Your walk down "The Strand" brought back sooooooo many Awesome memories of walking, jogging & biking down "The Strand"!!!! Way too many to type out here in the comments section... "The Strand" was a major part of my life in California!!!
At 22:20 the Big Grey House with the Bright Blue Awnings on the corner right before you go up the stairs is the famous Beach House that was filmed in the TV Show Beverly Hills 90210 when Kelly & Donna moved to beach for the Summer!!!
I can personally confirm that living in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach & El Segundo is the best quality living in California!!! I was 100% happy living there & the only reason I left was because I got priced out & decided to give Florida a try which is where I have been living for the last 3 years.
There is only one California & there is only "One California Vibe & California Attitude & California Atmosphere & California Lifestyle & California Scenery" that cannot be duplicated!!!
On your next trip to Los Angeles, I highly recommend attending an outdoor concert at the famous "Hollywood Bowl"!!!! Attending a concert at the "Hollywood Bowl" is a "Classic LA" thing to do & an absolute must do!!! And what everyone does, is they pack a nice picnic basket with food & wine & go there 2-3 hours before the concert starts & have an awesome picnic party inside the venue in all the various picnic areas!!! The outside amphitheater is built into the side on the Hollywood Hills.... Just an overall Awesome experience!!! It is very festive & soooooo much FUN & soooooo very classic LA!!! Cheers!!!

Those purple flowered plants that you enjoyed are called Ice Plant. We used to have a large area of our yard covered in them. So beautiful!

@@MichaelBordenaro Hahaha. You had reminded me of my walks there in Hermosa and yes Redondo Beach as well. I have family and friends from Santa Monica down passed San Diego. I love the beach a lot as well. And living two, three or four blocks east of the beach can give you a nice not as expensive condo or home and apartment. Hahaha, yes, you have to hunt for it!!😁

@@MichaelBordenaro I finally watched this whole video. Sheesh, life threw me a curveball, and am just now catching up. This area looks so nice! I would love a house this close to the beach but that walking traffic so close to the property would make me not wanna sit outside on my porch area. I'd need a bit more of a buffer between me and the people because it doesn't seem private or quiet enough. LOL
@@TesoroDelSol Glad you got through it, this area is so cool! Hope all is ok with you. You definitely need to be open to chatting with all passerbys if you live right on the beach here. But the community here does seem to be like that. Very open, laid back. Seems like everyone knows everyone kinda place.

Michael, you really have to come down here to Orange County. If you are impressed with Hermosa Beach, you will absolutely love Newport and Laguna Beach. Not only do we have beautiful beaches down here, but we also have canals almost like Fort Lauderdale and we have the marina a couple of minutes away. Oh, and they actually allow fires on the beach in some parts of Newport and Huntington Beach. Glad you are enjoying your time here in California.
Hey Willy, I actually did visit Newport and Laguna for the day. I actually prefer Hermosa over all of them. Laguna has a very small beach compared to Hermosa and even though Newport is a large beach, there is not as much walking distance to the beach in the way of shops and restaurants as hermosa. At least that was my initial impression
@@MichaelBordenaro Interesting point of view. I never thought about it that way, but you are right, Hermosa and Redondo have a lot more restaurants and shops. I guess as a Newport Beach resident, I don't really want too many restaurants and shops right by the beach because that brings a lot of tourists and noise, but I can definitely see your point.
BTW, I used to live in Sunny Isles in South Florida and loved it. My kid and I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work!

@@MichaelBordenaro even if you get the down payment for one of those homes (the cheapest I saw was $950k, and that was ten blocks from the beach and not even very nice), the property taxes would kill you. Not to mention that you’d have to be earning enough to put yourself into CA’s highest state income tax bracket, so there goes 11% of your earnings to state income taxes, on top of being in a high federal tax bracket. Better to find a nice $400-500k home in Florida, where the beaches are more scenic than Hermosa and there’s islands offshore. That’s my plan next year.
@@CarlWithACamera I completely agree with you. My plan is to stay living in Florida on the cheap and that will give me the extra cash to visit places like this without having to pay the big price tag✌️ in fact this year is already a good trial run of that.
We are staying two months away from Miami so that’s a pretty good amount of time

Don’t know if you’re still in SoCal but I hope you can take a day and go up to Pasadena and check out how beautiful it is. Also site of the famous Rose Bowl Parade and football game. You’ll also see the San Gabriel Mountain range. 👍🏻

Congrats on reaching Cali. I have been to a few of the beaches out that way, Redondo, Hermosa, and Venice come tp mind. Really enjoyed going for the walk with you and Lisi. Believe it or not it is not unheard for indoor pools to be in the basements of row houses here in DC where I grew up. I live in Maryland now. I would love to visit the San Diego area, supposed to be really pretty and a little warmer in the south. Rich history as well. What a pretty walk you had. I see Hollywood Florida's walkway/Boardwalk being like the Strand, but without the houses. Since you already did the daytime walk maybe try a night time walk somewhere else. It seems like the Strand comes more alive in the evenings. Where Hermosa beach ends and has the stupid stairs, when you live there, you know the ramp to take before you get to that point. I agree it seems stupid to have no ramp there. What a nice aquarium to have on the pier. Agree about being with the sharks while surfing. It seems shark encounters are more common than ever. Luck was on your side get in the aquarium. Hope to be caught with your content during my lunch break today :)

You're definitely changing my perspective on Cali! That is a top notch beach. You mentioned not seeing a lot of riff-raff there like Miami. That is the one thing that really disappoints me about SB. The first video that actually brought me to your channel was NB vs SB. Which is actually kind of comical and spot on lol
