i wish joey got as much recognition as Kendrick does. He comes out with songs with the same meaning and amazing lyrics but never gets the recognition he deserves
You gotta remember Kendrick is with DR.DRE and he gained popularity with G.O.O.D KID M.A.A.D CITY, those 2 things grant you mainstream
He's 20 it's almost a certainty that he'll be better then kendrick it's just really a matter of time
Ross Fisher Bruh Jay-z wanted to sign Joey
Mainstream= lower quality content from Joey.
G.N.R.L Anthonio kendrick is becoming the face of hip-hop and is still dropping the best material in the game.
Younger than every rapper and in my opinion the best in the game. He's a genius.
forreal man. people aren't noticing the real music anymore
You don't know many rappers if he's the youngest one but yeah you're not going to find a better all around emcee regardless of age
chiec keef young and is the best rapper
+Justin Behlke that didnt really make sense
+Kyle Munday do i need to dumb it down
The moment when you just realize he revives Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown at 4:19 ....Shit hit me hard man. Damn
Damn, i aint even notice. You right bro
shoopdawhoop217 wow
What a g
Didn't noticed it, you right man
Gave me goosebumps
Amazing video!
nicce observation man
J Dilla production never disappoints.. Rest in beats
the audio engineer in this is 50% of work ... impressive master and mixing
too many bars went over my head
+AquaManJordan joey does that
The way he raps is super vague at times. I thought it was because he rambled rapped but he doesnt anymore
I noticed that too
I didn't even catch that
till now
Nice profile pic
man liquid swords one of my fav albums
This is not rap. This is not hip hop and its not underground. This right here is soul music.
pree sure dis hip hop ? lol dis what hip hop all about g
fuck you mean stop?
+quinn oakley I feel what you saying.
+Stoneybalogna soul hiphop, b
Stoneybalogna nah this is real hip hop
I think this would be a great time for Joey and Kendrick to link up for a monumental track.
Joey kendrick and Cole would be the greatest link up in the history of hip hop
Yeah that track would kill the game right now and put lyrical hip hop back to the forefront.
just imagine how huge it would be I really hope it happens one day
Joey is starting to gain more mainstream attention so I really believe that collab is in the near future.
Actually Joey and Kendrick already collabed in 1 train, asap rockies song, its not just the two of them but its still sick haha
Damn... it’s been 6 years since this came out and it still hits different
It’s that J dilla that hits you.
No cap...this song will never die... always gonna hit you wit that real flow... sets you back an chillaxed
Shit hits just RIGHT
he is now
8 years and I still agree
Great song. Powerful video.
***** Man, you were one of the least TH-camrs I expected to be on one of Joey's videos. However that doesn't mean you're not awesome for it Nathan :D
NuttyNuttinMusic anybody interested hearing music from a brooklyn artist search up A2ONE - Aint In Love thank you for the ones who do and god bless

Devastated
Gorgeous Dede that was one song
Well this comment aged well, Joey sellout
joey is known now but not as much cuz the people want to hear dumb shit which is okay sometimes but its a lil too much
My mans said "hE dRoPpiN sMarT wOrDs"
I feel like this should be a Movie, like it would be like Juice but just modern and sorta 90's style.
They dont make hood movies nomo :/
emilio lee They should bring them back, like they're so interesting it's like a story which I like about them. They should bring movies like that back like Juice, Boyz In Da Hood, and others.
FR0STS0UL menace to society
Trey Lucas I forgot about that one, that movie is pretty dope.
Nwa movie is gonna come out that shit going to be dope it was made by all the members it should be hood and YG came out with a 30 min film which was pretty dope too it had that one dude from coach Carter lmao
One of my all time favorite songs. This never gets old
No cap
This is, hands down, one of the best music videos of all time.
literally every music video has 1 comment like this lmao.

Sagistaurus damn that's convenient asf

9 years later, and it still speaks truths bumping through the stereo

+ZONAVERDE OFICIAL know any other songs like this?
+Austin jones look into the whole album or I have a rapperz playlist on my page with this and many more

Nah i mean new songs that sound like hip hop
Joey is still killing it.. Wish Steezy could be apart of this.. Them 2 would've been the best.. #longlivesteelo

Over a year later and every time I play this song it's like I'm playing it for the first time. I really love both of these artists 😌👌🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥.

RIP J Dilla. Your production is a big influence in my life

This a banger, next we need hazeus view. Joey taking over the east.
He taking over the world.
Taken over the universe
Misuse of the word banger.
You lost 2 hip hop points
Yea man, I think I burned a hole in my CD I played hazeus view so got damn much.
OCB
This type of music needed in the world right now . 2023 I’m here
one thing I hate is when people say j cole or Kendrick Lamar is the only good rappers out when joey bada$$ is as good as the both of them.dude is too underated. give him a major record label and he will get the credit he deserves
+nate eppr he is an indie rapper tho, a major record label will give him more exposure, but his message would be less potent. They would try and make him sell out
Fuck a major label, they'd kill him.
"devastated". it happend g
Rikaze Edits™ lmao his profile pic is couch
Joey is better way than Cole, but almost as good as Kendrick
Why must everyone compare current rappers to older rappers let them be themselves.Damn.
You make a good point man never that about it like that..
Thank you! Like everybody wanna say Joey makes 90's hip hop or tryna bring back 90's music or he tryna be like soandso, like NO he has his own sound but he is heavily by the 90's rappers with the way he acts and some of his music.
Yea...Although when i first heard joey i heard a little nas and wu tang. Obviously influenced by them being from NY
+dlniggs Really? I get Nas from Cole(ironically) and Wu Tang from Flatbush. I get Big L and Biggie out of Joey.
+dlniggs Well, he is his own guy and has his own style but it's a little similar is the both of then tho. Like he learned from them mostly.
Joey did this music video 100% aware of every scene and clip. He's gets saved by the police, highlighting that he knows police do save lives, but unfortunately take others. He presents a scene that's extremely complicated on every level, which is reality. He ran because his fingerprints would've been on the gun, and he just didn't trust the system. We think it's so absurd that he ran but what would you do in that situation?
Well said
the ppl that think it is absurd that he ran just cannot see from any other perspective than their own
I mean, the police officers saw the man with the gun and he aimed it at them.
Bro y’all stupid as hell😂😂😂 he died it’s his ghost. They killed his ass too
The old school sound is back and joey brought it
Joey needs to get on a track on the next Roots album...forreal
to everyones asking why he ran just listen this part
"Cause every time I make a move they be sweatin' me
They want another black man in penitentiary
It's even hard for that man standing next to me
Cause he could catch a bullet that was really meant for me
It's like every step bring me close to destiny
And every breath I get closer to the death of me
I'm just tryna carry out my own legacy
But the place I call home ain't lettin' me"
Pepe LeFou lowkey still don’t get sum of it I get the obvious parts but yeah
@@Whitbrow basically they after him
@@othellobarker1291 no u guys r dumb lol hes talking about how the cops racially profile and with all the killings and stuff that the cops have commited hes explaning how an innocent can die when the "bullet was meant for me"
I thought he ran bc he’s the only one that knew the cops killed the other 2 so they killed him to cover it up
@@BadJuJu1904 they don’t racially profile that’s a myth also he evaded arrest and the other guy had a gun this is bullshit.
one of Joey's finest right here🔥
The word play, the vibe. 2023 and nothing beats this still
I always bounce my head when I listen to Joey Badass, haven't done that since the 90s.
+AlexG67 Damn I'm dead asf
Anyone else feel a Fugees vibe here?
yes
Yesir!
+Cristian Rodriguez in the beginning the" one time"
+Cristian Rodriguez Yes big time!!
No one commented about the vibe so I just had to say something.
if delivery is beautiful.

That scene at 2:25 to 2:31 is mad deep. Joey goin down as one of the best in this era.. and never sold out
Grace Productions Facts
the flow on that part also smooth as fk
facts to the max son shits dope af
This song makes me think about the person I loved more than I ever loved somebody. He was the realest, the purest, the best person I ever known and I know so many guys, it's like nobody could be as good as him, nobody is. He showed me this song randomly last year in the middle of class, he knew I love hip hop as he do and just told me to watch the whole video at home. When I watched I just fell in love with the song, and a little more with him. Now we ain't talking because we're in different class but I want him to know that I still love him so much, I miss him.
+Angel San oh I get it. Just be patient and take your time with him.
Antonio Russi Yeah that's what I'm going to do, thank you 😊
+Angel San You welcome👍👌
+Antonio Russi
Fernando Ortega lol
Joey is lyrically the Messiah of HipHop. He's preserving the culture.
Definitely my favorite song right now.
Imagine all the hits J Dilla and Nujabes could’ve produced today. Rest in peace to two great musical pioneers
Revived mike brown and trayvon martin at the end. That was real,he should have revived Steez too...
No that shts not relevant just fuckin leave that sht b man has nothing to do witchu at all.
would've been nice, but him reviving steez wouldnt make sense to the idea
sit tf down
that woulda made this video complete but steez wasn't killed by the cops he committed suicide
He did revive him, it was that fat crusty nigga on the left sticking his chest out
4:23
i was hoping at the ghost scene steez would be there.
We don't have that technology
+AvidSuRgE yes we do
I don't believe in being reborn or resurrected, but that's one nigga I would love to see again.
I think the directors probably thought that it was best not to use his body for a music video.
AvidSuRgE we definitely do look up tupac hologram coachella
I got the good music chills
I love it...and this dude is the only new artist that still gives me the good music chills...he's keeping hip hop alive
feeling like the fact under the cap of the snapple....
damn joey
Joey's greatest song and video if you ask me. Strong message, very smooth vibe and hits me right in the heart. Keep doing your thing man, you give guys like me hope
+Euroz Hardknock is the best Joey's song ever imo
suspect ft pro era is mine
at the end, when joey wakes up from that whole thing being a dream, the same thing happens when he looks it the window but this time she is happy with the guy she is with (the girl that got shot), so that means joey wouldnt see her sitting on the stairs, they wouldnt have got robbed, she wouldnt have died, he wouldnt have either. i think the biggest message of this video is to show how differently things could turn out in life if one thing that happened during your day happened differently. in the story of the video, joey lives another day, if he did that one simple thing he wouldve been dead along with 2 others. joey badass, the type a nigga. i only hope that in the next years i can become someone people can look up to like joey, the underachievers, rocky, etc.
Burbyno 💯💯💯
You have to watch your Every move else youll die
How come Joey isn’t a super star he deserves so much more on his platform man smh I hate the way music is set up this needs to be hear more
This literally is the greatest scenery I have ever seen ❤️
I remember the time I was geeked on B4D4$$. I still am lowkey 💀💀💀
I was literally just thinking that Joey B should be mentioned in the same sentence as Kendrick and J Cole when it comes to being a pure lyricist..... This kid is INSANE......IMO -Ase
HAHAHAH makes me laugh at the people who dismiss this type of music and or are sleep on the whole BEAST COAST
I don't find It too funny
i mean in a way that they are sleep, like get on some real music, its bound to happen tough ya know, all in its time
I feel you. This music doesn't get the credit it deserves.
Zodia Wagner thats what I'm saying, especially since I've been with the whole movement since right after 1999 dropped i knew and felt it within right away this guy joey still had along way and its all been unfolding so smooth, don't worry bro he will get this music along with real music like j coles and Kendricks will help us all move forward get rid of all this music who worships their rich lavish lifestyles and drugs money and fame, shit will be gone. real shit on the rise!
Yup. I feel sorry for them. Ignorance controls people man
Back in 2015 I showed my girl at the time this song and I cried in front of her but I ain't knew what "love" meant at the time so I got emotional and she was like why you getting so emotional I ain't knew how to answer her correctly but told her like I never wanted her to leave me, made her promise me and now she's gone.... Been like more than a year since last year March since I've spoke to her... Last thing she told me was she was already talking to someone else... It breaks my heart coming back to this song cause she was my highschool sweetheart... But hey man.. shit happens, and life passed on... She still lives like the down the street from me and from where I work at currently... But nothing I can change bout nothing... Life is crazy but hey pursuit your dreams foo cause that's what I'm on now... I'ma open my own barbershop one day even tho I work at Taco Johns now. Peace and love from the west side of Beloit, Wisconsin. ❤
My favourite bada$$ song, everything about it is hypnotic
Joeys Vision is so powerful and detailed...this is why his climb has been more consistent than superficial & instant. Built to last, , I’d like to see him do an album with ASAP Rocky honestly
Hard to believe that it has been six years since this music video has dropped and is still relevant today in 2021. It is Devastating and Poetic all at the same time.
It's really not and the whole narrative that cops kill mainly and only back people is utter bullshit. Stop watching the news.
@@noneofyourbusiness1114Wrong. This video is so relevant to this day. Many police are not all bad but there are bad ones and racist ones (which is really bad) out there. There is a lot of evidence showing police officers shooting, killing, beating up, and harassing black people or executing them. Policing came out of the slave trade. There are a number of incidents showing police brutality and racism towards unarmed black people in this country such as Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Oscar Grant, Freddy Gray, Eric Garner, Ahmaud Arbery, Elijah Jovan McClain, Atatiana Koquice Jefferson, Tony Mcdade, Aiyana Jones, Akai Gurley and unfortunately, many others. Also, the youngest person to receive the electric chair was George Junius Stinney Jr. There was also an incident where police beat Pearl Pearson's Jr., a 64-year old deaf black man almost to the point of death while laughing about it. Don't forget that police beat up Martin Luther King Jr.'s and John Lewis's Freedom Riders group (with John lewis getting beaten up) on the Edmund Pettis bridge (the bridge was named after a KKK Grand dragon). Police also beat up Rodney King and got off for it in 1992 (however you feel about that incident, no human being should have been beaten like that or at all). Police also did not stop KKK members from bombing Tulsa Oklahoma which was known as Black Wallstreet at the time, nor did they stop whites from lynching and castrating a heavily mentally disabled and unarmed black male named Jesse Washington in Waco, Texas in 1916. Another report (in present day) shows two black men being arrested at Starbucks. Or more recently showing Lt. Nazario from Virginia, a soldier who served his country, being pepper sprayed by police. The very people who were supposed to be thanking him for his service in the military were attacking him.History also shows some police officers secretly being Ku Klux Klans members, a racist terrorist and white supremacist group that kill black people and anyone who is not white. Again, not all police are bad but police make mistakes. Many police are racist. Many police do not do their job. Cops don't just kill blacks but others too. They killed a homeless white male named Kelly Thomas in Orange County or the number of incidents with other people of color through police brutality. However, there is a high and scary list of police killing, harassing, or executing black people. This is why Joey Badass' music video is very relevant to this day. Your statement is ignorant and insensitive....and could be seen by some as racist.
I still gotta listen to his 2000 album
This visual was heavy. So much respect for Joey. He's a real one.
Who still listening to dis 2019???
yea but joey went sellout and thats sad
Bro everyday this my favorite joint
@@Shubla3 His last record didn't even go mainstream(Escape from NY), just becuase hes mainly performing now and doing feats in Mr Robot and shit doesnt mean he sellout. That's the problem with coming from the underground. Ppl always claim someone changed.
well yehhh no duh, also true about lettin him blow up, sellout charges are bullsh, let the man succeed for fuks sake

As a young black girl living in Europe in 2020, this song makes me cry....
Is it cool over there?
@@urameshithethotslayer4540 No, my friend she lives in Italy she told me there's alot of racism there. Its just not shown on the mainstream.
1:34 “We gettin blown like a javelin she threw it back like like she time traveling” That’s the Lord Quas flow right there he even says “then I ripped the flow” after it with the motorboat double entendres. This why he one of the best.
He used to be good he sold out MF DOOM his influencer is miles ahead of joey lyrically
Playboy Ryan No one can deny that. DOOM stayed true to the artform while Joey used it to spread political messages like a priest for the public.
Made me cry 😢
Man facts wtf
This song gave me goosebumps especially when he did a tribute to Mike brown and travyon Martin
I Love how is flow is reminiscent of the 90s. This dude got mad talent.

So many people never recognize, or give enough credit to, rappers like this.
Hip-Hop is in good hands man, these guys such as Joey Bada$$ and many others are keeping it alive and giving us music that you can feel and relate to that actually has a deeper message and actual substance behind their music. Nice to know 2015 and beyond has a good outlook for our culture.
