One of my closest friends took his life a little over two years ago. Every time I would hang out with him at his house before it happened I would hear this song playing in the background and didn't really understand the impact the song had on me until after he died. Heard it again about 3 months after he died while I was tripping and it made me cry uncontrollably. Thank you for making such a beautiful and inspirational song. My goal is to one day make a song that portrays how this song made me feel.

This track makes me bawl. Seeing Isaiah have this wonderful day with his son reminds me of me growing up with my dad taking me to the OC, NJ shore. He never had much money but the money wasn't really important because to us kids being in a cool ass place was enough and just living life was enough. That's what this video reflects to me. A struggling father who is just trying to do the best for his child. It's beautiful and real.
Here to support Isaiah Rashad, his music got me through some dark times. Here to support him through this dark time 🙏🏽 keep writing, you are truly blessed.
Every time I come back to this video, I come back with a different perspective. At this point in life, I realize why parents are so attached to the memories of their children in their younger years. Because that’s when you have somebody who so pure and innocent, loves you for who you are. You have a little buddy, and they just wanna spend time with you and genuinely love you for you. As we get old, our views become shaped and molded mostly by life depending on how strong your mind is and it can only be so strong in a premature state. We begin to see things different and at times people see their parents or whatever different until they finally get old enough to appreciate them and everything they have done and do. Now that isn’t always the case, and there are other reasons parents cherish their babies younger years, but that’s just where I personally am in life so I see that in this video. You got a mini you that will always love you, so you feel like I don’t need much else in this world but my little buddy. Hence Isaiah saying “if I can pay my bills, I’m good”. If he can take care of him and his child then he’s at peace with life and has everything else he needs, life is what you make it. I’m big on purpose so of course I’ve looked at this video in other ways and will come back and see it differently, but these are my thoughts right now, on simplicity and genuine love.
Thanks for sharing, that was deep and I appreciate people with depth I've had enough surface level bullshit to last a lifetime and there are more important things to discuss than the weather... You do your gender a credit, you're the kinda guy younger kids should look up to with these thoughts in your head. The powers that be try to convince us that money = happiness when that is so far the truth, I'm glad other people see through it too.
sunny i feel the exact same way every time i listen. The whole album is like tht pretty much, some more hope inspiring than others. This album is pure gold to me

This song is so beautiful. So much beauty in Isaiah's art but so so so much pain hiding behind that smile. The world needs more guys like Isaiah, this sorta vulnerability and realness hasn't gone unappreciated. Thank you to Isaiah and TDE for this wonderful piece of music I keep coming back to years later.

SpaceWaffle this is isaiah standing up for all the isaiahs out there I spell my name the same as his it annoys me that some people think there is 1 way to spell isiah or isaiah or etc.
What I specifically like about this music video is that it wasn't shot with closed piers or anything. I love the reactions of people, adds a lot to it. Infact often I blank out the music and just watch the video in full screen, not very many music videos that'll interest you enough to do that. Well played Isaiah.
Even if you don't got a dollar in your pocket, you can still be there for your kid and be a good father.... I think that's what the message in the video is..
you can... to be a good person, caring dad absolutely, but it's important to lay some foundation so the kid sees its worth to strive for something in life and always feel safe and let him understand he has a backbone no matter what.
oldnbaschool totally agree with what you’re saying as well and not to disagree with you but I think the message is to never abandon your kid even for financial reasons
Yes and finding the message in the bottom of the bottle is probably the realization that it's time to grow up instead of throwup. Then saying your son is coming up would be deciding to learn from it and become better. You wouldn't have just a dollar in your pocket if you didn't drop it on a bottle, a bag, or whatever. Pay your bills and give that cobra money to your kid. And find your happiness in that instead And yo kid would gain perspective from doing so.
I do want to say tho he makes no reference to him having a kid in the lyrics you've only gotten from the video. He says mama, could be his or his baby momma and he's says your son is coming up. He could just be talking about getting out of the perpetual nothingness that comes with growing up in the hood and not giving into the lifestyle anymore. Heaven isn't just at the bottom of the bottle and then telling his mom her son is finally coming up.
Damn been listening to this song sense day 1 and now its already 2021.... "You aint nothing but a baby your fear is growing up" Edit almost 2023 i just turned 22 and still listening sense i was 16.. Huge inspiration to music where did you go isaiah..🙃🌴🍄
Just turned 22 too and that line has always been the one that stuck out most to me too! Give him time, I respect his process (because we end up with amazing music) so if it takes time I’m cool with that. I’m sure he’ll drop something (relatively) soon and it will be our most listened to project by miles yet again.
Used to bump this shit when I was dead broke, still struggling but holy shit has shit gotten better and man did this video help me feel better back in the day.
David Guerra some of us don't have the cash. I'm just a teenager man, if I could go out and buy it I would, but I don't have money like that. That don't make us "lames"
i cried so many nights to isaiah rashad. its almost like it cleans my soul. makes me release all my pain and stress. i feel so much emotion in his music. you aint nothing but a baby. your fear is growing up. GOT DAM
Exactly especially this song right here i remember the feeling it gave me right after where u at i was just sitting there bobbing my head like "yup isaiah finally back!"
Me too, I'll wait as long as it takes, as long as its a quality release. Artists these days need to realize that. No rush. Take your time, put the passion into it when they have their minds right.
we are the 09/22/2017 my son just birth 8hours ago the 1st song he heard was this one ! this mean nothing for you but for me that was one of the best moment of my life
I'm still bumping Blank Face everyday and now this masterpiece! Soulo better release by the end of this year otherwise Top is gonna catch these hands lol.
I never bought an album ever... At least not on Itunes... When this came out on friday I was addicted by saturday and bought the shit out of it on sunday I don't think I ever spent my money better Bump up
The first time my friend heard this song, he went mad, moved to the Amazon rainforest and joined a tribe. He became a hunter for a while and lived off tiger meat that he hunted with spears he made from the trees, now he's a big time coke dealer and designs missile targeting systems for the RAF.
This is one of the most powerful videos I've ever seen from 2016. It gives a feeling that can't be described with anything other than 'bliss'. When you realize that you have so much more than your credit score and the numbers in your bank account or the paper and pieces of metal that clink in your pockets, there is a certain clarity that allows you to see the world and the people around you for who they really are. If only the rest of the world could experience this clarity then maybe we would know peace.
I live at the shore, but I still get so much anxiety around crowds like on the boardwalk. To watch you make a music video and just not give a fuck. Enjoying time with your loved one. Nothing and no one else matters of what they think or say if they even do which they usually dont. I know a lot of times it's just me vs myself using others as ammunition to jeopardize my own good time cause of my subconscious self hate that I haven't had the courage to face yet. Love your music.
Glad to see a video for this 'cuz it's my favorite track on the album! Great message to this one, too. It reminds me of the scene from Half Baked when Thurgood is out on the date trying to stretch his money.
It's not bad but I definitely prefer Cilvia Demo. No artist can please everyone with every album though and I see a lot of his fans are enjoying his new one.
Its time for a new Isaiah Rashad album🙌 Who think the same ??? Edit: one year later and still got no album 😭 Last edit: finally the album drops one week ago 🙏

Love how you come back to edit! Hope you‘re doing good
@@KG-eg1sg 💯💯💯💯
Just turned 22 too and that line has always been the one that stuck out most to me too! Give him time, I respect his process (because we end up with amazing music) so if it takes time I’m cool with that. I’m sure he’ll drop something (relatively) soon and it will be our most listened to project by miles yet again.
Used to bump this shit when I was dead broke, still struggling but holy shit has shit gotten better and man did this video help me feel better back in the day.
Best TDE music video ever in my opinion

David Guerra some of us don't have the cash. I'm just a teenager man, if I could go out and buy it I would, but I don't have money like that. That don't make us "lames"
Allen Jimmerson In then the majority of Zay fans are teens.....

Isaiah Rashad is one of the influences that keep me holding on, thank you....
for sure this album is the album for the year so far.
Anderson.Paak - Malibu might have something to say about that
droopy562 oh nawww. that's a good album, but this shit is dope.
Paak has way more variety in sound imo
the healing component from mick jenkins was first for me and this was a close 2nd for 2016
Now I think Tribe Called Quest's album is my album of the year.
Isaiah needs to drop a new album soon. The Sun's Tirade was such a solid project for me. His best so far tbh.
TheRealRedWolf Cilvia demo had a different vibe but it’s hard to say which one is better for me
THIB

It took forever because he was trying to get over his addiction
+SDXX pills
And alcohol
Me too, I'll wait as long as it takes, as long as its a quality release. Artists these days need to realize that. No rush. Take your time, put the passion into it when they have their minds right.
it was worth it. it took me a while to appreciate it but its some nice shit
I come here and cry whenever I need a good reset.
Thanks G!!! keep changing and inspiring lives!!❤❤❤

Isaiah is the light Ab is the dark ... I don't care what anyone say you can easily see the contrast
H Bizzle I agree. My friend hipped me to the spiritual eye behind what Ab spits about. Def had to chill on him.
Lant Lewis the thing is he didn't have to go that route
H Bizzle Right. I really don't understand how Kendrick still rocks with it, honestly.
Lant Lewis what yu mean cuh? Fill me on, haven't really listened to Ab soul that much
Jairo Marquez The album "Do What thou Wilt" is based off of the religion "Thelema". It deals with black magic and witchcraft.
This was fucking dope, autumn vibes gonna be the best

The first time my friend heard this song, he went mad, moved to the Amazon rainforest and joined a tribe. He became a hunter for a while and lived off tiger meat that he hunted with spears he made from the trees, now he's a big time coke dealer and designs missile targeting systems for the RAF.
Same
#1 song of all time type shii

Got shit on complete smash!!
true wealth is contentment. release aspiration and practice gratitude, watch as the numbers climb insignificantly
If only the rest of the world could experience this clarity then maybe we would know peace.
i knew i wasnt the only one on shrooms watching this
Take a Xanax
We are PhZD shrooms are much better
Amen amigo .

Makes May life so easy so calm, everything relax.
Godzilla had a fucking stroke trying to read this
Real tune. It speaks to all of us struggling and just trying to enjoy life. Praise ya'll.
Reminds me and my kiddo when I was unemployed and trying to be in his life...he didn't care about the money he just wanted the time
Shoutout to the guy who produced this, FrancisGotHeat, dude is hella underrated
God bless him
how you figure out who made it? I been searching for so long. Shout out to him.

Pharrell, Kaytranada, Mike Will Made-It, etc
metro boomin, 808mafia
Glad to see a video for this 'cuz it's my favorite track on the album! Great message to this one, too. It reminds me of the scene from Half Baked when Thurgood is out on the date trying to stretch his money.
Plz give this album a good review, this album is so relaxing
rate it however you want buddy
It's not bad but I definitely prefer Cilvia Demo. No artist can please everyone with every album though and I see a lot of his fans are enjoying his new one.
+Luke James (Album Reviews) Yeah, its pretty hard to beat Cilvia Demo personally
Him finessing that date is and will always be legendary
Timeless music🔥❤️I can’t believe I’m still jamming to this in 2024. This dropped when I was 17, now I’m 24.

I first heard this song along with the video when it released back in 2016. It’s now 2024 & I now have two boys. Watching this vid again for the first time in awhile put me in a serious nostalgic state as I feel like its the first time i heard it again. My heart is filled with joy reflecting back to that point in time & the fact I’m still here. Time is precious man & it flies by, enjoy every moment you got. Peace & love everyone.
