I had done this song at a church service years ago in the same fashion but using my slide, and poured my heart out doing it as it brought the house down to my surprise ! I am in no way even near Joe's great and awesome talent, but and old women in a wheel chair grabbed me as I left the stage walking down the isle and told me I was wierd! And with a big grin pulled me close and said... But I loved it! The best compliment I ever received . Joe is a national treasure!

This is the first time I have heard Joe play this song. There are various opinions on this song but if I could say every musician, I feel, has their own version of the classics. It seems, to me, you can feel this version is his soul coming out through his fingers onto the strings, pretty well as is all of his music. No not conventional but still done with respect to the Christmas carol. So, sit back, close your eyes and just enjoy the mystical nature of this song. Always, A HAPPY HOLIDAYS & NEW YEAR!

I love music, especially the sound of a guitar. It's like some kind of magic to me, because I truly don't understand how anyone plays one of those things. Normally, I don't like instrumentals. I love good lyrics. It's about the words. But Joe Bonamassa went and recorded my favorite version of "O Holy Night" ... on a guitar ... with no words at all. An amazing rendition of this most beautiful song. As a former singer, having performed this piece many, many times I must say Mr. Bonamassa's use of the whammy bar perfectly illustrates where a voice would naturally have a tremolo, so I find it excellently placed. Comparing guitarists is a useless pastime, much like comparing apples to oranges. Both are fruits, but much different in flavor. Joe B is a legend on his own and surely does not need to emulate other guitarists to prove his worth. In my mind he is paying homage to his heroes.
