One thing I particularly appreciate about JB, besides his art. He never forgets to point out his influences and thus pays respect to the numerous other legends. That makes him humanly approachable and testifies to greatness of character.
I'm not Joe-level but I used to call it "talking to God". There were moments in solos when it was euphoric, when I played things I really didn't know how to play but my fingers followed a melody in my mind that just happened. I closed my eyes and it was just there. That feeling was better than sex because you got another chance to feel it again minutes later in the next song. I imagine that's why I played music for 45 years. There was always a chance to be the best you could be, every minute of a 4 hr gig however many nights a week for 30 yrs on the road. It's better than drugs or sex. I miss playing out and probably never will again but if I could I would in a NY minute. Thanks Joe for the inspiration and the humility...
Yep. I would also find it hard to describe, what I came out with one day was: it's like a blue glowing aura that's completely surrounding you...there's just no other feeling like it.
Hey, Jeff, well put. I’m a lifelong player/singer as well. There’s nothing like it. As a singer there are times when you can’t believe how suddenly it’s all so easy and you’re hitting notes you never thought you could. Yeah, man nothing better than those gigs

Well, you did it again. This 25-minute segment took me 3+ hours to watch - I had to get a feel for the Royal Albert Hall and Red Rocks concerts and ended up watching most of both! Another great interview.

Love Joe! Great gentleman. Honest, no BS. I really can't wait for this covid thing to end so we can get back to concerts again. Hopefully I'll eventually get to hear Joe, Thanks for this series! Great stuff.
I'm a keyboard player who loves to jam. I totally get what he's saying about time compressing when you are soloing. It sometimes happens to me when I'm "ON", and it's all working. I can "see" where I am and where I want to go. All while playing at lightning speed. It's magical when this happens. Sadly, it doesn't happen every time but when it does! Wow!
People are drawn to artists for different reasons. Joe’s music introduced a whole new world to my life. I had endured a bad depression over many years, did not trust my doctor…and, focusing on that failure, had erroneously deduced that NOBODY was good at anything. I *NEEDED* to know that excellence existed, CRAVED excellence, searched for excellence. Then, one day, excellence APPEARED. It was Joe. On TH-cam. Had never heard of him, knew nothing about blues music, very little about rock, but I could see the immense skills he had, which propelled me to follow his music. I had spent several years studying guitar myself (hobby…classical and folk), and I believe that is why his skills spoke to me so clearly. Discovering Joe and his music was instrumental (no pun intended) in lifting me up and out of depression and despair. Now my last frontier is to stop being lazy and to pick up the guitar once again…before old age kicks in, as I’m 75. LOL
Saw Joe in Montreal at the Saint Denis Theatre back when he was celebrating his 33rd birthday. Great show and been a fan ever since, especially when he does shows with the new lady of the blues, Beth Hart.Got 5 CD’s in the cars stackable sound system and put them on when I’m stuck in the slow lane of traffic
Joe Bonamassa is a great guitarist I love his playing. Nice to hear this kind of interview . Derek and the Dominos started my adventure into serious music, Rock Blues and the like . I have seen Clapton 7 times, for me its 2 things, his melodic flow when he is into it and versatility, Clapton does that in concert. I have not had the chance to see Joe Bonamassa yet but will. Oh yeah , I have a 2010 Clapton "Blackie" Strat , they are just wonderful guitars...

When he said that everything is flowing around the 11:3 mark ( and everything said around that) for a drummer it is like my feet are floating on the pedals and my hands do not feel the hit of the drums.....things are effortless, and it is THE most natural high a musician can have.....and it is THOSE MOMENTS that most of us muso live for that people will never understand!

Joe, you exemplify what and why for, your museum is historic, necessary for the society...thank you. This interview with Joe is legendary, like Joe is. I’m glad you said that Joe! You like riding a bike but you’re not Lance Armstrong. I’ve been playing guitar for 50 some odd years and listening to Joe B rip out a solo I think why even play the damn thing? But guitar has given me a lifetime of joy and I’ll be playing till the day I die. So I’ll keep trying and trying and someday....just someday I’ll get reasonably good. A great interview Joe!
I stumbled across Joe a few years ago seeing the Royal Albert Hall concert on PBR here in Dallas. I've been a huge fan of his ever since. That being said, it seems like every blues guitarist ever, plus Jimi, was mentioned in this interview except Stevie Ray Vaughn. Yes, I'm a Texan and extremely biased, but SRV! SRV! SRV! Thanks and keep going Joe and I'll keep buying.
For the theory, there's too many studio musician's with note for note and no where to run ! J.b. makes guitar sing into a different light which makes music come alive! Connect the dots on the fret board and let it ride, LoL! And know your good player to jam with best! To many of us wannabe rock stars with over kill of 3 chords songs with no where to run when we were young kid's! Great player with no ego with a mission! Good job of JB and his world!
I have been really enjoying this series along with all the interviews . I am beginning to think that someone needs to step in and conduct a multi session interview of Joe Chambers. I would enjoy hearing his stories from his life. Thanks for inside look at all of this great musicians.
Dave... thanks for watching.... much appreciated. Thanks too for the kind comment about my life but I promise you it will not compare to the interviews I’m lucky enough to share with everyone who watches our channel like with Joe B., Lukather, Vince, Pankow, Emmylou, Burton, Duane Eddy etc. but again thank you very much.... Joe C.
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum They have all lived a very public life under the spotlight and have a ton to share and reflect on. With that said ...you are selling yourself short... Thanks for all you do!
Joe is exactly right......there are nights when everything flows perfect and you know it...and your able to slow it down enough to play exactly what flows.....and then there are nights you can't do anything right....
Bonamassa is an interesting player because that tradition of Electric Blues that still kind of comes from the British approach but he has that nerd thing in a cool way kind of like Tony Hawk in skateboarding compared to Tony Alva who really had the swagger. It fits for the type of players like Beck, Blackmore, Hendrix, Clapton, Allman who had kind of a mystery swagger. His work is so varied, my favorite stuff is the Black Country stuff with Bonham, Glenn Hughes. The other thimg is going through great gear, I can be just like that. I study guitars and gear so much, even to this day. He paid his dues and he really does a great show.
Great interview Joe, watched a lot of JB on Norm's rare guitar segments. Playing by ear is when you're passion driven, imo. You just learn because you love to play . . .
Enjoyed this interview thanks, Joe is talented in the extream. Too young to be a Giant yet but will be when he finds what he's searching for or gets close. Respect and stay healthy all.

Very interesting response to the sunglasses on my behalf did not know that so you're saying you're a man with feeling but Joe we already knew that from listening to your music and I don't think your mom is stuffing The Ballot Box I think it's your versatility and your music and keeping it real not to mention brilliant thanks for the great sound love your Carnegie hall music thanks again Joe will be listening......

SOMETIMES MISTAKES TURN OUT BEST!!!
Love ❤️ Mr. Bonamassa
Thanks for posting Joe! Appreciate all your effort.

I’m so glad Joe is working with Eric Gales! The two Rock/Blues Titans of our time!
Great interview! Well said Joe 💪
Thanks for watching Robert........Joe C.
Joe is exactly right......there are nights when everything flows perfect and you know it...and your able to slow it down enough to play exactly what flows.....and then there are nights you can't do anything right....
Thanks for watching Larry... Joe C.
Haha comparing JB to Tony Hawk vs Tony Alva speaks volumes to his perceived public persona.
@@JustAnotherBlader lol.
Great interview Joe, watched a lot of JB on Norm's rare guitar segments. Playing by ear is when you're passion driven, imo. You just learn because you love to play . . .
Thanks for watching DSAS..... best, Joe C.
Joe, I didn't know who Hubert Sumlin was till I saw him play at the Kansas City Blues Festival about 98 or so. I went back and did my research.
