*International laws* are very clear on the South China Sea:
    - parts of it belong to some ASEAN countries including the Philippines 🇵🇭,
    - the rest of it is the international water,
    - no part of it belongs to China🇨🇳 or Taiwan🇹🇼.

International law means nothing. The international court of justice ruled USA violated international law in Nicaragua. They said USA had to pay reparations. USA said go kick rocks. The USA then violated international law with the invasion of Iraq. If USA doesn’t follow international law why should China?

Every country should do this - coastal coast guard ships are typically the size of frigates and criminal organisation are becoming more sophisticated and aggressive. Most nation's military have nothing valuable to do so why not put them to work patrolling our coastal and land borders as well as emergency response. My recommendation is that Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia should build a fleet of Coast Frigates equipped with drones for aerial patrol, sea drones and helicopters for rescue duties. These assets would have a peace time roll of boundary security, search and rescue but during war these same assets would be used for boundary defense - anti-submarine weapons, ship-to-air missiles, ship-to-ship missiles. All countries need an effective coast guard - in dealing with China's violations they need frigates to be effective. Why spend the money twice.? During a time of war the last thing these nations will be worried about is fishing and smuggling violations.

Ronan’s point that overwhelming numbers are good for blockade actions. …but the quality and experience of the US makes it the most effective Blue Water Navy in history. The combine warfare attributes of the US compounds their advantage. Go Taiwan Go!

They don’t need it. They have it, because Chinese shipyards are pumping out new naval ships at such a clip that retired naval ships still have lots of legs in them. So they gave them to the coast guard.

Also, Vietnam and Indonesia are now openly (this is important, I didn't know how it was before because they were rather hush-hush about it) challenging their presence in the SCS so it's natural for China to up their game.

Your guests use terms such as, South China Seas, East China Seas etc., are they not using the language of the CCP Imperialists? Is this a point that you should be bringing up in you staff meetings? Should guests be given notification that you will clarify those attributions as being subjective to a specific voice. Rendering transparency to the source-use of specific terms would elevate the integrity of your discourse. I have heard Yin Kvat use the term West Philippines Sea, but am otherwise aware of the messy attributions.
    Language is important.
