I have poured more babbitt sockets than I care to remember. Mine were done with 3/4" wire rope and a slightly different socket. I have on many occasions broken the 3/4" wire rope during extreme circumstances but have never pulled the wire rope from the socket. I learned this work 50 plus years ago and with but just a few minor differences your procedure is spot on. Very well done and informative.

@@stevenshelton7998 Hey thanks, man. Much respect. 3/4” wire rope and Babbitt shackles are no joke. Hats off to you.

Thanks for the lesson. Do you have any other elevator content?

@@armandrebello3381 No. Sorry. A fellow repair mechanic who is also an instructor asked me to show a Babbitt shackle for his class since it’s rarely done any more. I’ve been doing this since 2000 but I’m certainly not the expert. I’ve done a few so I had my apprentice video it.
Thanks for the comment. Did you have something in mind that you wanted to see?

Not really. I’m also an elevator mechanic and I had this repair to do today. I just enjoy my job and love to learn what I can from anyone to have the most well rounded education.
