To find an FT-17 just sitting there rusting away is a shame. Not many of them around. Some great finds. To bad all the bunkers are closed. You people stay safe and health out there.
yes , great to come across something like that even though the place is taken care of , in a way :) Thanks William.
For something rusting away, it sure still looks in a pretty good shape. As if it had been scraped or sand-blasted and then painted.
But whatever the reason, it has to be taken indoors and properly restored/reconditioned.
@@Briselance that is great news. I only know of 2 running units both in England. Thank you for the information.
Its the great grandfather of all modern MBT's. First ever tank built in the configuration we see today. Turret & track layout etc...
There are a number still laying around in formerly French-controlled areas of Africa, some considerably more complete than this one. It looks like this one has damage to the side that still has the undercarriage attached so it may have been destroyed in battle...
I can watch these WW2 History Hunter videos over & over. My very fav WW2 history TH-camr.
We do appreciate you Girl :)
Thanks so much for showing in detail that gun. It's so interesting to see. I'd love to see and hear one actually firing.
Thanks my friend.
about $12 dollars a round and you can shoot it .
After ww1 my great granddad bought an American light tank that was demilitarized and he used it to pull logs out of the woods it looked very similar to this French tank. It was sold during the scrap metal drives for ww2.
That Renault FT-17 tank is definately special. Not many left these days. The Germans captured a lot in 1940 and the FT-17 turrets were the most used tank turrets mounted on Ringstands on the Atlantikwall
Great place and thanks.
Nice delivery. A beautiful bunker and the fact that you also find the metal beams for closing the emergency exit is certainly special, I come across them very sporadically. The turret of the vehicle was also placed on a Tobruk bunker as you saw where a soldier with an MG stood in it. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for watching.
Turret is from ww1 tank
Finding that Renault FT was so amazing. And an early one, possibly even WW1 vintage, as the original wooden Idler wheels (the big wheel at the front) were replaced with steel in the 1930's. Such a rare beast. The Germans captured 1700 Ft's so not a surprise that this one ended up at the coast. So Cool. Such a great find. Such a great place. So much to see. That area is quite a slice of History. Thanks to both of you for this. Stay Well. Stay Strong. Stay Safe! Cheers my friends!
Great little place it is Peter and very glad to have shared with you :)
So very cool!! Glad you were able to go there and share this place!! Thanks!!
We loved this place Josh and we thank you for being here with us and for your great support :)
Thank you for showing us this fantastic location. So incredible to see that FT, not many left of those.
Thanks for watching.
That is so amazing that you were able to climb in it and bring it to us. Thank you!
Our pleasure!
My, what exciting finds! Those numbers on the breech block that you so quickly passed over. Those tell the caliber and year of manufacturer of the cannon. Tarry a bit longer next time you numbers like that please.
The rings with the numbers on them are part of the fire control system. They indicate the elevation of the cannon and expected range.
Thanks for taking the time to show those parts.
It takes a lot of technology to build a tank. Building the FT-17 was a push at the time.
Yes, the Germans used them as training vehicles and in combat. Any tank is better than no tank. Especially when the enemy doesn't have tanks.
Tanks for another wonderful adventure!
Appreciated John and more to come soon :)
Tanks.... lol
Its great to see the Renault FT17 as said in the other comments, there aren't many around now
Running, fully functioning unit can be seen at the Museum of the American GI just south of College Station, Texas. Well worth the trip, as they also have several other unique WWI vehicles in their collection...
Thanks for watching.
@@caneighbors7875 has come
Supposedly during the happy days after the war, some guys got into this fort and found this tank and drove it into the fjord.
The Parola tank museum in finland has what looks to be a complete example of an Ft-17 on display.
Good to know and thanks for watcing.
Good job as usual - Bet that felt awesome to find that🪖❤️
Great little tank there :) Thanks
Excellent find and episode
Thanks!
Thanks John :)
Another fantastic video, bet those finds brought a smile to your face. Thanks for showing us and doing the research on them.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you and EE for sharing this location, it looks like someone was trying to make a museum or something for tourists. Wish you could have explored the inside of the bunkers, there probably in good shape inside but we'll just have to imagine. Thanks again and stay safe.
the place is taken care of , sort of :) Thanks
It is possible to ask around, maybe someone can lock it up for a film production.
Saving the best for the last episode of this location. Very nice. Looking forward to the next location.👍
Glad you liked it and thanks :)
Historical research is fabulous HH & EE Thank You for sharing 👍 Jesse

Finding that Renault talk. How awesome. Fantastic find. Just love the bunkers. Thank you for sharing. I watch all your videos. Wish I could contribute

😳 Wait, you have something made by Renault that actually works!? Amazing!
⚜️Seriously though, Renault cars don't exactly have a good reputation here in the US...... For a relatively short time in the 80s, there were Renault and Yugo car dealerships here in the US. AMC had signed a contract with Renault to market and sell their cars in the US. The Renault car models sold in the US included the "Fuego", "Alliance" and the "Le Car". ALL of them are now documented in several lists of "worst cars of all time". 💩
My uncle used to live in Hof. Back when i was there the wall was still up. There was a fence right behind his backyard, that was a chain link fence, with signs on it. Mine field ahead. Then there was the wall and soldiers in the tower. I remember waving at them. Memorys. Now it's just a empty field
Wow powerful memories indeed. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Amazing find! Thanks for sharing 😁👍👏

Thanks Tommy
Had a feeling that was an FT when you first found it, what a great discovery!
Cool, thanks!
Wooden wheels kind of gave it away. A 'beuterpanzer'.
Great to see some guns still in place, great video thanks for sharing
i agree and thanks Iain
Hehe nice, I have one in the game World of Tanks :)
Info from the game:
"The vehicle entered service in 1917, with 3,177 vehicles manufactured by the end of World War I and 3,800 vehicles produced in total. At the beginning of World War II, a total of 1,560 vehicles were in service."
There you go and thanks for comment and for watching.

Fantastic bunker system with gun's still in place. The tank FT17 was unexpected! Shame the bunkers were closed off though.
Thanks Glen
Another great location with some rare findings indeed!Waiting for the next one, great job as always. Thanks hh&ee!
as far as i know many obsolete ww1 and interwar era tanks gave their turrets to fortified locations like this.
also something i wanted to ask for a long time. Do you plan or even dare to dream a ww2 tour around europe sometime in the future?
Thanks for watching and we are all over Europe actually. Thanks.
I love your channel the fact that you get your kids involved that is awesome keep up the good work
Thank you! Will do!

Wow! Just gutted you can't see inside those bunkers, looks like they've been very well looked after, what a great location!! 👌

Wow so cool, i hope to do this kind of stuff in later years. Its sad to see these places dying, love the videos have a good day. From AR. Usa
Thanks my friend.
The turret and cannon looks like it was taken off a ship.
They were off ships. Thanks.
probaly a destroyer gun
I was going to say the same :-)
thats definitely the extraordinarily rare sidecar tank - it would normally be fixed to a small motorcycle , but ther never found intact because after the war the bikes were invariably removed to be used a regular transport , leaving in effect the much less useful half a light tank
Thanks for watching.
Amazing on finding and actually seeing a tank from WW1. Really liked that. Did you happen to find any of other pieces that went to it? Looking forward to the next............... ;)
we looked but didnt find any more but hey are probably somewhere around there. Thanks Colleen and greetings from us.
@@WW2HistoryHunter Yes, possibly. And a Big HELLO from me; USA.
Just found your channel, very interesting. Back in the 80's I was stationed in Okinawa Japan, and we would explore WWII bunkers in the jungle. We actually found a boot with a foot still in it in a cave sitting next to a pile of rusted hand grenades. A grim reminder of what happened in these places.
Thanks for sharing and for watching.
Beautiful ! Thank you .
Thank you too!
Thank you guys for showing, and sharing this one of a kind, " beautiful bunker ". And its guns. I'd love to visit one day. Awesome video . Peace and love brothers and sisters, of good will 🙌🤲🕊👏🤝👐🙏👍.

Another great video and location. I just love ww2 history soo and it’s just something that I can’t explain. But I love this location to see how the bunkers and gun might have been during war time. I would love to just sit there next to a gun and just close my eyes and just think what it was like 77 years ago.
good thing we have imagination. Thanks Dalton

@@WW2HistoryHunter no problem
I think it's a French tank from ww1.
I'm glad you looked it up. The French used them in WW1 and WW2.
Great tank and thanks Michael
That old vehicle hull (and the turret you found next to it) is an old French FT 17 from World War 1. Amazing find. I wish i could bring it home to restore
Great tank and thanks for watching.
Amazing as always 👍
Thanks Anna
Very interesting to see. Thanks and stay safe.
Thanks, you too!
Great find..Wow!..The vehicle that was half tank, half tractor
Yes it was
M7 turrent went on top of Renault ft 17 tank .
look at the shape on the cut away diagram of the tank. Round entry/ exit hatch to the rear top, and gun opening to the front( square)
Great that you two share time doing this.
Thanks my friend.
Great to see this site. Stay well!
Thanks, you too!
I was waiting for your follow up video and here it is! Thanks and keep them coming. Just to let you know, about a year ago, from watching your videos, I bought a metal detector and have been having a blast with it. I am about to retire so I will be looking for places in Pennsylvania to continue searching. We have a lot of hidden history because of the Revolutionary War and the Civil War in Pennsylvania, not to mention all of the Native Indian artifacts to be found. So neat you found the gun. Biggest gun I been on was on the USS New Jersey Battleship. Spent the night on that ship. One off my bucket list.
wow must have been great experience. Thanks for watching.
Always great information on past history👍👍 sending a huge thank-you an Eagle Eye from Connecticut USA
Awesome! Thank you!
Pretty amazing. Looking forward to more.
More to come for sure.
Suddenly..... you hear an 120 year old German WW2 soldier shouting out from a bunker : ... “ stop ..... right password or I will shoot „ 🍀🍀🍀✌️😂✌️🍀🍀🍀
There you go :) Thanks.
Fascinating finds! A French tank! WOW! And the camouflaged gun looks like it could have been in a movie, it is so fresh!
Loved it and such a great location to visit. Thanks Stephanie.
There's 20 of those FT17's in the USA that are in good running condition. They're actually M1917 light tanks that were near copies of the FT17 that were produced stateside for The Great War. The first two arrived weeks after the war ended.
Thanks for watching.
Interesting glacier vehicle! I've never seen anything like it! Then finding the tank! WOW!
Yes loved that place. Thanks and more to come :)
Man, I wish I lived where you lived so I could do all the stuff you do.

@@WW2HistoryHunter where are you from? this tank deserve the restoration! Maybe some museum would like to care about it?
Thank you
You're welcome
Wow you're so lucky to live in the area so much history love the tank oh my God thank you for this video the history Hunter is the best
Glad you enjoyed it Bobby :)
This place seems to be somewhat cared for. I wonder if it is or was a museum.
They do take care of them as good as they can it seems. Thanks
Nice to see it’s not vandalized and covered in graffiti too.
Norway inherited something close to the worlds largest costal defenses from the germans after the war. A lot of these were manned and operational for many years during the cold war. Norway has around half of Europe's coast line so there was a lot to defend. This fort got its french guns dismantled just after the war to be used elsewhere. From 1948 it was used by the national guard, with some 7.5 cm artillery. Set to in some sense guard the bridge seen in the background, but mostly for training. The fort was used for training up to 1998. It is now a very basic museum run by a non profit organization
Wow, what great finds, I am sure Eagle Eyes had fun sitting in the gun with all those handles to turn. Be safe my friend.
yes he was so pumped and he really turned and twisted all knobs and handles. Thanks for watching.
I love this type of WW2 history.
Thank you for showing this.
I wonder if Bruce Crompton watches this?
Thanks for watching.
I thought the tank was a Renault. I remember seeing pictures of them in a book about the history of Renault. If I remember correctly, they were developed by Renault under a contract for the French military for use in its' territories in Africa, most of which saw a lot of unrest in the period before the war. Obviously, light weight (for an armoured vehicle) was an advantage in sandy, semi-desert terrain. The large width of the tracks, as shown by how far the rollers of the undercarriage are away from the hull, would give the vehicle a very large footprint that would hugely reduce the risks of sinking in the sand and getting bogged. That feature would also make it useful in boggy areas, and even, potentially, on ice such as frozen rivers and lakes, while its' small size would make it very easy to conceal in wooded areas or even out in the open using camo netting as its' small size gives less for the eye to be drawn to to then discern clearly man-made shapes which is what can easily give away camouflaged equipment. The engine was a standard, production pre-war Renault large car or light truck engine...
Thanks for comment and for watching.
Absolutely great find so cool stuff 😎
Thanks 👍
The little tank looks like a WW1 FT-17 Renault that was still inservice in WW11 but obsolete for front line duties...
yes it is and thanks.
Very cool history about French tank ww1 , good job !!!!
Thanks my friend.
Incredible find!
Thanks Barney
What a location. All the bunkers and cannons. Incredible these places.🪖Stay safe you two.
Thanks, you too!
The cannon is a 10.5 cm SK C/32 naval gun adapted for coastal artillery employment.
ok and thanks for comment and for watching.
I knew that tank looked familiar! I used to play an online game called World of Tanks, and they have tanks from WW1 and WW2, and the Renault is one of the tanks you get to play! It was a very light and fast tank. It didn't do as much damage as its bigger brothers, but it was meant to be a fast-strike tank, something that is in quick, fire off a few rounds and move to another location to do it again. It was really good at disorienting the enemy so it's bigger brothers can lob in a few really big rounds and do a lot of damage without taking too much of a beating.
Thanks for comment and for watching Reed.
Great video amazing guns and infrastructure
i agree very nice location to study. Thanks Jacqui
I believe they have one if these at the Virginia ear museum in Newport News, Virginia. You used to be able to climb on all the tanks and artillery. They have an atomic cannon, a twin 40 AA tank and an old 155 mm self propelled howitzer.
good to know and thanks for watching.
