    Another fantastic location, another fantastic video. That site must have been buzzing with activity when it was alive. Classic large flak position. The three round stone walled sites look like Freya radar locations, one to find the bombers, one to direct the fighters, and one to do either task, and those three sites in the middle contained the large rangefinder, generators and electrical equipment, surrounded by the flak guns themselves. That metal tower might have been for communications to HQ. Such a pity that bunker was flooded. So much History. My friends you do us an amazing service bringing this to us. By far the best channel on TH-cam. Thank you so much! Cheers!

    At 14:28 what is that huge thing just standing there in the background? Look left of building and you will see 2 trees that are together and do you see something or someone big or massive just left of those trees standing there , I would say it's at the 10 o-clock position .I have been looking at this thing on my phone screen and it scares the Hollymadonna out of me!!!.

    Odd that those spiders are active when it's so cold. They don't bother me at all. They are just a part of nature. It's war and the very thought of it that scares me. People forget too easily, so it's good you're keeping the reality of WW2 in the spot light.

    As usual,a fascinating exploration WW2HH! Those spiders however, are babies compared with some the arachnids we have here in Australia. Our Huntsman spiders can grow to the size of a small dinner plate, and while relatively harmless, they can give you the fright of your life when you encounter them. Not to mention the many others who are decidedly dangerous to life and limb. I share your revulsion of all spiders, and like yourself, I hate to meet up with them unexpectedly in dark places. Keep up the good work, but keep a keen eye out for those pesky critters.

    Great tunes at the intro. Yes, it is tragic that, that huge underground barracks was flooded with stank cow dung water. YECH!!!! It would have been so interesting to go inside and investigate a bit. It was a huge ammo storage structure with ammo pockets- yes mental. Wonder what that V8 was for also? Great catch EE in finding the huge electrical beam and entrance into the bunker. It's a good thing you had your handy, dandy O Lite 🔦. Thank you for taking us in there with you. I don't like spiders either though. Also a great find EE in locating the barracks. It was something to see. Very well constructed. Also, a shame the cows did their business in there. Another very interesting WW2 history video brought to you by HH & EE. 😊 Thanks.

      We were stationed in Germany in the late 70s and again in the 80s. Loved visiting Bastogne and the “Nuts! Museum.” We also took a tour of the Maginot Line, arranged by our Society of American Military Engineers group through the French military - not sure if that is still available today. It was very interesting to go underground through the passageways and up to where the gun placements were. There were still drawings on the wall showing the topography and what gun settings were required to hit the different points within range of the gun. Gun placements were overlapping so they could fire on their own guns if the Germans were able to capture a site. Of course, the Germans went around the Maginot line and invaded France through Belgium making the Maginot Line pretty much useless.

    What a great site. I wonder if the last bunker was a mess? Would explain the sink in the entrance as it would be for washing hands or mess tins on going in/out, something that is still done in the military today. The other section with only the connecting hole could be a kitchen then with the hole being a serving hatch? Pure speculation obviously but what a fascinating site.

    I wonder what the trucks were? The one in front looked a little bit like an Opel Blitz chassis - if the markings on the tyres said 'Fulda', 'Gelande' or 'Continental' then they may well be wartime.
    The 'girder' could be anything - but it seems to have red oxide primer on it, so I wonder if it was part of a mobile crane, maybe even a girder section of a 'strabokran' - folding field crane for lifting / repairing / installing heavy equipment and vehicles.

    This must be at a high elevation to have pockets of ice in the fields at this time of the year (summer). I'm impressed that the ceiling is holding up so well, what with the wood supporting the cement. With the farmers having used the area, I think nothing of value would be there even if everything were accessible.

    • @dougscott8161
      @dougscott8161 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought it may possibly have been part of a radar antenna, some of the early radars seemed to have antennae that looked more like horizontally mounted tower sections.

    • @hmsjr0154
      @hmsjr0154 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a very good possibility. At one time wasn’t the early radar built more like a rectangular type structure? Will have to look through old books with pictures from that time frame

    Can you tell we’re the runway was? I wonder if there would be anything laying around were a damaged plane may have crashed landed? You may have to change Eagle Eyes name to Bunker Boy the way he finds these bunkers. We’ll call you Spider-Man lol. Am impressed with how you know what most of the locations are. I know you do research but finding them in the terrain is wonderful. The Germans really believe in building bunkers.

      Always nice to revisit your videos. My eyes search the screen looking for anything I may have missed. The vehicle you found with the engine, I don’t think it was from the WW2 time period. I believe most engines in that time frame were flathead engines. Has to be exciting to be exploring a location and look up and see another one. Eagle Eyes has a way with discovering the hidden bunkers. Those were some huge bunkers for the troops to live in.
