    Most Chinese herbs, eg American ginseng and Tien ma ,recommended using double boil. Is using slow cooker just as effective?

    Wonderful video. Is this soup also called yuk Choi tong in Chinese ?

      Hi @Amy, no this is not yuk choi tong. I assume yuk choi tong is in Cantonese. Do you mean Yu Zhu in Mandarin? Unfortunately, unlike Mandarin, Cantonese doesn't have a standardised romanisation, so it is hard for me know exactly which herb you are referring to. Ad for this soup in the video, it is my family's clinic own recipe.

    I bought Red Gingseng and added Sat Hoot because I have dampness in my lungs to clear. I used high pressure Instapot for 80 min. Soup color was dark brown and bitter and sour. Tasty a bit like burnt flavor. Can you tell me if this how its supposed to taste?

    Hello. I wonder if you have any herds recipes for people recovery from cancer? 'Most of the time after chemo they are weak, tried and unable to tastes anything. And also feel cold and hot sometimes. THANK YOU

      @LowScoville, I don't as most herbs after such long cooking become not very nice to eat, except sometimes red dates and Goji still tasty.

      Traditional Mix Chinese Herbs Soup 1. Goji Berries (2 Tbsp) 2. Honey Plums (4 Nos) 3. Red Dates deseed (15 Nos) 4. Dang Gui (10g) or 5 Nos 5. Solomon Seal (25g) 6. Astragalus Roots (10g) 7. Dang Shen (Dong Sum) 15g 8. Chinese Yam (Huai Shan) 15g 9. Being Qi (6 pcs) 10. Dried Longan 15 nos. 11. Water (6 rice bowl) Chicken (1 or 2 whole leg) cut bite size de-skin. Added seasoning for soup: Salt or light soy sauce 'kikoman' (1 tablespoon korean round spoon) & 1 teaspoon sugar (optional) SOUP: Can be use for thin noodles 'mee sua' Added extra seasoning for noodles, I added 1 tsp fried garlic & oil, vegetables (hand slices oyster mushrooms & spinach). My style. Taste very good. I use electric auto steamer setting 2 hours. Use kettle boiling water in and out ceramic pot with cover. Dump everything inside readied in 2 hours.

      HI @Tammy, this is a soup pack, there are many herbs inside. You could purchase soup pack like this in your local herbal soup.

      @venternicky, oh but if you want to use fish in instant pot, the fish will fall apart though. If you want to use fish, depending what fish you use, either at the last 5-10 minutes and make sure don't overcook it!

    Pressure Cooker. Quickest way. Blender hard herbs coarse powder in cloth sacs. Blender herbs essense are faster come out while cooking soup. Advise minimum slow cooker boil (max) 1 hour to 1.45 mins. I never put ginger in chinese herbal soup. Chinese herbal soup is not suppose to have spicy taste. I love electric auto timer steamer (1.40 minutes) just right. Basic seasoning for a boiled soup 1. 1 tablespoon light soy sauce 2. 1 teaspoon sugar (rock sugar)
