So great you did this. Some background (for your viewers--I think I sent you this before): This is the first movement of a longer suite, the “Stabat Mater”, composed in 1736 by Giovanni Pergolesi. It is based on a 13th century hymn about Mary mourning her crucified son. Pergolesi was suffering from tuberculosis, and died the day he completed the suite. He was only 26 years old. “Stabat Mater” is written for soprano and contralto, though the contralto line is often performed by a counter-tenor. In the Epica version, Floor Jansen does the contralto line, which is just mind-blowing in itself given that she normally performs in the soprano register. I love the absolute silence of the crowd as they take this in--such respect!

Just saw Nightwish last month as well, and have tickets for Epica/Sabaton in October in Boston and can't wait! It's a shame that symphonic, prog, and power metal aren't more popular in the US, but the silver lining is I've been able to see some really outstanding bands in small intimate venues, and that's made for some amazing memories.

Next week I will go to see Epica live in concert together with Eluveitie and Ad Infintum! BTW you already did Ad Infinitum as well as Melissa Bonny in other songs, but you should also check out Eluveitie.

I love this piece, although for quite a few years I got pretty sick of it. As you say, it is in the curriculum for many classical schools, and so it was at the school where I studied the violin, where, as the leader of the school's orchestra, I got to play it repeatedly as accompaniment for the vocalists. Some were quite good, a few were excellent, some were just about adequate, and some - well, guess why I got rather sick of it! Thankfully, time heals (at least in that regard), and I can now enjoy it again.
Simone and Floor did an outstanding job with this (not forgetting the orchestra, of course) and I particularly love the richness of Floor's alto singing - well below her usual range, yet clearly very comfortable for her. I'd love to hear her singing more in that range, where she has a fullness of tone that is exceptional (but then, what does she sing that isn't?) Simone has a brighter timbre to her voice anyway, so her taking the soprano part was fitting even if both could sing either - although I don't believe Simone could reach the lower notes in the alto part (now I just await someone pointing me at a song where she does!).
The audience exceeded my already high expectations of a metal audience, as you could have heard a pin drop during this - I've heard more noise at classical concerts. They all clearly appreciate that, as Henk Poort famously said on Beste Zangers, "Good music is good music".

For example, the epica song Delirium ( in first part of the song) brings Simone to an exceptional low note..😉

First of all I am a lover of all music. I call it symphonic metal, other people call it differently. To me people need listen not just with there ears, but with there heart and they will hear the beauty and the serene that any or all music can bring. Forgive me but that is my belief.🌹

    Two things:
    1. Props to Epica for putting this piece into their show.
    2. Something that was pointed out on another reaction video, notice how quiet the crowd is for the performance.
If you didn't know who they were, and came in in the middle of this video, you'd think you were at a classical concert.

A bunch of metalheads in the middle of a Metal concert are absolutly quit and in awe hearing two wonderfull ladies singing live without autotune, playback, etc a baroque church hymn .... ok, and now imagine the same in a hip/hop, rap, pop concert ..... the problem might already start with the fact that the singers are supposed to sing it ^^, I can only think of a few mainstream artists who would be able to do that

In light of what you say that is so true in bringing great beauty in music, would you consider reacting to the legendary Pavarotti performing Nessun Dorma from 1994 in the 3 tenors performance for the World Cup? The problem is we know quality music only too well, but alas, the masses don't. The difference being we search for fulfilling, quality and rewarding music, and the masses are essentially told what to listen to, or buy into, by the so called 'music media', or as I call it the music maffia.

If you like these big deep symphonic metal like Epica and Nightwish, then, Therion is one of the big foundating pillars to check. For example, their song Schwarzalbenheim from the Miscolc Experience concert should give a perfect glance of what they are capable of :-)

I totally feel you about shit being played on the radio.
Beïng from the Netherlands, where bands like After Forever, Within Temptation, Delain, Epica, Ayreon, Stream of Passion and so many others saw the light of day. You think that they get any airtime on national radio? Very very rear when that happpens.
I have heard Nightwish maybe 2 or 3 times (because Floor was visiting the studio probably)
Within Temptation used(!) to get some attention because of the fans who managed to get it in the charts (and after that it blew peoples minds and they got really big in Europe)
If you want to hear these songs on the radio the only chance you get is listening to the lists where people get to vote on their favourite tracks. Like the annual Top2000
Then you do hear a lot of Metallica, Iron Maiden, Within Temptation, Disturbed and even Slayer etc etc. But still most people in the Netherlands don't even know bands like Epica exist! They don't have a clue because they never get a chance to listen to it.
Ps: When you decide to throw your bra on stage at the Epica show..... please rember to make sure to have footage of it and place it on the channel. I guarantee it will generate some "like and subscribe" action 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😍😍

    Hello my beautiful Anastasia.
Just a thought, but would you happen got time to try and do this song as cover, and if you have another temple friend or if your GF can sing and you'd do this similarly. Or try covering the Nortward song Floor did. It has little weird beat ,but that you could cover by yourself. Now that song is easily found from YT

BTW I never can't find the time to join your live streams...
That bothers me somewhat. Especially when your thumbnail is so sexy and tasteful at the same time.
You loo, so beautiful in that dress and idk how tall girl are you, but you got legs for days in that pic.(Must confess I'm in love)
Well I guess I should ask you some updates on your cover/new song front? Any new material coming up soon? I was listening some Ad infinitum the other day, and there was one song that when I heard that I was thinking of you. And how it could sound sang by you. I need to find that song again and send you reaction request to it or PM you in twitch or someplace. Because I find many Melissa Bonny songs are more head voice typing mostly, and I was wondering if you operatic/classical background would bring something new twists to those songs. Feel free to check them in your time if you want, I'm betting you would find 1-3 songs immediately that you'd like to cover. Or test with your voice. And I apologize the start ranting in my comment. Well u know yourself that as well. You are pretty. Very much so.

I can really listen to nearly all kinds of music like rock, pop, metal, prog, jazz and even classic, but i absolutely hate rap / hip-hop. I guess its because for me melody is always very important and there is mostly no melody in this kind of so called "music". Ok, i also dislike growling in metal, maybe its the same reason ?
And the only song where a rapper is involved is "And we run" from Within Temptation, where the rapper in the end plays more the role that else growlers do, and its ok here since its only a short part and we have the melody from Sharon all the time on top of it.

As I thought, I need to write a slightly longer comment than the standard one ...
    1. I stopped following your channel a while ago because you seemed like a very selfish and mannered girl to me. I still think you are a little mannered, but I discovered something positive about you. Perhaps it is the effect of the fact that you have a complete right to be like that, you are pretty, you sing well, you have a "punch" to be known, why not take advantage of it? Especially because you have talent, which is important. Worse than promoting other talents of talent they do not have :)
    2. I promise that I will return to your films, those that I haven't seen recently because you have earned my respect with a few comments, statements that not everyone would be able to post on YT, especially those about the quality of today's music. All that fake music, that goddamn Autotune (which should be banned in music). I guess that in the US the music level is unfortunately not too high, I also mean the metal scene. A lot of Americans say so. just watch YT :)
    3. I have been living and living in Italy for many years and unfortunately I have to deal with the "plague" of popular music, especially the TRAP style (I do not even consume it, worse than the American dab-rap-pop) and that is why Rock and Metal died. And there is a terrible lack of good bands, concerts and that's why I'm jealous of this performance of Epica in October.
    4. A very important thing that you said, these thousands of people, metal people, who in concentration, respect and adoration listened to "Stabat Mater Dolorsa" from 1736 makes me think that maybe (as you say) not everything is still lost, there is hope .
    Regards
