I knew my mind was made up when the recruiter said he was living in a small apartment and he could not cover dental insurance for his kids. The recruiter could not give me one good reason to join so I walked out and never responded to his calls
Ask the current enlisted who are leaving at what feels like a 100% rate whenever their contract expires

NO. Its not the human resource. The money goes to protecting our country in cyberspace. You don't need alot of soldiers for that. We are also building planes ships, etc. The other thing is research and development. There is much more to it than just a smaller force. They just can't get the people for a number of reasons.

Recruiter here: its because of MHA Genesis. A program that screens all civilians medical records who attempt to join. It’s causing an absolute havoc.
Coupled with the shut down/exfil of Iraq/Afghanistan. It only makes things worse as to how it was handled and the media that came from it.
Us military folk may be getting a 5% pay raise, but it should have been 20-30% to out perform the civilian sector to attract more applicants.
Lastly, civilian sectors offer better pay and benefits that the military is severely behind on.
But the Genesis program… brutal.
If we get too small we will have to pull people back from other countries. I’d actually prefer that. We have a lot of unnecessary bases around the globe.
