  • America's military faces a recruiting crisis, with three of the five branches failing to meet their manpower goals this year. Big bonuses, loosened enlistment requirements, and new advertising slogans did not push the services out of their slumps and lawmakers want answers. Mike Gooding has the latest from Capitol Hill.

As a veteran, I do NOT recommend joining the military at all.

I would not encourage any young person to join the military or police. Why risk everything for a bunch of ungrateful politicians and activist who hate you!! Stay home and protect your loved ones. We are all on our own!!!

I’m shocked the “my two moms” recruitment drive didn’t work.

Why fight for politicians who want you to own nothing and be happy about it?

Yea no one wants to go to war for a military industrial complex. All of my brothers including myself have been telling everyone not to enlist.

As a veteran, I’d suggest using the illegal immigrant that seem to matter more than the American people!

Guys, it's not worth serving. It won't make you a badass, it's not worth it, and don't listen to the "It's your country" because it's not. It's an economic zone, you don't matter.

You have solider selling their plasma in order keep light on that should say enough about the pay

Can't find affordable housing, a good job, normal people, or decent food in this country. Joining the military would just add to so many uncontrollable problems. Nobody can trust they won't be abused or patronized by joining the military, since this is what is most likely to happen. God forbid anyone see that you care or want to do good, people here are conditioned to destroying those trying to do this. To preserve my self-respect, I'm moving back to Europe; at least I can afford a basic apartment and be more relaxed around people like me. I had to experience America... at least I got to see her in her Twighlight.

They risk their lives for our country but their pay is stopped when an agreement is not made on a budget, however, the very ones who won't come to an agreement, get their paychecks as usual. One man is allowed block several military promotions, congress is allowed to vote on their own pay increases... the list goes on..

Uncle Sam loves and wants you when you're whole. When you're broken and messed up, you're forgotten out the street with your claims denied.
