In the lore it is said Sir Alonne was the best Janitor the land has ever known if you notice the floors in the room are stainless but he realized he never could whole hearty get rid of filth no matter how hard he tried and locked himself away in the worlds cleanest room, he truly is a terrifying....
i noticed something, the battle begins from where he sits on the tiles, and the battle ends with him at the same position from the beginning

Little do people know there’s an easy secret way to beat Alonne.
When he does his two-swing attack, you do your strong attack from his right side and it knocks off his footwear. Then, quite obviously, his balance while wearing only his socks on the impeccably clean floor turns his movement clumsy, even comical. Easy from there. No gitting gud or tedious backtracking required

This felt like a longer video than it really was, but then again with how good this fight was, that's not a bad thing. I can see why this a favorite boss in the game by many.

There’s one thing about this fight that too many people don’t realize. You aren’t actually playing as yourself here, you are playing as the iron king before he became the lava monster. When you enter a memory you are just reliving events that already happened. The man who killed Sir Alonne was was his closest friend, who used his soul to create an iron monster called the smelter demon
If the one thing that fascinates me in ds2 is the lore its very good .... Unlike the clusterfuck of controls which I can't seem to get hang of
I'm not sure about that actually. Wouldn't that imply that in the giant memories you're playing as whichever giant's memory it is? Which wouldn't really make sense, since in the giant memories: 1) you talk to a soldier of king vendrick, who obviously would have been immediately hostile if you were a giant 2) you actually fight and kill many giants, and they are hostile towards you, and 3) you kill the giant lord, who would apparently be your king. I'm not knocking your theory, I actually love it, please tell me if there's something I missed? Also sorry if I'm reading into this way too far, I'm a writer and a stickler for consistency hehe
Daniel No it would imply you were another soldier who killed the giants. In Alonne’s memory we don’t play as him, we kill him but as the Iron king, which we know must be true because it is confirmed that Alonne died to the Iron King. So that means that we must have been playing as the Iron King. So for the giant memories we must have been some soldier, although who we were is a lot harder to tell
@@eliasgibson4743 that would be true if the memory was called alonne's memory, but it's called "memory of the old iron king", which would make sense if you did indeed play as the old iron king, but if this rule is consistent - the holder of the memory is who you play as in that memory - that's where i have the problem with the giant memories, because you don't play as a giant. by the way, you could absolutely be correct in your theory, and it actually could be fromsoft that is being inconsistent in this case

@@nuclearelectronicdude4258 Well I'm not on the ds2 hate bandwagon but it definitely had some bulshit...I guess ruin sentinels, throne watcher and defender, lud and zallen, royal rat authority, graverobber and co, ancient dragon, skeleton lords, belfry gargoyles (maybe the most bs of the lot), by bs I mean pretty unfair not just rubbish because then we'd be swapping a few more in. I actually don't mind some of those bosses I listed but they are kinda unfair and not as much fun as they should have been. You?
The whole game is unfair, that's how they build its difficulty, it's all about tons of enemies everywhere, and when you kill them, more appear by surprise from the ground and ambush you... that sucks... in DS1, you could see pretty much everything that was coming... in DS2, you understand why they put tons of enemies : because pretty much anything you fight 1 on 1 is so dumb, slow and predictable that you have to be distracted by smaller mods to have some challenge.
After you beat an area in DS2, it's not even like "yeah, I did it !", no, it's more like "thanks God that bullshit is over"... DS2 devs seem to have lost sight of why DS1 was so good and satisfying.
His theme with the beautiful background and epic battle make this boss one of my favorites

Plot twist: Sir Alonne is Genichro’s long lost cousin.
The weapon that Alonne is using is known as a Nagamaki. It's sort of a fusion between a Katana, and a Polearm that was primarily used against cavalry.
Categorically wrong _(and I see some fool even added Sir Alonne to the Nagamaki's wikipedia page, lmao)_
The handle of nagamaki is about equal or longer than the blade.
Meanwhile the handle of a nodachi/oodachi can be anywhere between 1/4 and 1/2 of the blade's length. Which is the exact case here.

Probably one of my favourite bosses in the entire franchise. To me ds2 bosses are quite forgettable but damn this one is good. From software have a thing for putting the best bosses in DLCs

Best boss of dark souls 2, the theme is definitely on dark souls 3 level, his moveset pushes the boundaries of what dark souls 2 is capable.
i love the boss design of sir alonne and ivory king, they really do feel like they push ds2’s combat to its limit while feeling completely fair and attainable to beat

This is my favorite fight in the entire series. It feels so personal, like a dance between two fighters. Put your shield away and just dance.

Eh.. not so much. DS3 bosses can get pretty tryhard with the different phases. Sir Alonne is a very simple and engaging boss. Most of the bosses in DS3 are sporadic and bombastic.

Imagine if Sir Alonne was made as a boss in Dark Souls 3 and he wouldn't be parriable.
Sir Alonne was actually pretty easy. Just getting to the boss arena was the hard part. I had a hard time because I almost never upgraded agility and his hit boxes are just awful. Roll right every time and he’s done for.
Replayed ds2 a couple months back, this guy wasn’t too bad… I got my ass kicked by Fumey though

I went through a dipshit phase in Dark Souls 2 when I constantly looked for ways to cheese bosses or find a easy loophole to beat shit. I started advancing through the game on wit and cowardice then skill. I tried every cheese technique found on TH-cam against this guy and he beat them all. Finally, for whatever reason, I fought him. Hit dodge, learn the moves ect and I kicked his ass easy. Was a real turning point moment for me in the SoulsBorne games.
One of if not The Best boss fight I've ever had since ganondorf in twilight princess, such an epic boss and yes.. The king of clean floors...

Tbh this fight felt easier. It was hard doing the no-hit to make him seppuku, but asides from that he's pretty standard. Fume Knight took me 7 straight hours of hell to beat

Finally made it to this guy today. Getting Artorias flashbacks, but at least I don't have to fight the Fume Knight anymore. Alonne may be faster be he seems relatively simplistic otherwise. Just need to get his moves properly beaten into me, I guess.

Agreed guys, it wasn't perfect but it was still an absolutely top class game that deserves way more credit than it gets 🤷♂️. If the whole game was just fighting sir alonne and fume knight, it would be better than alot of games lol
DS2 is good but disapointing, because it's not "challenging but fair" as DS1 was, as if they just didn't get why DS1 was so cool, it wasn't because it was a "hard game for hardcore gamers", putting everything on its difficulty... DS2 does that, tons of enemies everywhere, and when you kill everybody, more enemies are hidden, it's just not fun... it's better to fight 1-3 enemies well designed than fight a horde of dumbasses which are only hard because of the number... pretty much anything you fight 1 on 1 in DS2 is ridiculously easy...
Old Iron King dlc is the only one in ds2 with bosses that can stand toe to toe with the best bosses from other Souls games.
Fume knight and sir alonne are definitely miyazaki bosses yeah. They nailed these two well.
