The issue is NEW YORK RADIO DOES NOT SUPPORT NEW ARTISTS, old or new. I knew NY radio was on some silliness when they banned and blackballed the WuTang Clan. The South typically don't have those problems bc most times, the music is passed down properly. Young ATL KNOW about older artists in ATL because for the most part, songs are still in the ecosystem via sampling. In NY, the radio doesnt support the artists, the YOUNGER artists ABANDON the "NY sound" in search of a "new" sound (but end up sounding like Southern artists) and when you have that going on for so long, you lose whatever identity is left.
