As a veteran of TV production and engineering, I appreciate the work you’ve put in make this channel look like a million bucks. It looks and sounds better than a lot of (or even most) local TV production, and seriously competes with the networks. Can you share the make and model of your main camera? The color quality is outstanding! It helps that your lighting looks dynamite as well.
This is why the Sharks are going to be a better organization with you in the fold. Your attention to detail speaks volumes. Appreciate everything you do and thank you for letting us see behind the scenes.
Thanks for sharing how you put these reports together, that's so impressive. You are such a pro, and it shows. I hope people realize how many "hats" you have to wear to pull this off, and how talented you are to do this. It's not easy. Well done.
I watch everyone of these behind the scenes videos. For a basement production, it honestly looks like a remote TV studio. I hope you can build upon this and national news outlets can use you in your studio for guest commentary. I also agree that you are ahead of others on topics. Playing chess while they are playing checkers.
You display an amazing amount of professionalism in your TH-cam channel. If only some other TH-camrs would take the time to learn from your channel. 👍👍
This is so fascinating in seeing how this type of video production works, and yet there is a lot to learn component wise. Even with the rapid pace of technology, it feels like we're in college and trying to grasp as much information as we can in a short period of time. And to see it all put together looks almost seamless, but as you mentioned a few times--practice indeed makes perfect. This goes also for podcasters who record not only with video, but with audio as well.
Your audio and content are world class. I close down lots of TH-cam videos because of annoying voices, annoying sounds (yeah, I'm speaking to TH-camrs that insist upon machine music in the background) and a general lack of professionalism in presentation. If your broadcasting career takes a dive, I'm sure you could make a killing installing home studios, hehe.
very kind of you! worked in the broadcast industry for about 25 years if you can believe it already. picked up a lot of production knowledge along the way
Nice! I commented on your post about this one, and I'm excited to watch this video now. 20 minutes, too! 5:07 - no script, that makes sense why your videos feel so organic.
I first started following you near the middle of the baseball season (I think) talking about Oakland leaving. At the time, I thought you were a professional commentator, or radio news personality or something like that and this was your "real" studio and we could find you weekdays on KOAK AM780 or something (I live in NY so I don't know Cali stations). This insight into your home studio is fantastic.
Thanks for giving us a behind the scene look at how everything is done. I really enjoyed learning about the production process, even if i couldn't quite catch a few of the technical details. Just thought the whole set up was very cool and impressed me with how everything comes together in your videos.
This was great to see. I been aquiring stuff to setup a studio myself and i just go the elgato foot pedal and have 2 stream decks as well. Definitely gives me some ideas
THANK YOU for the insiders view. The use of Keynote is a great tip. I'm just learning how to integrate a Elgato Teleprompter now... And it seems many people use the foot pedals... Your production values are second to none...
Brodie you are the Frank Sinatra of TH-cam, I really appreciate Your professionalism and material is always presented so very classic that I always want to hear from you and believe you are the cream of the crop, others can only be compared to the best, which is Brodie Brazil. Thank You for all you do, keep up the great work I'm a big Fan.
I really enjoy your coverage of stories. Congrads on your new position. I do hope you will be able to contirnue your TH-cam channel covering vairious sporting issues and events.
As an amateur video producer and editor I appreciate the BTS look at how you do it all. I am trying to get my wife her own baking channel and am always looking for ideas for equipment she may need. Beside my GoPro….
You’re the man, Brodie. I do live production and found this enthralling. Ever consider doing corporate Keynotes? I’m sure you’d provide a ton a value on your perceptions in the sports and journalism fields.
Hey Brodie Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. That studio is impressive alot of hours and hard work I'm sure went into it. Take care
Wow, that was interesting! I think your setup is probably better that most tv station sports offices (if there is such a thing), and probably some of the network’s/ESPN’s sports offices that individuals use, if any. I got to take a tour of a network local affiliate tv studio when I was in high school, so I have some idea of how things used to be, and occasionally have watched clips of local weather people show their equipment. I think you are on par or even more advanced than most local weather people. As producer, director, reporter, and studio host for live interviews and discussions, I think you do an outstanding job. You have to stay up on stuff because sports events and news happen daily. Most TH-camrs have to respond to stuff after it happens. But individual news items happen infrequently even for hot stars like Taylor Swift, hot franchises like Star Wars, and so forth. Probably only video game YTers are as actively producing content as much as you. I hope that the Sharks prominently display your content or at least links, should your content become available here on the BB channel (oh, look, your own BBC 😂). And I really hope they let you continue the non-hockey sports and pop culture stuff. I can see they might not let you do stuff for the competition, as every other pro team in the Bay Area/NorCal is a rival business to your new employers, as would be any league except the NHL. Now, I’m sure minor league content of the Sharks and their affiliates, or other minor leagues related-content would be okay. (I haven’t heard what you’ll be allowed to do, nor what you expected to do, but I will be happy to devour all your Sharks content and anything else you end up making.) Thanks again for the very cool content and congrats once more! Good video!
thanks for the comment. I'll plan to do a video soon explaining my new approach with the new job and the same TH-cam channel. I don't anticipate things to drastically change, although I appreciate folks for asking
Genius! Loved it - had a smile going the whole way though! As a lifelong "gear head", this episode was killer! Would love to hear about the 5 piece rack behind your left arm someday. Best wishes and Merry Christmas Brodie!!
I subscribe because you are sooooo professional. I don’t know your particular background but I think you may have taken many communication courses in college.
I’ve been watching you off and on since the pandemic, and especially when you’d talk with Ahmed Fareed. I’ve been intrigued by how you make your videos and what your at home set up looks like. Like are you in a cubicle size space, blocked off from the rest of the room you’re in? I’m always looked at everything on the screen while you talk. 😊
You forgot to mention your humidifier/Air Filter at the front of the room LOL. With all the gauges and buttons at your hands and feet you remind me of the late great drummer Neil Peart of Rush.
You're such a geek, and thank goodness for that, because that's what makes the technical quality of your videos topnotch. Your content, on the other hand.... Nah, just kidding, your content is also excellent. I have one minor suggestion, but only if it could be done without much additional effort or post work. When showing the keynote graphic, it sometimes is a bit distracting to see all the points at once. I tend to want to read it all while you're talking, but then I'm not focusing on your dialog. I'm sure a lot of viewers prefer that, or don't care, but I'd prefer to have the bullet points revealed as you start to talk about a topic. Of course, that would mean having a chunk of empty screen space in the beginning, so perhaps you could show everything, but highlight current and previous discussion points, with future points greyed out slightly. Just a thought! Also, there is one thing that I kind of like, but am wondering if others are distracted by it. That is, the pretty VU meters bouncing about in the background. I think they add a bit of color and visual interest in an otherwise static setting, so I give them a thumbs up! I also use them to gauge my interest in your video. If I start staring at them and get hypnotized, I know it's time to watch something else. I'm happy to report that rarely happens!
You are a pro, Brodie. I have my own fledgling itty bitty TH-cam channel. I think I have 19 subscribers. It is a work in progress. As a former radio guy, I don’t need to be “on”. Thanks for this video. Merry Christmas to you, your family, and your viewers.
I have a very similar set up (got most of my ideas from your other channel). I went with the rodecaster pro 2 and run everything thru that and OBS. Atem is sweet but i'm eyeing the new videocaster this year.
Your show looks and sounds great. I’m kinda surprised as to the depth of field you’re getting from your main camera considering it’s such a small studio. What camera and lens are you using? What is your lighting setup?
thanks for saying that! yeah the wall isn't too far behind me. using Canon 6D Mk2 (it's old and outdated, doesn't really have much color control or LUTS or painting ability). 50M f1.2 L lens so that's where I get the depth. Shooting at about f2.0 lately. it's key/fill mostly with 2 toplights, the splash below & behind me hitting the walls... and then of Course the Govee LED strips behind me
@ your set really looks great. The 6D may be old, but it’s doing the job. And the lighting is perfect. But I agree. It may be the 50 mm 1.2 that’s giving you the extra production value, especially with such a small set. But that just goes to show that if you craft it, you can make anything look great. I really appreciated the peek behind the curtain on the set- a really interesting video. And of course I love your daily content and perspective on things. Well done!!
hey bud, lifelong A's fan who also does VO. I'm always envious of your set up, as I legit think you have the highest quality AV on TH-cam! Question, how are you dealing with mouth noises and sibilance, because I don't think I've EVER heard it from you? Do you clean it up in post with a plugin like Izotope/Waves? Or are you just blessed with non-issues there?
This was a very cool video. Can we get a video on The Atlanta Braves spending less money and still being favored to win the World Series. Yup I'm a Braves fan lol.
Very interesting video on your production of your videos! Keep up the great content. Do you get paid for dropping all the advertising for all your gadgets in the home studio? Lol
I guess the one thing you left out…probably by choice is … how much does a set up like that cost? Also what was the learning curve to all of this or did you already have the technical and production background from your “day job”. Thanks for all your hard work.
thanks! the real star of the audio setup... (and what costs 90% of it).. is the microphone. it's a Neumann u87ai... and honestly, it've had it almost 5 years... worth every penny these days due to the quality it gives and hopefully it's the last mic I'll ever need to own.. plan on riding its coattails for another 20 years haha. but yeah, it's $3k. 😳
streamdeck XL = has everything, streamdeck mini = mostly for quick cuts in the same scene (changing cameras on a live chat session), streamdeck pedal = mostly to advance keynote slides, streamdeck regular = hooked up to my OTHER Mac for telestrator control
Do you mean, have earnings paid for new equipment? Because the answer is absolutely… like … all of it. Haha. I just didn’t know if that was the question.
Thanks for sharing 👍 You touched a bit on the audio software, but what video software do you prefer to “put all the pieces together” and make your video file to upload to TH-cam? Thanks
Hey man...Love your channel, love baseball. I work for the US Space Force doing this stuff (we use Vaddio and Crestron) and I also own a recording studio. I was thinking about starting a podcast again. I have a bunch of equipment. Roland Vid Switcher, crap-ton of Mics (Neumann u-87 and others), apollo uad's plugins, and all of the audio stuff. My bottleneck has been Video camera. Wondering what is a good main Camera, if anyone has suggestions?
wow, impressive audio gear. video isn't too difficult anymore... any mirrorless camera with HDMI out can plug into an ATEM switcher... ISO record all the cameras onto 1 hard drive at the same time. they each make synced up files with the audio embedded. makes editing afterwards a breeze. contact me via email if you'd like consultation.
It’s amazing how tech has allowed people to produced such polished videos. Just 20 years ago this wasn’t really possible. Such an awesome setup Brody.
well stated, I agree with that. amazing how far things have come
As a professional veteran video editor I REALLY like your set up and how you’re showing the work that goes into making your videos.
As a veteran of TV production and engineering, I appreciate the work you’ve put in make this channel look like a million bucks. very kind of you to say that, thank you! sometimes... it's a lot to bite off and chew haha
It’s always a treat to see how so many years of broadcast experience can apply to TH-cam. And I now feel the inexplicable urge to get a telestrator…
haha, I'm telling you tom, telestrator = game changer. you can match all your custom colors too. hit me up if you want to see how it's done!
I watch everyone of these behind the scenes videos. For a basement production, it honestly looks like a remote TV studio. Jimmy from Chicago…..Thanks Brodie…..Work,time and effort….Nothing in life is cut and dry…..
……Really love your talent and professionalism….😊😊😊
These are my favorite type of videos! 🎉 Thanks Brodie!
I wish everyone took the trouble to be so professional. Thanks.

No wonder your videos are so easy to watch. My gosh, this is immense. How in the world did you learn all of this? Trial and error, school, other?
very kind of you! worked in the broadcast industry for about 25 years if you can believe it already. picked up a lot of production knowledge along the way
Ever since I began watching your videos, I could tell you have experience in broadcasting and are very comfortable in front of the camera.
Thanks so much for sharing your workspace. Your professionalism and commitment to your craft is much appreciated. Keep up the great work Brodie!
Subscriber in Texas here. Your attention to detail has always been obvious. Great work.
Gunna need Brodie coverage for the giants when the season starts 👀🔥🔥🔥

thanks! I'd do them for folks if it was a thing... is that a thing? haha
Hey Brodie Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. That studio is impressive alot of hours and hard work I'm sure went into it. Take care
Such a cool video. Thank you Brodie for the time and effort you put into making such quality videos.
It would be fun to see some of your bloopers.
I love your channel! Keep up the great work! Love the aesthetics of your videos too!
This is such a cool content! Can’t even imagine what is coming in January! Go Brodie, Go Sharks

Oh. And my youngest son is trying to become a TH-camr as well (in video gaming), and really liks his stream deck, too🤣!
thanks for the comment. I'll plan to do a video soon explaining my new approach with the new job and the same TH-cam channel. I don't anticipate things to drastically change, although I appreciate folks for asking
@ thanks for you response, I look forward to viewing that video on what you will be doing, as well as the videos on what you will actually be doing! 😁
Genius! Loved it - had a smile going the whole way though! As a lifelong "gear head", this episode was killer! Would love to hear about the 5 piece rack behind your left arm someday. Best wishes and Merry Christmas Brodie!!
that was the 2018 audio setup haha, before I went UAD. decided to keep this stuff though for its analog looks
@brodiebrazil that's awesome!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family, Brodie! THANK YOU for all of the wonderfully insightful coverage throughout the year! 🎄🎄🎄

haha, thanks!
Merry Christmas Brodie. Keep using that telestrator, it’s a great tribute to John Madden.
good call. BOOM!
You forgot to mention your humidifier/Air Filter at the front of the room LOL. With all the gauges and buttons at your hands and feet you remind me of the late great drummer Neil Peart of Rush.
haha, yes climate control is key! and yes, I'm using the foot pedals like a musician for sure

You should do a video about what is going on with RFK Stadium in Washington DC.
Fantastic idea. Fantastic video!

I love this stuff. What is the program where you have the big analog clock on the screen?
It's called WallTime by Paravel Systems: th-cam.com/video/kcG7ailkizs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kkEsZtgvETB7MqOu

thanks! I wish!! don't really have any partnership/endorsements for any of it. paid for it all with the revenue from the channel as it grew
I guess the one thing you left out…probably by choice is … how much does a set up like that cost? Also what was the learning curve to all of this or did you already have the technical and production background from your “day job”. Thanks for all your hard work.

Great video. I'm curious about the function of all 3 stream decks and the ballpark amount of investment of all the gear of your set up.
streamdeck XL = has everything, streamdeck mini = mostly for quick cuts in the same scene (changing cameras on a live chat session), streamdeck pedal = mostly to advance keynote slides, streamdeck regular = hooked up to my OTHER Mac for telestrator control
Hey Brodie , do a video on…”Why is Sharks Pre & Post show so boring without you” 😉
Brodie, have you done any upgrades evolving any member earnings? Just was curious.
Do you mean, have earnings paid for new equipment? Because the answer is absolutely… like … all of it. Haha. I just didn’t know if that was the question.
Hell yeah
Thanks for sharing 👍 You touched a bit on the audio software, but what video software do you prefer to “put all the pieces together” and make your video file to upload to TH-cam? Thanks
good question - I use adobe premiere for video editing and media encoder to make the final file. upload it manually to TH-cam.
"The Wizard shows us what's behind the curtain."
Happy Holidays!
Hey man...Love your channel, love baseball. I work for the US Space Force doing this stuff (we use Vaddio and Crestron) and I also own a recording studio. how long does it take for you to do all of the background research and create the slides for each video?
I'd say each video is at LEAST 30 mins of research, planning and making the keynote before I go hit record.
💯🔥💪
So that’s how the sausage is made!
Is that a Mac or PC? And What is the keynote software called?
I use 2 Macs in the studio... the keynote software is... Apple Keynote. haha.
I have noticed that the Twitter logo is in the background, even though Twitter doesn't exist anymore.
haha, yeah I'm working on that. replacing that frame with a monitor
How much did it cost you to purchase all of this equipment? I know, it's not cheap!
definitely in the thousands. a lot of years of uploading videos to pay for it all. ahha
How did you learn to make videos
Been doing it since 1994 or so... on VHS tapes
Cool thanks for the reply
Who is the voice of the man that says your name?
Jeff Collins! wordswithimpact.com
The fake plant is your co-star . Maybe give him his own TH-cam channel .
haha, it's been around almost 20 years if you can believe it!
I like it, Picasso
