Yes, if NISSAN discontinues the MAXIMA it will be a mistake. MY wife and I are now on our 4th MAXIMA. We have enjoyed owning everyone of them.
thanks for watching nissan has stated that the maxima will return as an all eletric tesla competitor
I just traded my 2017 Platinum Maxima for a 2023 Platinum Maxima... I love this car!! I hate to see Nissan drop it.
me too
I have no problem with my maxima for 6 years already. It’s a very nice and fun car to drive.
they certainly are thanks for watching!
SUVs are the worst thing to happen to the automarket. Most of them are ugly, most of them never have the extra space utilized for anything, they're awful for the environment, and people still buy them for some reason
its all in the marketing
Most people only buy them because they sit higher up and for ground clearance but im in full agreement, im tired of the trend.
I wish it did have 380hp. It actually has 300hp and 261lb-ft torque
sorry i messed it up
@@carsunlocked Still a great video. The Maxima will be missed. Still can’t that they’re retiring their longest running nameplate 😢
gonna miss the maxima. probably my favourite Nissan.
thanks for watching
I just got a used 2018 Platinum Maxima for $13,000 with only 40k miles on it a few weeks ago. 🎉 It's a shame it's being discontinued.
its coming back as an ev
That’s a Nissan muscle car right there.😂
thanks for watching
It could have been something special for its final year. Maybe replace the old VQ35 with a NA VR30, permanent AWD and the 9 speed auto.
@@joelgittens6857 Agree. Nissan needs to think like Toyota.
@@mrgurulittle7000 They need to take their minds out of their rear ends. The have no true sports sedan now and to top it off the could've brought back the GTI-R years ago before the GR Corolla was even a thought at Toyota. Whenever I see a Sentra, Altima or Maxima SR I see wasted potential and a lie.
@@joelgittens6857 Agree. I wish Nissan (and Mitsubishi) would go back to their roots and just give us souped up cars. I mean, we aren’t asking anything special.
Definitely a mistake. People are still buying sedans but the price and lack of redesign is deterring people from just getting a crossover instead. It doesn’t help that the design has gone stale. As a former Nissan owner, Nissan has gotten so lazy in their designs and technology. The Maxima was neglected for too long and they’ve done it a huge disservice. Then there’s the horrible CVTs they insist on using, and then rolling out the Armada as all new when it was just a rebadged 2011 Nissan Patrol brought to the states. The Versa, Sentra, and Altima are boring cars and just remind me of flip phones still in existence for people who don’t want smartphones. Like they’ll offer them but won’t make them anything remarkable. Why get a Sentra or Versa when you could get a Mazda 3? Why get a Rogue when you can get a CX-5? Give these vehicles some real performance power and updated tech without resorting to cheap materials.
thanks for watching and great insight word is this is coming back as an electric sedan
@@carsunlocked it’s not the same 🥺
Great video! It's not Nissan that's making the mistake, it's the public. I bought mine new in 2016 and now have 140,000 miles. Perfect car (for me, but I'm single). The best thing I love about it are the passing times; 30-50 & 50-70 mph - if you check out Car and Driver, they have some of the fastest around (in its class, not electric, of course); so you really shock everyone on the highway if you floor it when passing (but let's keep it safe, people). And I can't buy electric, I live in an apartment.
I have a 2016 too, Question: how often if ever do you change transmission fluid??. Impressive 140,000 miles!
@@waynet.7656 I'm a mechanical engineer, so I always do all maintenance. (preventative and otherwise) And I recommend this: CVT fluid change - no more than every 60K miles. Antifreeze - no more than 3 yrs (forget about those long life promises, just do it, it's good not only for the corrosion, but it lubricates the water pump bearing!). Brake fluid - no more than 3 yrs; earlier if it's contaminated (gets dark in color).
thanks for watching
@@mitchluI'm having serious issues with my cvt it slips gears and jerks a lot
@@ammarfaisal4789 The jerkng is usually fixed with a control valve body replacement and/or re-flash of the software. Unfortunately, once they "slip gears" like you are saying, there's not much you can do without replacing them.
Sometimes I think my husband married me for my Maxima! I bought the 2016 SL new in Jan of 2017. It’s been a total Love Affair, and oh the color I got Forged Bronze just sparkles in the sun….but I digress…..😂 It’s beautiful and has been a pleasure to drive. I hate to see Nissan discontinue this model.
thanks so much for watching thats a great colour choice
I bought a Maxima with VG30 engine in 1992.A fantastic car, but trust Nissan to once again make a big mistake. Hand Nissan 's management to Toyota for Nissan to return to it's former glory. We also need to see the return of cars like the 510( my first car in 1976).
thanks so much for watching
I heard they're just redesigning them. People said this about the Frontier awhile back.
apparently its going to become a ev
The mistake was the transmission. Maxima lost it's soul when they stopped installing a real transmission
thanks for watching
@@carsunlocked enjoyed it
I've owned Maximas since 1983!
That's was a Datsun 810
Then had an 1986
Then went with a 1993
Fantastic cars!
I wish I still had my 810!
wow thats incredible thanks for watching
Wait.!!! Maxima does not come with paddle shifters? Is this some sort of mandela effect??
only in the sr
How is the CVT on the Maxima. Also, I 🤔 the price of full sized or the top line models are the reason that they are not selling.
no complaints here about the cvt it is what it is
They destroyed the car in 04 when they ruined the body style then added a pos cvt gearbox.
Removed the manual and made the car larger
a manual would be night
I honestly think nissan is making a mistake getting rid of this nice car just like the nissan titan! Both cars are great and were my dream cars! My family all has nissans and we love the reliability, but sad their dropping these 2 and possibly coming back electric in the future.
your right it is a little disappointing
Let me be that person to just throw the truth about there. A business (Nissan or any other) is in business to make a product. If one or more of your products isn’t selling (Maxima and Titan) it’s time to move on. It doesn’t matter how great a product is if people aren’t buying it. Is it sad for people who love that product? Of course it is. Is sad you a company when they fell they have to discontinue a legacy product? Of course it is, but once again it’s better to discontinue a product(s) than to drag the whole company down with products that aren’t selling.
This makes me so sad. I had a 2018 and it was the best.
me too
Yes, they did, I just traded our 2018 for a new 2023, looks like this will be my last Nissan.
shammmme maybe altima?
I heard that they are skipping a year to retool for a new Maxima in 2025. I had a 2009 and it was a very nice car, but I have a Subaru Legacy Touring XT which I like better. If they bring it back and it's available in about 2034 I will seriously consider one.
rumor has it its going to be and ev
Then forget it I'm notbuying an EV. @@carsunlocked
You did an amazing review of this car! 🎉
Thank you 🤗
More customers prefer to spend 40k on murano than a mid size sedan which is better in snowy weather. Sedans are for those who can't afford an SUV where the altima was successful but where the maxima failed in sales. Nissan could of made the maxima into a sports type of design but than again its just a V6 that could produce 300 HP not unique. You could blame nissan for offering the rogue at a cheaper price than maxima. They plan of offering an electric vehicle in its place😅
great insight thanks for watching
If the Maxima will be EV by 2026/2027 then the name technically won't be going away. 😃 The Sentra is next in line for the longest running name since 1982. 😍
thats correct only time will tell
@@carsunlocked 🥰
Definitely a mistake in Nissans part.... love this car..my brother has a 2017 but i got a 2019 rogue because i was in a budget... eventually i traded my rogue ffor a Murano because its basically a blend of a Maxima and Rogue..
car wont go 140 mph , governor set on 133
why would one need to go that fast
They should make it AWD..
your certainly corrrect
Yes it did
thanks for watching
I hope its a hybrid.
Are you sure about 380 hp. 😮
sorry i meat to say 300
Nooo
thanks for watching
I think they are!
certainly are
Nissan made a mistake by putting same amount of options in Altima for cheaper price tag not many people willing to pay 40k for a Maxima if they able to get same features in a Altima for several thousands less but I still think it's a mistake discontinuing the Maxima
Back in the 80s Maxima competed wit the Toy Cressida while Camry the Stanza (later Altima). Now I'm hearing the Titan is going to be discontinued as well. Tundra wins.... @@cedricmiller4370
It has 300 hp my friend
my bad lol
Murano is better to me
You’re are very very very very very very right 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. MURANO 🖤❤️✅✅✅✅🥰😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉😎
great choice
The Murano is like a crossover version of the Maxima I actually would like to see Maxima and Murano race 😂
Longer than Sentra
ok sir
It's 300 hp not 380 hp 🫡
my mistake
🙏
thanks for watching
😂nissan's mistake is not going hybrid the planet's melting it's time for these macho gas pigs to go,that's why toyota will alway stay ahead of the pack they got the memo who needs 300 hp or v6 save the planet.
thanks for watching
Nissan didn’t need to go hybrid. They built an innovative electric car while Toyota was sure hybrid would be the be all end all.
NOO NOO no no maxima Murano is the top dog 🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝
Murano is hoping to get a redesign soon....
The Murano 😂 The MAXIMA has ALWAYS been nissans TOP FLAGSHIP!! TOP DAWG!! TOP OF THE LINE!!
Maxima is Nissans only top dog, the rest sux.

The Murano IS getting a redesign for model year 2025.
