Ngl, coming back to this I think it's pretty rad that they gave Asimov's voice role to the trailer guy. I'm used to hearing JP Asimov's smooth voice and the "Good Luck" always gets me(especially at the end of GV1) but I am really happy that they gave such a iconic voice to the guy whose been getting us hyped for the games for years.
only issue is that it seems this one is still in a flesh and blood body so he hasn't become Demerzel yet. these fights are very paradoxical in what the characters know but at least with Asimov the timeline seems to point to the time period being between GV1 and IX1. Both Asimov and Nova seem to be aware of their defeats and are aware of the world after their counterparts perished to the point they are not surprised GV's still alive despite his new form. it's both confusing yet also full of complete fanservice towards fans since the first game
My thoughts on the voices: Merak: Sounds pretty much like I expected him to. Surprised they didn't get his voice actor from the OVA. Teseo: Not bad, but I personally think Greg Cipes (Voice of Beast Boy) would've been a perfect fit. Nova: The best of the voices. Sounds every bit like I expected him to sound: refined, eloquent, condescending, and arrogant. Asimov: Apparently the guy who voices the trailers and voiced Asimov in the OVA reprises his role. Sounds okay, but he's a bit hard to take seriously at times.
Teseo said that Dogvolt would make the fanfics wildin, but the real fanfic gold is interaction plotlines with the outerworld Nova and Asimov! That is, if these scenarios are actual contact scenarios and not just a mere projection or construct made by Astral Order.
For Teseo and Merak, its a projection/construct from GV's mind thanks to Astral Order. Where with Nova and Asimov, its hard to explain their reason for existing, but they give GV some important lessons and ensures that Gunvolt is going on the right path, and here's why: Nova - Nova sees the world where both Kirin and GV are from and learns that Sumeragi has become better than how it was thanks to Kirin saving Gunvolt from his fate as a Primal Dragon. He even tells them that they are needed in their world and what awaits them. Asimov - Asimov still sees a future where Adapts are free from their cruel fate and he also sees GV as the Primal Dragon King of prophecy (Which is what happens to GV in the True Ending when he reverts to a baby), furthermore; he sees Kirin as being the one to help guide GV down the right path when they eventually meet again.
@Dominotik Ivan Tulovskiy Well, I feel like they never really explained for Teseo and Merak, here's why, Serpentine wouldn't be able to create an illusion to where a wormhole that pulls Kirin and GV into Cyberspace and fight Teseo and Merak. So I'm just going to chalk it up as narrative.
@@WrathNebula321 Weren't Teseo and Merak made from Serpentine's septima though? the entire level was recreated memories with their personalities basically in tact along with their septimal powers. the others seem to be both from their own possible worlds but at the same time given enough awareness of the main world that they are not surprised about anything where all they can give is introspective thoughts on the course things went since their demise (though Asimov is definitely in a world similar to IX1's past as his dialogue alludes to his actions there and due to still having a flesh and blood body though close to expiring, he's likely near the time he became Demerzel) Gonna be interesting what Inti comes up with whenever they decide to come back to the series as the ending has created an interesting future, could GV grow up once more with an entirely new playstyle? Would he and Kirin reunite in a scene that parallel's GV's ending in GV2? will GV still be the Azure Dragon of the East?
It's a nice execution of the classic "calm and collected individual gets more forceful and desperate" theme. Having the refined airy shtick going on but still able to throw out the perfectly-controlled power growling lines like the SP Skill callouts and the 7:40 *"LUXCALIBUR! GYAH!"* combat line I like in particular
I just noticed that asimov and nova boss takes place at random timeline depending every action in gunvolt 1 1. Nova boss battle takes place after what happened if muse project went suceed ( speculated that nova still alive in that timeline ) 2. Asimov boss battle takes place at luminous avenger ix timeline when he still havent achieve his pure electronical form and when he still younger demerzel ( speculated that asimov will died in that timeline because defeated by copen )
since no one else has mentioned it in the comments section so far, Nova getting access to the Azure Striker Septima is absolutely pure fanservice to those who read the audio dramas (or to the few who actually know japanese enough to listen) as in Justice Rage (the recruitment of Viper to Sumeragi by Nova) there's a backstory for Nova that shows he was one of the Azure Striker test subjects but as his body rejected the septima he was given Psychokinesis to save his life. Neat little backstory that adds a foil element to the first game between GV and Nova that finally is acknowledged in the games indirectly. Nova and Asimov's fights are absolutely pure fanservice and the fact they're FREE not DLC but FREE is mind boggling, Inti did a great job with this game and gave us more than any other game prior
I don't want the approval of the guys who performed human experiments and wanted to mind control all adepts, or kill all regular humans for the sake of an adept only world, respectively

What I really don't like about this plot is that they are making it like Gunvolt was some kinda of bad guy, but the problems that he faced in past game were very white and black, Gunvolt was always in the right
That's only when the bosses are fighting as once they lose they acknowledge and are at peace that GV's future is the real future both that Sumeragi is still keeping their country afloat with a guiding light keeping them relatively honest but also that Adepts will have a future with freedom. if anything those words are to demoralize GV as well as being what they believed as well, both beliefs can exist in their heads but when fighting they think themselves as right but after losing acknowledge the other thoughts they had

As I dont think Mobius are giving them the knowledge that they are alternitve versions of what GV has gone through so they would have no knowledge of future Sumeragi (for Nova) Asimov i get his defeat text because now he was defeated he can just guess the future will be right in GV's hands.

Yosuke's semi-whiny voice would've been perfect for him. Tesao, I was thinking Egoraptor (Arin Hanson for his TH-camr credentials) or Howard Wang, not whoever is voicing him, who just sounds lifeless and cringy at same time. Nova, Chris Nelson should've been Darrin'ed by Johnny Yong Bosch. Lelouch voice just seems right for the guy. Asimov... doesn't sound so bad with Maxwell Powers behind the wheel. Still would've liked to hear Matthew Mercer or Yong Yea though. Overall, a mixed bag after the first stint's performance. Still a shame they didn't go the extra mile.

He was not going to sir down and listen to why his fascist ideals were wrong. You have to fight people like that. Gunvolt moping about how he was so terrible because he killed people actively trying to enslave people, or comit genocide, is dumb. Im all for finding non violent solutions to things, but when your up against tyrants and literal doomsday cultists, thats often not an option.
I agree as well. Also Kirin doesn't really know what she's even talking about. Gunvolt wasn't a bastard he was someone who at those times where rogue adepts and corrupted governments needed to be put down. Things would be alot worse like Asimov's agenda to kill off every non-adept in the world. GV did the right thing if I was in his shoes I would've told Kirin that simple words and cliché talknujutsu won't work for power greedy human beings.
Well, he killed Nova and that immediately led to Asimov trying to wipe out humans and Eden invading the country with the same goal. Turns out Sumeragi is fucking awful but removing them from the equation only made things worse.
@@hngdman As awful as Sumeragi was, Gunvolt did just kill the dude who was in charge of Japan's National Defense, Asimov (in the bad ending/LAiX timeline) and Zonda had no trouble enacting their plans due to the mess Nova's death caused. Though on the other hand Nova acknowledged that he was in the wrong and that if he was in GV's place, he would have done the same and stop himself.
Nova was enacting a plan to control Adepts not as just an army but to keep them in check as unlike in japan where the series takes place the world is in a state of disorder because of Adepts. unethical yet at the same time he doesn't have illogical emotion based reasoning. Nova was in a position that dialogue could happen as he was in charge of Japan's national defense and a very effective one at that, he had the luxury of time and the goal that is not completely at odds with Gunvolt that room for dialogue could have existed. GV2 shows exactly the consequences of Nova's death along with IX1 where radical adept entities invade and take over hurting and in IX1 committing literal genocide on non adept people. GV only is aware of Eden's actions but that was enough to give him regrets on the outcome of his actions
The dumbest thing they could have done, besides the ultra cringe dialogue, is have in depth conversations mid fight with portraits and text boxes taking up a third of the screen. On top of other flavor lines being spoken so they definitely talk over each other. Can't see and can't hear properly. What bozo thought that would be a good thing to put in their game?

Things would be alot worse like Asimov's agenda to kill off every non-adept in the world. GV did the right thing if I was in his shoes I would've told Kirin that simple words and cliché talknujutsu won't work for power greedy human beings.
Well, he killed Nova and that immediately led to Asimov trying to wipe out humans and Eden invading the country with the same goal. Turns out Sumeragi is fucking awful but removing them from the equation only made things worse.
@@hngdman As awful as Sumeragi was, Gunvolt did just kill the dude who was in charge of Japan's National Defense, Asimov (in the bad ending/LAiX timeline) and Zonda had no trouble enacting their plans due to the mess Nova's death caused. Though on the other hand Nova acknowledged that he was in the wrong and that if he was in GV's place, he would have done the same and stop himself.
Nova was enacting a plan to control Adepts not as just an army but to keep them in check as unlike in japan where the series takes place the world is in a state of disorder because of Adepts. unethical yet at the same time he doesn't have illogical emotion based reasoning. Nova was in a position that dialogue could happen as he was in charge of Japan's national defense and a very effective one at that, he had the luxury of time and the goal that is not completely at odds with Gunvolt that room for dialogue could have existed. GV2 shows exactly the consequences of Nova's death along with IX1 where radical adept entities invade and take over hurting and in IX1 committing literal genocide on non adept people. GV only is aware of Eden's actions but that was enough to give him regrets on the outcome of his actions
The dumbest thing they could have done, besides the ultra cringe dialogue, is have in depth conversations mid fight with portraits and text boxes taking up a third of the screen. On top of other flavor lines being spoken so they definitely talk over each other. Can't see and can't hear properly. What bozo thought that would be a good thing to put in their game?
Might wanna go play the iX series since it doesn't have that.

I don't like Nova's English voice tbh. Too campy, lacks a sense of authority and dignity.
Merak is nice, the rest are ok.
Teseo's english voice is annoying and I love it. It fits the guy perfectly. 10/10, top tier performance.
