The filter would just get soaked as supposed to enter one side of the tank and exit the other giving time to condense somewhat, that is a tank that sub to the side so once air is in it the fresh compressed air will run straight through bypassing the tank so moisture would build in the filter blocking it easier ,bad design flaw

Hey There, Good question. In theory it sounds like you could, but the issue is the air needs to be filtrated and the psi that a regular air compressor pumps out wont be enough at depth. Here is a simple way to look at it. See the hose he is using? It is special hose that is designed to carry air for divers. Could you just use air tool hose? Well for one thing air tool hose is designed to carry oil from oilers, or pumps that use oil, as well as some that don't. I don't know if they are different for that reason, but the point is everything you put in a machine is there to deal with a particular conditions - they even make all kinds of different O rings - So to get a machine that outputs to your lungs, yes it is basically the same design, but it is not the same specification. That said, it seems like all those jackasses in Gold Rush, and Bering sea gold, at least at the outset, were using home brewed machines. I just saw an episode where they cooked their diver because of their home rigged heater. That is the current show, 2019.
