    *Note: For the O-Ring to work properly you should not go below the 0.935" on the EC Tuner V2 tenon print. It is suggested that you cut a separate thread narrow relief on the right-hand side of the threads (slightly smaller than minor diameter) if needed instead.
    I recently kicked off my 7 PRCW build. Today, I’m going through all the steps to machine and install an EC Tuner V2!

    I've been a machinist, gunsmith, reloader and shooter for 35+ years. No matter how many times i watch or do it myself, i still enjoy watching someone who knows what they're doing behind a lathe. Keep up the machining, shooting and loading videos. Your channel is one of my favorites.

      Nobody is born a natural machinist, so unless you’ve helped develop other machinists - your 35+ years of machining experience is just a disappointment.

    I've been waiting for a video like this for years showing more lathe work in real time, not voice over clips. I wish you'd do more like this and show a complete chambering job in real time no matter how long the video is. Zoom in on the tool bit some too.
    Show real time everything! Great video!

    Love what you do. At first I was wondering why you were verbalizing every step, but I get it. I can only make one recommendation: Not to wear a wristwatch when that left hand is in such close proximity to that chuck spinning at those speeds. Better safe than sorry. I know my pop never wore a watch or any rings or snything that could pull him into a cutter or spinning workpiece EVER. He was a top flight machinist, one of the elite guys. Security clearance, models made for wind tunnel experiments; finishes called out in light bars. Rifle safety and machinery safety were just part of his DNA. No joke.

      The TBAS system calls for 35 ft-lb - it’s actually important so that things don’t move and so that you don’t over torque the components.

    Ive had one for a yr now and found that group size does change, but not actually repeatable from day to day. Got that 1/4" group at 100 yds? Keep everything the same and try again next week. Bet you it isnt still that small. Does it affect groups? Yes, but all the other variables in the equation keep changing so youll need to tweak the setting constantly.
    Probably works best with premium ammo in a premium barrel if you want any sort of repeatability.

      It directly influences barrel harmonics, which yes, does directly influence groups on paper! I have some videos covering this.

      @@Ultimatereloader which ones and do they go in depth, I'm actually curious of the physics, is it like when I put my break on my rifle and it just dampens vibration or is it more on the timing side of things, similar to seating depth changes affecting when the bullet leaves the barrel, making opertune timing to leave when the barrel is in the straightest position of the ossolasion.

    • @Fourty5
      @Fourty5 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Pure speculation, but I believe it is because the 7 PRCW(6.5PRC necked up) is able to be used in short actions, where the regular 7 PRC is long action. Hopefully he will chime in for a more accurate answer.

    What's your estimate of the minimum costs of machinery and tools needed to build a rifle, not talking about setting up a business, just enough to be self sufficient?

    • @edwinlongwell
      @edwinlongwell 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends if you want to include a lathe or not. With a lathe $10-15k for a used lathe and tooling. Gavin’s TL1660 retails for $17k(not including true bore or other tooling). No lathe, probably $1k depending on what exactly you want to do and what tools you already have.

    Be careful about putting your mic on the top of your machine. It can heat up and cause your reading to be off. My dad was a precision machinist and he also found that dykem was to thick and he used a sharpie for his precision grinding.
