Not only an AC detector, it will react to any interference. The counter is of no use as it's never reset, any MOS gate would give the same result. Decades ago, leaving opened a MOS input drove to its destruction, inputs weren't protected as they're today. You can't rely on this fixture to detect mains. Another point is that alternative current isn't more dangereous for the same voltage, a contrario, because you can feel it, which isn't the case of continuous current. Continuous current makes an electrolisys of blood and produces bubbles in the veins driving to an emboly.

He has used EMI to induce current through unshielded wires but ... The tester may not work across a highly shielded wire or across a magnetostatic shielder
These no-contact detectors never work through shielding. No matter what the design. That is why competent electricians will always use a Safe Isolation Procedure.
But a detector like this is an invaluable tool for almost anyone to have handy.

Good hein but chize wo ho jo dur se connect kare ,deewar ke par b,jese gore banate hein detecter,kyu ki deewar ke andar jo wire hoti hn unka current check kare ki ya break kaha par hein or LED ki jagah beep ki voice ho so better

not necessary, it works as suppose to, the problem is because it is too sensible, so everything with a charge energy will make it light.

How long the battery will work without switch ?
He forgot to include a push button. The life of battery depends of the battery you are using, more capacity-more time. This circuit have about 10 mA over 5 Volts this means about 50 mW

1/4 watt resister is enough. Switch may be fitted at the back end to increase the battery life.

It 's fake! I did and at me too when connected to the power supply element, as well as at the author of the roller, the LED immediately lights up. As soon as you touch your hands - it quenches the Little Finger Pressure - the diode quenches, slightly eased the pressure - the diode burns - Cool!
