Thanks Mark, that brings the self-esteem up a little 😂 It was one of those little instant slips but it did bring the Mrs a barrel of laughs when she saw it, so it wasn't all bad.
Thanks NBN, It was a great day to explore the hill plus the light and ice did give the whole area a certain atmosphere. Thanks for watching and commenting, and again, I'm glad you enjoyed this. Take care and I hope to see you on my next outing (it didn't go this well... spoiler)
Cheers mate, it was a bit of a time. It is a great wee hill and always nice to find out a snippet of history if it's there. Whet the whistle before jumping down the history rabbit hole. Hope you're well.
That was a hard year for you last year sorry for all your loss. Great video you tell the story really well. I am glad you never hurt yourself on the the fall. ATB Gus
Thanks Gus, it was a tough one but getting on and getting by. Glad you liked my story telling and hopefully didn't bore you if you knew the history already 😂 The fall was my own fault. I had my wee YakTrax and knew I should have had them on with the compacted grass, mud and ice but chose not to put them on. Luckily it wasn't near the rocky parts or it could have been a considerable slip. Just a bruising of the ego and a laugh for everyone else 🤷🏻♂️ As always, thanks for watching, commenting and take care out there.
Thanks Oot n Aboot, it definitely is a cracking wee spot and all the more steeper with ice. I've had another wee bout with ice in an upcoming outing so keep your eyes peeled.
Hi Alistair, glad you got something from this one. When I was approaching it I saw how much it stood out and no wonder it was used as a meeting / navigational place all those years ago. It stands out for miles around. Just a wee hill, a quick up and down if you wanted it to be, but worth a wander around. I hope you're well and I look forward to seeing your outings in 2022.
Hi there, just found your Chanel via the trip with Robin. Sorry for your losses recently. Thank you for the spot on history lesson . Look forward to more. Stay safe 👍🏔
Cheers Dave, I appreciate that. Yeah, there's a few have found me from his vlog so I have to thank him for that. I'm glad you like the history, I try to get wee interesting parts in wherever I find them and where I can. Thanks for watching and I hope you stick around for some more vlogs 👍🏼
Brilliant vlog buddy just caught up with your channel... Loved this first video great history and very informative...looking forward to catching up with the rest 👍🏻
Hey Andrew, I'm glad you liked it and Loudoun Hill is a great spot, I really need to do more visits to historical places that excite me. I hope you like the rest of the channel and suggestions for places to visit are always welcome. 👍🏼
@@AScotsmanOutdoors looking forward to catching up with the rest of the channel buddy love all the Historical stuff... Subscribed to two great channels last night... Your own and Outlawed Landscapes 😊👍🏻
Thanks Hike Bike Scotland, I like visiting places with a story and as I said, it's the feeling you get actually being there that brings the places to life... for me at least. The wee silly things like knowing that these big characters from history might have actually sat or walked where you are right at that moment. I'm not sure if you've ever visited Loudoun Hill but if not it's a great wee place to spend an hour or two. It would be great for a lunch spot in the better weather. Thanks again for watching and commenting and hopefully you get to visit this place. Take care for now...
Hey Bryan, I’m so sorry to hear of your sad news. Good man for showing others it’s okay to talk about the grief of losing people in our lives we love dearly. Great video as always pal, and belated happy new year to you. Best Regards, Douglas.
Hey Douglas, thank you. Talking is one hundred percent an option, for some people at least, and I know it works for me. There is a "macho" view around sharing your thoughts but thankfully I think that's slowly changing. I'm glad you liked the video and if you've not been there then give it a wee check out. It'll be a nice spot in the summer for a few hours walking. Again, thanks for watching and I'll hopefully catch you on the next one.
@@AScotsmanOutdoors yeah the old toxic masculinity gets us guys nowhere fast for sure Bryan. Have had a burstitis on my heel for well over a year and can’t see anyone about it due to covid, so can’t even get a walking boot on and even if I did, I couldn’t get far without danger of mortal agony lol. I shall return however at some point. Take care Bro. Douglas. 😁🙌🏼
Absolutely fantastic area! Love all the history as well. Hope you were okay after the tumble, as it usually isn't until I get home or the next day that I really start to feel it! Sorry to hear about all the lose...I know how I felt after many in a short period of time myself. Hang in there and take good care of yourself. Bruce and Otis
Hi Bruce and Otis, firstly, thanks for watching and commenting. Oh, I was fine after the slip. Only a pride bruising from that one but shows it can happen anytime. I'm sorry to hear of your losses too. It was so much in one short period and for no rhyme or reason really. Some days I still don't think it's real. Again, I'm glad that you liked it and hope the wee history insight was interesting for you. There's just so much of it here. Until next time, take care and look after yourself too.
Hi Alex, thanks for taking the time to check out my wee channel and thanks for subscribing. I'm a bit guilty of finding out if there is anything interesting about an area before I visit and love the history that I sometimes stumble across. I don't know if you've saw my other few videos with a history theme in them (Portencross and Greenan Castle). I've still got a few more wee stories I've found interesting to try and share so hopefully I'll have them out soon. Again, thanks for checking out my wee channel and welcome aboard, - Bryan -
@@AScotsmanOutdoors No bother at all mate. Watched your Greenan castle one, and a few others, really interesting. There’s so much history in them there hills
Ah yeah, Greenan castle is a brilliant one. I think how it's perched right on the edge makes it look the part for sure. Again, thanks for watching and I hope to have more history vlogs up soon.
I'll definitely look into that now. I've found a few that are close to the edge (so to speak) and will no doubt get out to them. Do you know any wee snippets about Tantallon?
Everybody slips at that bit going down & I mean literally everybody even in the summer! Great wee video👍

Wonderful. Really enjoyed that
I knew the history but you set the scenes so well and the whole dim was really atmospheric.
