Tim weah is the real MVP, he did what he knew he had to do for the team moving forward an I can assure you his move in copa america was a team decision, had to be done! Now we can move forward no excuses.

I don't think that you actually believe Tim did that on purpose knowing it would make Berhalter look bad enough to finally get let go of, but in case you do... that's pretty absurd. Regardless, thanks to Tim anyway. His crap emotional response had everything to do with him being a pussy. He'll grow, though.

I don’t know why some usmnt fans aren’t happy about this. This is BEYOND our expectations! Gregg’s departure alone was already a blessing. Going from Gregg to Poch is a day and night difference. Were Yall really expecting klopp or pep? 😂 This signing is huge, especially for usmnt standards. Anyone who’s disappointed or says he sucks, you have no ball knowledge. Like tac said, it’s not guaranteed success but will likely be a huge improvement in the way USA will play.

Exactly lol. Some fans had way too high expectations thinking we were capable of landing a guy like pep.

    • @ninjalectualx

@ben I disagree, Pep has said he's interested in the differences between club and international soccer, which suggests to me that he would eagerly adapt his system to something he could implement in the few windows he would have. I also think he's hinted that he was interested in the US job, but the timing with his City contract didn't work out

  • @michealdeangelo7452

Even if Poch underachieves, the fact alone that the USSF made this move alone makes this a win.

I cant wait until we see the difference in combination of play. Lets see how the formations change and lineups change. I think we will finally see some urgency on our guys. Its no longer camps where our top 10 guys can come in and expect to start but then again its not like we got depth after the first 12-15 guys so it depends. I think specifically Johnny will benefit out of this change. If Adams cant stay healthy and cant get a run of matches he is not starting simple as that.

It's not the absolute best in a hypothetical which is where I knock him.
    What he brings?
tactical flexbility, depth, and has shown success across multiple levels.
this is also a hire that will get the fan-base hyped up and talking about USMNT in a positive way, we've had 4 years of straight negativity, and now we are so back.

A step in the right direction by the US Soccer Federation. First time I see these people taking futbol seriously. I'm one of those who question Poch's title achievements but being from Argentina myself I have to admit he's got skills to manage groups applying some Bielsa football school rudiments. USMNT seems like a decent challenge for him. He doesn't need to win the next WC, but making quarter finals will be good enough to believe he can make a mark in a sport that needs badly some kind of validation especially at international level

Sure Poch doesn’t have the international experience, but he’s proven he can go very deep in tournament competition with teams like Tottenham. His time at PSG and Chelsea wasn’t great, but honestly i think that’s a different skill set than what is required of the US job. He’s proven to be able to make lesser squads better than the sum of their parts, particularly in his early career, and I think that’s exactly what we need in a hire. 10/10

I think his best skill is his ability to improve his players without having the money to go out and buy a huge roster, as he had with done with Spurs. And I *HATE* Spurs. But he was honestly fantastic there. And yeah, obviously you cannot buy players in the international game, obviously, but that isn't the point. The point is look at what he did with his limited roster (compared to the heavy hitters in the EPL) and look at how he has made them one of the most competitive teams. He took over a Spurs team that was in 6th place and in each of his years he finished in 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. After one year of leadership he took them to four straight years of champions league finishes, and one final. He is a *FANTASTIC* signing!
And for those crying about him getting sacked at Chelsea after 1 year. 26 wins, 11 draws, 14 losses. Finished 6th place last year compared to 12th place the previous year. And have you looked at their roster? 🤨 Yeah, he improved that team a huge amount.

I grew up in the 70's when we played soccer on farm fields. We loved the game no matter how hard we were bullied and teased from our peers, but we kept playing because it is such a beautiful game. He likes to play out from the back, but expect him to adapt and work with what he’s got. Like you said you need a keeper who can play on the floor and also defenders who are comfortable receiving it in tight situations which you clearly don’t have. In fact your defence as a whole is the area that needs the most work. He really needs to make the team a lot tougher to break down and I expect him to play more counter attacking football. Poch is definitely a huge improvement on before and US fans on the whole should feel more positive about 2026. I think you’ve now got a good chance of reaching the last 32, maybe 16 if the draw is favourable.

Hiring -- 10/10. Who knows if his schemes translate over to the national club side? No one. But I think that this is a clear message to the players and the fan base that the USSF is taking WC26 seriously. Play time over at Gregg's house is over. Your spot isn't guaranteed and you need to get to work. The USSF has stepped well outside the federation's comfort zone to hire who they believe to be the best candidate. It's ambitious. It's bold. They aren't playing it safe with a company man. Semifinal appearance or grouped out, we will know that (at least in this regard) that the USSF went down swinging. I like it.

Please explain the deeper elements and implications of his coaching journey and what type of effect this will have on how the USMNT will play. And will the U.S. have a more Argentinian style or a more European style of play? @@Ronaldoluiznazario winning trophies isn't the only definition of success. If you elevate your team to a level they haven't been at for decades, or to compete with teams with far greater resources that's success. The US isnt likely to win the WC no matter who the manager is but getting further than they've got before or beating a top 5 side would be a success.
