Pro tip change to a big heavy hitting weapon before transforming, sure its not broken and melts bosses in 2 seconds however if you slot high attack rating soul cores into your spirit. And that way your shift will be much stronger, if you use a fast hitting weapon that does lower damage per hit then your shift form will do less damage aswell. Try have a big heavy weapon in your hands and then shift, it does not suck ass nor is broken if you use a big weapon and if you slot high attack rating soul cores into your spirit it will be way better. Try it for yourself.
I discovered something today which is quite nice, the rage ability from the Axe stays and greatly increases your damage while in yokai form. As feral my damage increased by about 140% or so. So the damage buffs people use to make their builds better greatly applifi yokai shift damage.
I believe the core feature of his build got nerfed in the last patch. Patch 1.08 included a correction claiming that Skill and Unarmed Damage Bonuses were being incorrectly applied to Yokai Skills. I think his build concept probably still works but to nowhere near the same effectiveness following the patch. A few people who made videos on the patch came out to call unarmed builds "dead" after the patch.

I think it is coming from the Crime of Patricide 2 Piece Bonus. It gives Extended Yokai Shift +10 but I've never personally parsed how this effect works.

I used 1 shot builds on Nioh 1 all thru dlc and all difficulties and even all thru abyss 999 and it honestly ruined it for me. Nioh 2 I plan to stay true to keeping it challenging.

One thing I'm not getting about Nioh 2. How do I make my living weapon last longer?
Use attacks that create amrita around enemies (yokai abilities are pretty good for that), then absorb the amrita via a charge attack, R1 or naturally.
What are the buff effects he is using? And how did he get the extended Yokai form for 4 minutes critical?

I will say that they just nerfed the Unarmed interaction in patch 1.08 though.
