I thought I was by myself in my reaction. I've never been so proud to see Black Excellence displayed to the world like JSU Band did. So proud of them!!!!! Couldn't help the proud tears.
As someone who isn't an HBCU Alum but have watched many Rosebowls Parades, JSU Sonic Boom, literally reset the spice bar for all other HBCU Colleges in this parade going forward. They came, understood the assignment, ate and left zero crumbs. They even had the Professional Entertainers celebrating them. That's how you show up!!!!❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥
I literally went to the rose Parade just to see the JSU Sonic Boom of the South Marching Band. It was a bucket list moment for me. They blew every other band out of the water that morning. It was Powerful and inspiring.
What's amazing is hearing The Sonic Boom and The Human Jukebox playing at the same time in the stadium at Jackson State. I'm so glad JSU Marched in the Rose Bowl Parade. Southern University got marched in 2020. JSU is more than deserving of this honor. I love being part of the HBCU Family.
Jackson State does not play😂 I live in Mississippi near the university.. sonic boom 💥 they are loved .. phenomenal band. I love to hear them compete and them trumpets sound off 🙀😊omg

Drum majors did the dang thang. I'm sure they have never seen such brilliance. J-Settes looked phenomenal as usual. I love those uniforms, classic beauty. Great songlist as well and the band sounded great
We were at the 210 underpass and the energy was magic! Very inspiring for the all the high schools bands there that day. I feel honored to have been able to see this band. Thank you!
This was absolutely incredible. Holding Out For A Hero had me in tears. Great job....y'all didn't just seize the moment, you took the moment to the stratosphere!
As a Florida A&M alum, I have to say this is one of the best showcases of an HBCU band I have ever seen in my life. The song list went CRAZY! But HERO!?!? It just doesn’t get any better than that! J5 and J-Settes cut up at high energy the entire route! The unison of the band and the plumes on the hats was next level! And the sound…TOP TIER. Also, shout out to the banner girls as well! They lead the way with BEAUTY. I love all bands and styles, but I will say, nobody check off all the boxes like SBOTS! Congratulations on a brilliant performance young ladies and gentlemen!

I’m a Florida Girl and have been following JSU for years and to see them on TV in Rose Bowl Parade made me proud! They did the dang gone thing! I too am in tears watching them hear on their channel. Job well done!
Didn’t attend JSU but my inner band geek and Drum Corps heart was completely filled as I cheered at my tv watching SBOTS set the standard while representing! Super proud of yall for a job very well done!!! 10/10 🔟💐🔟💐🔟
@jiljwc Glad to see someone who represents both Show Bands and Drum Corps. Sometimes people try to pit them against each other. Totally different styles, both are great, why can't people love and enjoy both? My son is prepping for his 4th year in drum corps in 2025. This will be his third year with the Mandarins (Tuba). His first year in 2022 was in Open Class with Gold.
I’ve been in LA for 10 years…….but went to NC A&T and loved the band life. I’m always proud to see an HBCU on the west coast performing bringing some flavor. It takes me back. The high steps, the energy.

I'm more of a dancer but that drumcorp when the music stops is just perfection! I love seeing us show out on the west coast! HBCU are not over here, so its a brand new experience for a lot of people. Those J-Settes and those high left kicks! 🔥

Watched the Rose Parade in person for the first time, and JSU Sonic Boom and the Kyoto Tachibana were my two fav bands. I've been on TH-cam watching both bands. Love the marching style of the SB and the swagger of the drum majors.
I was in my HS band and we got our style from JSU, Pine Bluff, TSU, etc. I didnt go to an HBCU and when I watch JSU, I regret not going. They are definitely on my bucket list of bands to see!!

Should be renamed Tournament of Roses for Sonic Boom! JSU stole the show!! Watched them at Band Fest and couldn’t hold back tears from being so moved. To consider all the hard work and passion of every single person. They’re on a whole other league of marching bands. No one can match!

I was in my HS band and we got our style from JSU, Pine Bluff, TSU, etc. I didnt go to an HBCU and when I watch JSU, I regret not going. They are definitely on my bucket list of bands to see!!
