So agree with you about your summary of European destinations. We went to Santorini last year and thought it was fine but no better, and Athens completely meh, but Brighton is perfect, we got married there 12 years ago !

Brighton is weird. Great eateries and pubs, pier and beach, locals are ex London luvvies or psychos. The Palace has a secret passage so that ‘guests’ could discretely arrive and depart. Btw, easy bat is our national carrier.
We didn’t like Athens either. The people who were selling things were so aggressive and in our face it was uncomfortable. It was dirty and there was ugly tagging( not graffiti) everywhere. We were on a cruise and that was the only time we went back to the ship really early, we were so glad to leave. What were your reasons for disliking it?
