You just don't know how much I appreciate your explanation, Appelusa! I spent the entire month trying to find out why my balance keeps getting off upon one foot turning both sides with some misses & some hits with no consistency. However, those times ain't getting wasted because as soon as I saw how you break down these moves into simple/manageable drills, it's all clicked, Appelusa. Thanks a lot for making these videos. Deeply appreciate it!
Awesome !! I just re enrolled in school and its kicking my ass! Waiting fir things to find their rhythm so I have time to edit tons of content for you guys! Stay tuned for sure 😁
You have without a doubt the best content. I always like your how to videos, the way that you explain, the way that you show it all is just so good. How you don't have 10's of thousands of subscribers I don't know. I might try this as I am working on my turns (before reverse crossovers which I just can't get yet), well to my uncomfortable side so maybe this might be easier or smoother. Many thanks, I appreciate your effort in making videos, I know that it can be time consuming.
Thank you Lloyd! I truly appreciate you taking the time to write this message. It honestly is what keeps me going and producing content. I was born into skating and born from skaters and coaches so I think it’s just second nature for me. I love being able to pass on what I know and what works from bare bones basics and from an alignment point of view. I’ll have to work on the subscriber thing haha I’m a newbie !
Thanks for a great video. I've looked for other videos on 3 turns and other things and the others didn't mention turning the hips and shoulders first. That tiny bit of information made a difference for me even though it maybe should have been obvious.
Imma doing the snoopy dance!!! Thank you for this video !!!! I get it. I like the idea of a chair helping too. Its that confidence that your balance is correct so you don't fall during the execution of the turning around. Why is this so paramount for me? I like the part where you said "after you do this 100 times...." ok that's doable and more comprehensive that it takes much practice and should not put such high expectation or feel like its insurmountable to get this transition. I so appreciate the way you teach.
Thank you for the feedback, it’s so helpful to know how everyone experiences these tutorials and how it’s working with their skate journey :) I’m stoked for you to practice this!!
@@appelusa I read below on one of the post you mentioned about your dads rink having to close? That is very sad. What state is that in? After COVID will you be teaching classes in person anywhere?
I think you are amazing teacher, so relaxing when you explain ! Ithink i might have been trying to do my backwards to forwards on outside wheel instead of the inside wheel as a pivot. OMG. Of course that doesn't work. You explained this so well. I will certainly save this video and give it another try. Temted to try this at home in my study as well. I have been struggling so hard with my travelings over the last year, I wonder if that is because I am always just pushing on wrong wheel. Thanks so much. I might tag you on my instagram the next time I try.
I appreciate this so much! Yes pressing on the wrong wheel will hinder you from turning smoothly or at all! You gotta know where to press depending on foot and direction for sure :) yes tag me!
Your Content is so good. You deserve way more subscribers!! Quick question. How high should I adjust my Toestops for Artistic skating? Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us
Alex yes this home is undeniably beautiful, but it’s not mine. I am a guest and have been fortunate enough to live temporarily on Kauai throughout the pandemic 🙏🏻 I will be back to my humble apartment soon enough, but the content will continue ! I was planning on shooting at my Dads skating rink, but that unfortunately is closing due to Covid and having to be closed for over 8 months.
After reading the description carefully, I am curious about the plate and the wheels.... For reference, I've been on roller skates for 6 years~ Looking for outdoor wheels...
I have Edea Rolline Variant Plate and Golden Horse Vanguard plate. OD wheels I have Sure Grip Aerobics for rougher surfaces and Sure Grip Fame 98a for smoother surface (less grippy).
With the first turn you indicated with the foot you are standing to put pressure on your big toe. Then the turn at 6:40 being an inside turn you indicated to put pressure on your pinky toe. It seems it should be the reverse. I am learning the turn at 6:40 and it seems the pressure should be on the big toe since I would turning toward it. Is my thinking correct?
Hi! The turn at 6:30 is an outside edge turn actually. It’s a “right (foot) outer (edge) front to back turn. In figure skating there are pivot wheels dependent on the direction (front to back or back to front) and edge (outside or inside). This turn def not press on big toe. It’s one of the hardest One foot turns! So make sure just to practice standing still to get the feel of it.
@@appelusa . I was asked by a very famous actor who could teach his daughters basic roller skating but he wants no jumps for them nor focus on competitions. If he asks me again can I tell him to contact you in you tube? He is an acquaintance a bit older than me. I am 49 and not famous like most people 🙂. He is a bit older. In what rink do you train in Los Angeles? Do you use masks if parents request them??😷
you're a really good teacher
Much appreciated!!!
Definitely a very good teacher!
I want to master these one day. 😍 Thanks for explaining it so well, I'll start practising it tomorrow.
Best teacher ever thank you 👍
Thanks, that really helped when you mentioned what to do with your arms (use them as a guide for the amount of twist).
Awesome 😃glad it helped
Just reached the level to use this technique! Thank you for the little details that make it work.

Mahalo thanks for rolling with me!
I love these moves! PS can the funky move #1 be done at speed? I worry I won't get the transition all the way and will catch an edge.
I think I’m the end you make it whatever works for you- your own style your own speed :)

@@savingtogether4804 ok cool ! 😊 I Know it’s confusing when you are first learning all the types of turns 🙄
What are all the basic levels of artistic roller skating? Do you teach in Los Angeles or in which city?
I’m now in Kauai and sometimes LA. Go to USA Roller Sports or Rollerskating.org for more info on tests and levels :)
@@appelusa. Thanks. Do you give virtual lessons via web cam?? Just wondering. 🤔
@@arf2847 I do actually! Here’s my email if you want to message me I can give more info maybe schedule a call to discuss 😊
