Split personality: Hater/Lover (recognizing BattlBox for what it is) Why Lovers would love it: 5-star rating Assuming I am new to survival preparation and this was the first subscription box received from BattlBox, I would have to say it is a really great box. Yes, there are a few gimmicky items, but there are also some pretty decent starter items. 1) Starter EDC (easy to carry and high functionality): BattlTac DUT, OLight, and maybe the folder knives. 2) BOB: Personally, I would not carry a sharpener as large as the “Speedy Sharp”, but it would be an excellent item for a starter BOB or car carry. My expectation for EDC is to make sure my knife is sharp when I leave for the day and that I would not need to sharpen my knife during the day. I suggest that if you are using a knife that much that it requires sharpening in a single day, perhaps it is time for you to purchase a better knife that holds an edge longer. 3) Gimmicky (low priority for EDC): “Lighterbro Classic Black” and key chains, Exotac EDC roll (this might be better for car carry). And yes, some of the themes are out on the fringe, but the box contents are relevant to the topic (just not everyone's cup of tea). Why haters would hate it: 1-star rating I started subscribing from Mission 20 (I also received the Mission 13 starter kit). Having collected 23 subscriptions, there are obviously duplicate functions (a bunch of folding and fixed blade knives) that are in the current Mission 43 box. Also, I have purchased survival gear on my own (I purchase high quality gear) that are also duplicated in Mission 43. Additionally, over the past 2 years, I have significantly improved my skillset and no longer need specialized/gimmicky equipment to perform specific tasks. 1) Due to being a subscriber for 2 years, I already have a beginner EDC kit; consequently, I have little need for any of the equipment in Mission 43. In fact, my EDC kit is tailored for my own personal requirements. 2) Regarding knives, I personally carry the Mission 21 “Boker Plus Tech-Tool” because of its functionality (knife, plier, scissor, glass breaker, very small saw, awl, screw drivers and cork screw). While it is rather heavy, its functionality has proven to be invaluable. BTW, I like the Mission 38 “SOG Baton Q3 Multi Tool”, but it is a bit uncomfortable carrying it in my front pants pocket (I do not like displaying it when carried on my belt). The knives in the Mission 43 box do not have a lot of utilitarian value. BattlBox isn’t for world class survival guys like Dave Canterbury, Matt Graham, Cody Lundin, etc. They have highly developed skills and with their knowledge, select equipment for conditions they are headed into. BattlBox appears to be serving those that are relatively new to survival/outdoors as well as bringing new product to your attention. As these individuals improve their skills and acquire equipment, I suspect they will out-grow what BattlBox delivers. Just because a person out-grows BattlBox and no longer finds value in the subscription boxes, doesn’t make them a “hater”, just someone who is disappointed in no longer receiving value for their money.

Love every single one of the items and even that three of the products will be excellent presents... for my Family and Friends. If you have not tried one of their Mission Boxes you are definitely missing out!!!
Just got mine and am very happy with it. Looking forward to the next ones. Really hope some of the old missions get a revamp since i started recently. This was EDC 3. Lets see a self reliance, self defense, or bushcraft 2.0! Love the content. Keep up the great work guys!
I was initially unimpressed with "LighterBro Classic", but upon receiving Mission 43 box I found that by placing the BIC lighter upside down I am able to prevent accidentally pushing the lever and releasing fuel (put the lever opposite the mini key ring). Of course, this configuration is NOT for daily use but is for my backup BIC lighter where I get the additional benefit of simple (but possibly invaluable) tools. I have since gone from "unimpressed" to "much happier" and have tossed it into my car carry bag.
This is one of the only boxes I've got this year thats actully worth more than I pay. The Olight and 2 blades are worth almost $200, and yes, those were amazon and cheaper prices I found.
I canceled my subscription months ago and have followed to see where things have been going. I must say, this is a nice box. The two blades and the o'light make up for the multiple key chains.
Well, I called it and stated that you were gonna screw up EDC by filling it with mostly garbage. And I am canceling my subscription as promised. They won't be seeing my money ever again. So disappointing. They have gone the same way as every other sub box and now just use filler crap. Feel free to disagree but just like BattlBox ignores their customer base, ill ignore your comments ;)
So what is it you don't like and think is just filler? What would you have taken out and replaced with something else? If you want to criticize at least say what you would do differently.

Now I have voiced my opinions about the content or gripe about particular items or boxes in general and I have asked, like others have for BattlBox to listen to their subscribers not just me. But they still fail to interact unless someone says something positive. I don't need to point out the issues in this box, otbers have already done that so I will not continue to plead with them and be ignored. So I posted the above and will cancel my sub as I stated I would. I no longer need to try and justify my concerns because they don't listen to me or others.
I agree Micheal Williams. Several of these items I may already have but what I love about this subscription is being able to create gifts for my family and close friends that will help them be better prepared. For example I’m creating get home bags for my children. The value you can’t beat and you should take advantage of Flash Friday sale perfect example is 40% off Mission 31 and other selected missions (7-9 September), the Timahawk Tactical Tomahawk cost more then the $99 (including s&h) for discounts received on this sale. You may not be buying like but don’t complain without giving recommendations.
I keep looking for a reason the come back but the boxes are just horrible. Battlbox has gotten away from its core strengths. The number one reason great companies fail is that they get away from what made them great. Offering crap in a box is going away from your core values. Frankly, I wouldn’t use any of this stuff. Stop, with the crap filler items even if it means offering one quality item per subscription level. Stop with the micro knives, the gimmicks like the key chains and the plain useless stuff like the pocket pry bar and bottle opener. I used to watch the videos because they were entertaining and Currin would give his honest opinions but now that his fortunes are tied to the company it has gotten boring. Now comments like “nice packaging” come across when before that trash would have been in the bin. The trash the company is offering is dragging the honest reputation of the man down. Just my opinion. I’ll keep watching to see if you offer any real interesting items or boxes but I’m 99% sure I’ll never subscribe again.
This box is pretty decent. I couldn't tell you how many boxes I have broken down and dulled a blade from tape and other bs. The exact o knife box/envelope cutter is going to get some use. Beauty is you can get new blades about anywhere. The folder knives are pretty cool as well. I am a fixed blade guy at heart but would carry those on a night out on the town. I can see 1 key chain in the box but two is overkill. O Light makes awesome flashlights pretty excited about that item. The edc roll is going in my car for a emergency kit. You could put some of the medical kit items from previous bb boxes in that thing and have an awesome field kit. Haters have no imagination. I too cancelled my subscription but re subbed this month, this box has its uses.
same here, I canceled after the tracking box but resubbed because of the leaks for this box and the free olight keychain offer. I might cancel again though, I need to see more consecutive good boxes
The box is ok the only thing I would have changed or added and what I was looking forward too in an edc box was a tactical like pen of some kind other then that like the box good work battlbox
I really like this months box. Most everything was great quality and no little kids stuff/knick knacks/decor items this month....thank god. I posted last month that after 3 dud months in a row (in my opinion), I was out if this months tanked. Happily it is great and I will use it all! The knives look well suited for “gentleman’s” steak knives, or eating on the go like Andrew Zimmern uses all the time. WAY TO GO BATTLBOX!

I am tired of the haters complaining about everything. This month's Battlbox is a very good box. If you have $150 to spend on a subscription box, you should already have all of the things you need. Now is your chance to get some things maybe you wouldn't know about or you might overlook. If you don't particularly care for something, be generous with your friends and family and share the love. But I can guarantee that you probably won't be able to get all of the same things you can get in a Battlbox for better combined price somewhere else.
if people were posting CONSTRUCTIVE criticism people wouldn't be as annoyed. However, when someone just says "This sucks" or "Money wasted" that isn't helping. If you don't like something fine, but say what you don't like and what you would have done differently.
In all fairness there have been hundreds if not thousands of constructive commwnts about the companies choices and what they would like to see or what was disapointing about the box or items in them. The problem is that BattlBox has completely ignored all of those and customers who tried and hoped for improvements are fed up and now just annoyed. They think there is zero reason to completely vent because it God unoticed by BattlBox. So yes now folks are just saying,this blows and canceling subscription. They are entitled to do so and for good reason. Now for those who claim its a great box or great bang for buck or I coukd use that attitude, great. But the majority of their subscribers aren't happy and have voiced so for a while and still no changes. So call them haters if you want but if say they are frustrated consumers who feel jipped on what they have become.

Battlbox your Awesome! I really hate the haters and I believe nothing will satisfy them. I have subscribed to several other boxes and say that Battlbox is the best. I know that everything that is included can not satisfy everybody. But we all need to remember we signed up for unknown theme and box items. You can always wait to see if you want the box and buy it at a higher price or buy individual items on Battlbox site or even go to Amazon type in Battlbox and see what is being offered. I still follow and see what battlbox has to offer and since I quite my subscription awhile ago I feel that battlbox is still good with great ideas at times but what you get just isn’t for me. It may be great for some people but really how many fire starters and knives do you need? I’ve been disappointed ever since the hygiene box last year and have only seen one or two boxes worth having since then. However I do like the hammock I seen in one of your boxes and that is useful! Just can’t find it on your store. I guess it’s like any subscription box, seems like complacency sets in with the company with what you get and bland dinners that you can only eat so much of. Kinda like my shitty hotel breakfast right now.
i'll just say one thing : #hashtag no more bottleopeners, I mean really guys we've got hundreds of items that have bottle openers, just how many bottles are gonna find out in the boonies that aint been opened?

They need to step up their boxes! This whole year has been a rare hit and mostly miss. Like the CRKT Crossbones can be picked up for a little over $50. Last EDC box was mind blowing, this one is quite forgetful.
James. We tend to disagree. Did you get this box? Have you used these knives or tools? Everyone that has used them has loved them and for the price if admission this is still a great box for a great deal. We aren't going anywhere and our customers remain happy. 2019 is gonna be Yuuuuuugeee! Fantastic. Great things.
If you are wanting us to compare prices to amazon...the prices on Amazon are below MAP and violations of the policies CRKT has for all other vendors who cannot advertise below $69.99. If you expect us to compete with Amazon, then that's ludicrous. Also, it's a package deal with another CRKT product , bring the value closer to about $70, including Amazon, of which the customer still paid an upgrade of FIFTY, which is STILL a win.

yep i stopped my subscription 2 years ago. I still watch the videos occasionally, but I always say I am glad I stopped that Chinese useless crap.

I like this box it has 4 blades in it dont really care for the key ring but the rest is great stuff quality box this month
I think with the front flipper I would use my index finger to open, def great knife and great box!

They need to step up their boxes! This whole year has been a rare hit and mostly miss. Like the CRKT Crossbones can be picked up for a little over $50. Last EDC box was mind blowing, this one is quite forgetful.
James. We tend to disagree. Did you get this box? Have you used these knives or tools? Everyone that has used them has loved them and for the price if admission this is still a great box for a great deal. We aren't going anywhere and our customers remain happy. 2019 is gonna be Yuuuuuugeee! Fantastic. Great things.

If you are wanting us to compare prices to amazon...the prices on Amazon are below MAP and violations of the policies CRKT has for all other vendors who cannot advertise below $69.99. If you expect us to compete with Amazon, then that's ludicrous. Also, it's a package deal with another CRKT product , bring the value closer to about $70, including Amazon, of which the customer still paid an upgrade of FIFTY, which is STILL a win.
