I have lived in Maine my entire life. Every tourist that visits wants to visit Acadia National Park and the surrounding area on Mount Dessert Island. You definitely should. It’s very beautiful, but you shouldn’t limit your trip to only MDI. I strongly recommend visiting Baxter State Park. It’s in land so you won’t see any ocean views, but you will find beautiful lakes untouched by humans, the tallest mountain in Maine(Mount Katahdin) miles and miles of hiking trails, water falls, camping, beautiful Mountain View’s, and many hundreds of miles of wilderness. I hiked part of the Appalachian trail through there. It’s breath taking.

I just spent two years on the Florida Panhandle there are beautiful. I think beautiful the coast of Maine is more beautiful. That’s just my opinion just saying.

Are there good, extensive gravel bike trails too?

Fellow mainer here, baxter is bigfoot territory. I do not seek them out.. but they live allnover maine. Especially northern maine.
@@ttb1513sugarloaf usa, near stratton maine.. there are miles of biking trails specifically. Some gravel.. many are maintained spring thru fall.
