This is an Asmongold I can happily watch. I am glad that you are trying to go into 14 with a clear head and not taking any preconceived notions with you. (instead of trying out Coil synced for fun, or try some extreme trials etc. .., fear he'll "rush / focus" only on MSQ and 1 maybe 2 classes, to get to Shadowbringers end

Summed it up perfectly. I did the same campaign and joined FF14 at the same time as Zepla, almost identical play pattern as well. Going into Night Fae it was weekly disappointment of "Oh there's nothing new." then "Oh but random x person over here oh no they need my help." Then nothing lol and just is there even a plot? It felt like random encounters a DM rolled off a table and then they picked names out of a bucket of famous lore characters to parachute into the story :D

@Cthulhu I roleplay in FFXIV. And it's to be a part of the world in a way that's beyond questing and raiding. We create our own content, give ourselves a reason to stay subbed even after we've finished gearing up. Essentially we fund the game while the raiders take their breaks between raid tiers. One FC I was part of had this overarching story with internal conflict when one of the officers wanted to basically nuke the capital of Garlemald while our FC leader was there (it was the excuse used to explain an irl vacation). There were stories where our FC lead was being hunted down by an Ala Mhigan because he wouldn't turn over a Garlean defector (She had turned over a new leaf and joined the Sultansworn to make up for what she did under orders). It's basically a chance to flex your own creative writing skills and add layers to the already amazing world that SE has provided us. It's like playing Dungeons and Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, or any other table top rpg only it takes place in a game, instead of a table in someone's kitchen.
This podcast really made me appreciate that Zepla is the one who kind of represents the XIV community because she actually also appreciates what wow did in the mmo genre and still hopes that it becomes what players want one day. She sees both sides of the coin for both games.
It certainly helps that FFXIV is being produced and directed by someone who appreciates WoW as being a guiding factor to FFXIV recovering. There's really no animosity there but to hear the actual head of the game say it really does help when the community hears it.
@@shepherdstar14 ff14 really evolved from wow. The action bars, tanks healers and dps, dungeons, raids. But really final fantasy decades ago cemented themselves into the rpg genre. Wow was just the most successful mmo especially when it was really new

I was there at launch and remember thumbing through the Vanilla manual. The artwork and detail really got me excited to get back to it while away for the holidays.
its accurate tho, wow was there for me during the worst parts of my life too, but ultimately it ended up keeping me from the things i really wanted to do.
I think this Allcraft was unironically one of their best ones they've done so far, if not the best, if anything because the conversations were both serious and on topic, while still being very laid back and the chemistry of all three was so good, the jokes, the humor, even the smallest bits like Zepla's curses and butt jokes, it was so funny to see Asmon's chat go from their usual toxic chat to slowly warming up to her and then being like "she's one of us" after hearing her talk of her feelings towards WoW and that one moment chat realized in the video that Zepla was wearing the same shirt and Asmon silently laughing about it. It was a great guest choice.

@@Gutlard I had tried the game in like 2014 and stopped playing and ended up making a new account to do free trial and then buy complete edition (cuz it would be same price to buy shadowbringers and a month of game time)
That said I feel like she should temper expectations a bit... XIV is good yes but it's not perfect. It has flaws to be sure and to certain WoW audiences (hardcore raiders, PVPers) it won't necessarily appeal at all. Let's not even talk about how much better WoW's Collection system is to XIV's glamour dresser.

I don't know if they are in this video because I haven't finished it but in the uncut podcast she did mention stuff like "Dont play this game if you onyl care about PVP" "The game won't be amazing right off the bat" etc etc. But good point.
Majority of JRPG games usually don’t offer PvP or it’s very bad compare to a lot of Western games. At the first, I think it might be a turn away from the hardcore players, but if you look closely. It reflects on something else about toxicity in game. MMO usually require you invest into it and learn something outside from the things you want to do. It already turn off ppl who don’t like to play a game when they aren’t felt comfortable to play with others already. That’s the part you see the different between someone else not into a spending to a game and it’s hard to convince them to do.
It’s literally so sad. Zach just wants to have fun, but he’s attached to this game and buried so deep in this hole of being an ambassador for wow. It’s almost like the community is clinging to him as this pillar of popularity where his voice is large enough to cause change for the better, but every day that passes, our voices matter less and less to blizzard. We have already been abandoned, and we need to accept that wow is no longer going to be catered toward the players for fun.
This even adds to what Zepla said, the players want to have fun but they only get to have the fun Blizzard decided they can have, Blizz don't listen to Asmon, they don't listen to the playerbase. The paradigm shift it would take for someone like Zepla, a long time fan to return would be listening to the playerbase. She even made it clear here that leaving WoW was really difficult and that she still keeps up with the game super casually but cannot return as the still have the philosophy "you play how we want you to play and you will like it" I honestly hope Asmon gets invested in FF14 and pulls his fanbase with him as a final nail in BlizActivisions coffin, they've not made a good game for over a decade and only have WoW players playing because of straight nostalgia.
@@greenchilistudioz4537 maybe not the final 9inch nail in the coffin, but losing one of (the) biggest "all round" streamer of WoW would really hurt the general perspective of the public/shareholders, therefor actually hurting Activision.
@@ridstock9663 I'm absolutely down for Asmon getting invested in XIV and having a great time with it, but I hope the majority of his fanbase stays with WoW. A lot of them are just needlessly toxic and narrow-minded. They're the kinds of people who hate on things they know absolutely nothing about just for the sake of having something to hate. They're the kinds of people who just look at something and immediately have the worst possible impression of it and then proceed to make up a bunch of stuff about it that isn't even remotely true followed by acting like it's all factual and indisputable. I used to personally know a lot of people like that when I was younger and it made my life miserable because of all the pointless negativity I was surrounded with, and my life didn't get better until I distanced myself from them. I don't want those same kinds of people flooding XIV and ruining the mostly chill and friendly community we currently have, and I honestly think Asmon would be happier without them.
The performance system of FFXIV simply puts other MMO's to shame. It's a little ridiculous how in depth and robust it is since it allows players the ability to play pretty much any song they can think of.
@@nightsong89 I kind of like the system Maplestory and Maplestory 2 had. Just load up a MIDI and watch your character play. Works great for talentless hacks like me
i think we all love or used to love wow and the state it is being in for the last couple of months/years (depending on how you feel) does just hurt and it has to stop! we should end this relationship because it does seem to get worse.
As a player who is kinda quitting the game cause im tired of so much bs, yeah it hits. That's a way to put the feeling that i have for not leaving the game completely
I feel like Zepla is a reflection of Asmongold in many ways. It was so great seeing them interact and relate on so many of WoW's issues that made them distrustful of Blizzard. Honestly this was one of my favourite episodes of Allcraft. Keep up the good work guys.
This was brilliant. Asmon and Zepla play off so well against each other. One thing I really like is that Zepla and a lot of FF XIV players do is referring to Yoshida and the other devs as "Our devs." not "The devs." it's a very subtle distinction that really shows the sense of community and mutual respect that the devs and have for each other vs WoW where it feels like the players are constantly at odds with the devs.
About the "our Devs" thing : it makes sense since Yoshi-P and his team do respect the players and they genuine want to provide the players what they want. The sad thing is that this was also the same way back in Blizzard especially during TBC and WotLK when Ghostcrawler was still in Blizzard- the guy made mistakes for sure but he was always close to the community and he wanted to provide us back in the day the best gaming experience. But since he and other developers, one after another were leaving from Blizzard and they were also in original wow Dev team, the game became something worse that the shadow of it's former self.
Look at the outpour of love and support sent towards Masayoshi Soken, the composer for FF14. Last Fanfest it was announced he has been battling cancer and still composing for the game as well.
it was a really great show. They all have a great chemistry between them and looks like all having fun and this is what MMORPG is all about, no matther wich one! One of the things I think makes ffxiv feel populated no matter what is that the new expansion doesn’t just automatically make everything thing that came out before completely obsolete. So people still visit those old areas.
I see that alot about people saying old content in wow is obsolete. I'm still in mists every week mount grinding, there's always old content in wow to do
This. The crafting/gathering system, relic weapon grind, the hunt, and even the MSQ necessitate people re-visiting old areas. There's so many new players these days that it doesn't even matter though.
@@bluejays6223 Right, but only for old stuff. FFXIV will send players back to old zones for content in the latest expansion. They don't forget previous zones still exist.
@@bluejays6223 There is a big difference between forcefully staying there and have relevant content available to encourage people staying there. Think about it, would you will still be staying there when you finish your mount grinding? FFXIV make sure there are plenty of old places still important to visit even when new expansion dropped.
You don't succeed in any group venture by getting mad at the group, hurling insults, and quitting. I get mad plenty often when people do stupid things during raids or trials in FF, but I do what most of the FF community does: take a breath, shake it off, and put a, "C'mon, guys! We can get it this time! Let's do it!" in chat. Everyone has a choice on whether they're going to make a troubling situation into a positive or a negative one. I honestly believe the FF community more often chooses a positive experience because of the positivity feedback loop in the game. Our devs play the game, they love the game, they respect us and listen to us. It's *good* and so our interactions with each other tend to be good. In WoW, the devs ignore the community, arrogantly decide to do whatever they want without regard for player feedback, act condescendingly towards the people they're supposed to be entertaining, and design aggressive, addictive-based systems. It's a negative situation that causes negative feedback loops, so of course the community is going to quickly become negative when everything from the game systems themselves to the people running the game are making not just bad but actively hostile decisions.
Preach. I just ran some hard mode dungeons two days ago and on one dungeon, we wiped like crazy because we didn’t properly understand the mechanics. No one in the group left and eventually, we had look it up, but finally beat it. That’s some patience right there and oh yes, the last boss almost wiped us, but the warrior tank soloed the remaining boss and won us the victory without a proper wipe on that boss. When they said that warriors were unkillable, they weren’t lying.
One thing I'm surprised Zepla didn't touch on with the "FF14 respects your time" bit: There was a player question once during a gamescom conference where someone asked about reasons to play more between content updates and Yoshi P (the game director)'s response was essentially just "I don't want people to feel like they have to play. If you don't feel like there's enough content for you, then cancel your sub and come back next content patch or whenever you want, there's tons of games out there and I don't want people to just be limited to this one."
Yeah, I think I have noticed a trend with a lot of WoW players that WoW is the only game they play. I couldn't imagine playing only one game for all my life. I love Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Spyro, Crash, Metroid, Dark Souls... a tone of different genres and difficulties.
Yoshi P is one of those rare Producers that had SE not kept him would fit right in with Nintendo's philosophy about games. He is in effect SE's version of Shigeru Miyamoto with a bit of Satoru Iwata mixed in. In the sense that even Yoshida understands that one to balance out everything a healthy life must come first. Its fun to know that you can dip in and out of XIV without feeling like you're behind. A few runs of current content or getting crafted gear and you're pretty much good to go for all the content.
@@user-lf7fz8ec3k For me, it's that I have a wonderful FC I enjoy hanging out with. Me and my brother both play together a lot too. Helping new players. And I've still got tons to do before Endwalker. I think it's also a pipe dream for most people to expect any game to provide eternal content without getting burned out on it. I play a ton of games too, not just 1 MMO.
Lalafells can be the most friendly characters in the game or unadulterated agents of Chaos. Every time one of them is born, the gods flips a coin and the world holds its breath.
Zepla and Asmon play off one another so well, it's amazing. They definitely get one another's humor and jokes. This earned Zepla a follow on Twitch and a sub on TH-cam.
she was my favorite FFXIV youtuber when i played (heavensward) - i'm glad to see she's still going Seven Stages of Zurvan and the one raging about the Palace of the Dead hairstyle are my two favorite videos about that game
I'm glad this interview happend becaus i think it reduced the enmity that Asmons chat and FFXIV players have against each other even if just a little bit. I think this made people on both sides realize that this is not a war.
I like how the chat only has one speed at all times: batshit insane. It's like they're kept permanently on crack in a dungeon with nothing but a keyboard and redbull.
@@hunterbralish7973 I couldnt disagree more with u there. While I admit myself to be somewhat biased as an ex wow player who migrated to 14 as well, I think she did a good job pointing out the most glaring differences and what asmon can expect going into it.
I loved this conversation. Zepla said everything I would like to tell Asmon in person if I could, and she was encouraging and understanding. Better yet since she’s a former WoW player. You could see Asmon relate to her experiences and even her initial views of FFXIV. I really hope we get follow up conversations soon as Asmon progresses through the game.
As someone who previously had zero interest in FFXIV, I picked up the trial last week to see what all the hubub was about. 6 days later, i'm a lvl56 ninja and am having a blast with the game, it's criminal that I ignored it for so long.
Welcome to the ninja life! It was my first class to 80 and still one of my favorites. There's an ability you'll get later that makes me laugh to this day because it's so random and over the top
I think I've watched every ALLCRAFT this was the best of them all, Best decision ever to have ZEPLA on, was not expecting much and was quite surprised She agreed to come on BUT this was the opposite of all expectations, Discussing 2 completely different games but the synergy and chemistry was awesome and alot of fun too. You defiantly MUST have Zepla on again in the future Recently quit WoW myself for FFXIV, 4 weeks ago after 14 years of my life was playing it so I understand very much the "divorce" analogy, its not easy, but that said I'm having an absolute blast in FFXIV, many friends from my WoW community have since joined and their also loving it, they literally can't believe the amount of awesome content that's all there by default, and the FFXIV community is absolutely off the chain, many say its a good community I was not expecting it to be anywhere near how welcoming, helpful and respectful they are, FFXIV is truly a breath of fresh air and more, alot more.
@@SirCharlzTV Hey, GW2 is a really good option too. It wasn't the game for me but I did have a lot of fun while playing it. You could do a lot worse. Just play what you enjoy. Everyone is different.

I played WoW off and on since launch, I started ff14 back im 2015, started playing again back in February and still am. FF14 is easier then WoW, but is more story driven. Game looks better in some ways then WoW. There are pluses and negatives. Playing WoW for sooo long, needed something different and ff14 provides that. Looking forward to endwalker to see what more they will add to the game

The leaders of both the Thaumaturge Guild and Black Mages, two of the most destructive forces in all of Eorzea, are all Lalafell. They're tiny, evil balls of destruction and chaos.
I just hope people can let him play, and respect his opinion after a good faith effort. Like, if he plays through, hates it, and gives fair criticism, that's fine! I hope he has a blast like I have, but if not, idc. I'll still watch the content just to see that outside perspective
Sadly, I think it's debatable what "fair criticism" is. I'm afraid he will eventually go back full to WoW, give his "fair criticism", but the audience will not deem it "fair". I hope that, as he said on stream, he can juggle 2 MMOs without any issues and give enough FFXIV content to satisfy the fans of that game before quitting
There is definitely an overzealous fan problem on both sides. People need to calm down and remember they're just games. Just because a somewhat famous person don't recognize the value of what you enjoy doesn't make it valueless. I could never get into WOW. Doesn't make it worthless. Just makes it not for me.
When Zepla said: "I ain't grinding for shit", THAT was it. I feel the same way. I'm not grinding ANYTHING. I exited wow when they began changing BiS gear on an almost weekly basis back in BfA and I have never looked back. In FFXIV I'm not worried that when the ceiling is raised, I'm gonna have to worry about the floor moving on me, specially after I already have grinded BiS.
I viewed that comment by her as sort of a negative though. Sure, I don't want to be chasing new BiS every week, but I also want a reason to log on and not just run around town in circles or run dungeons that I've already run a hundred times with no chance of relevant loot or upgrades. Part of the reason many people play MMORPGs is for the endgame grind, and to reach a point where that grind stops and there's nothing left to grind for, kind of defeats the purpose of playing.
@@mortox2k there’s things to do, they just aren’t always going to have meaningful power creep within the normal raid loop. You can go grind in eureka or bozja and get rewards for that, do relics, level alt jobs, make Gil, etc etc. I play the game every day and work on my character. I have all 80s and do side content for mounts and Gil and achievements and glamour. Shift your expectations of playing for power and play for progression on other areas. Games like wow have conditioned you to feel and think mmos can only be appreciated in a certain way.
@@mortox2k the gear grind takes a few weeks, then there’s tons of side content that has a ton of grinding to be done, especially if your new and have it all to do. It’s just not content that will make or break you being able to keep up with future content

Yeah, but Asmon really wants to play Dark Knight ASAP though, from the sound of it. So he most likely won't make to the badassery that is Fell Cleave. A pity.

Zepla is amazing. She has the energy of Rich and similar thinking as Asmon. The points she made throughout were awesome. Blizz really needs to re-think the direction they want the game to head in or they will or continue to push players away
This all feels like a lead up to some really great content ahead. He’s been watching some vids here and there and discussing Final Fantasy for a while and now we have an actual date to see him try it out. I’m actually excited about Asmon gameplay rather than just talks and reactions for once.
I know, I'm weirdly hyped about this. I can't wait to see all of his criticisms about how weeby the game is, which will slowly turn into a strange admiration for the game, which leads to him eventually quitting WoW and reclaiming his hair.
I hope he picks the same server than Zepla's on. It'd be neat for them to play together at some point. Like if he starts doing Savage raiding, or just to have someone to run dungeons with. Especially Deep Dungeons!

Zepla's attitude is correct: the game is ultimately a _product_ . If it becomes a _lousy_ product, I'll stop playing, I'll stop paying. Left just before 7.2 released, and I've been so much happier playing other games that offer more enjoyable experiences.

It's because the social experience from WoW has been lost. That's why we have such a painful feeling. It literally feels like we lost a friend because of the social experience it gave us.
This is seriously the cross-over I never knew I needed. I've been loving Zepla for a long time now, while Asmon's community has often put me off watching his content. I really love that the two of them can have a candid and open conversation about the games they love, something I wish the many fans could do more often. Asmongold, if you happen to read this, welcome to Eorzea. You may find that it's not the place for you, and if so, you still gave it a try and we can't ask for more than that. If you DO enjoy it, there's a wonderful community here. Just don't get too hung up on cat girls ;)
This is what I really hoped wouldn't happen. The zerg can be funny to a point, but they quickly become an annoyance and detract from his experience. I just hope people can give him some space to breath and play for himself. I genuinely think if he gets to Binding Coils and Heavensward (aka where the dragons are at), he might actually be interested in story content.
He can tweak it to "Assbungold", "Asbun'gold" or something like this, lmao. From a comment on FFXIV subreddit: "I've been in a full party about a year ago with their names being something like: Viewing Cutscene Viewing Cutscene' 'Viewing Cutscene Viewing' Cutscene Viewing 'Cutscene Viewing' 'Cutscene 'Viewing Cutscene' I've also seen a Viewin' Cutscene."
I absolutely love these videos, where Asmongold is just himself and not the big dick dps persona. He's actually a pretty smart guy, reasonable and funny. I've never watched a lot of his content, but it has been genuinely heartwarming to see him enjoying FFXIV, despite the shaky start.
oh ya, definitely. especially when she was talking about all her hobbies outside gaming, like cooking, working out, learning guitar, oh and showering every day... that all sounds just like Asmongold LOL
@@twinblade63 That's what makes her the alternate universe Asmon. The timelines diverged when she jumped ship to FFXIV, leading to her having other hobbies as well.
Tall and beefy: Highlander, Hrothgar, Roegadyn Tall and lanky: Elezen, Au ra But I recommend you play lalafell, Asmond. We are the master race in FF. Everyone else are side characters.
She has the same view as I do that ARR really is not that bad if you've played early vanilla or TBC WoW, I never played mmos apart from WoW so the grindy nature of the quests in ARR just felt super natural and expected I guess. If you play wow and have done the levelling 'experience' multiple times, you have no business criticising FF that actually tries to add a story and a reason to that grind.
I didn't play an MMO until Legion. I had no idea what I was doing. There was just me, my draenei shaman and quests. And I quested all the way to Legion. ARR was nothing in comparison, lol

Jumped into FFXIV a few weeks ago and reached HW the other day. I have had an absolute blast. The story, leveling, dungeons, raids, community, cutscenes, everything has just been exciting and a breath of fresh air after playing WoW since day 1. There is nothing Blizzard could do to bring me back to that game. You can thank Activision for that.
@@jet44444 I honestly suggest, doing binding coil of Bahamut before stepping into Heavensward. It will make explaining a bit of the lore behind Heavensward. If anything Binding Coil of Bahamut being a raid is stepped deep into the XIV lore it'd be a disservice. The other raids you'll have a blast.

I hope for some Guild housing like a big fk garrison for the hole guild and everybody has a house inside this guild garrison. But then you need to cap the guild member at I don’t know. The nodding in agreement. Respect for Asmongold for getting where she came from and understanding that WoW stopped offering the same magic. I imagine that Everquest fans felt the same with WoW. Doubly so since one guild of lads couldn't go through a series of quests just to force a server restart. Credit to both Asmongold and Zepla here, both are great here.
I honestly hope Asmongold finds the enjoyment in XIV that he feels he lost with playing games. For a long time in WoW, I also felt like I wasn't having much fun, and sometimes I felt it was because I was getting old, but in my case it was actually because I was playing a game in which I was alone most of the time in the overworld, and nothing really made me want to be part of it, like, look forward to logging on every day. Final Fantasy XIV gives me abstinence when I can't log on for too long lol to the point that when I'm working, I try to keep something related playing in the background to feel like I'm not that far. I just need to finish working and I'll be back in Eorzea. In some situations, I log in just to check how everyone in my FC is doing and if anyone needs help with something. This game makes us want to stand around the city and just talk to friends lol I guess this is what has been missing in WoW for so long. The ability to log in just to do nothing and hang out with your friends cause you don't have to be permanently using your time to grind thing or you'll be left behind.
Dude, we as Humans are social creatures. We want to be a part of a group, to be accepted and just chill and have fun. Never played FF14, just like watching Asmon's vids here on yt :) I was strongly considering to start playing though.
In this corridor we see a very good example of the specimen Ridiculus Infantilus, which is easily found in environments where the games they like seem to be in danger due to the developers' bad decisions. This species usually has a very limited vocabulary, limiting their interactions to grunts that usually sound like the word "weeb" to the human ears. Summed it up perfectly. I did the same campaign and joined FF14 at the same time as Zepla, almost identical play pattern as well. Going into Night Fae it was weekly disappointment of "Oh there's nothing new." then "Oh but random x person over here oh no they need my help." Then nothing lol and just is there even a plot? It felt like random encounters a DM rolled off a table and then they picked names out of a bucket of famous lore characters to parachute into the story :D

@Cthulhu I roleplay in FFXIV. And it's to be a part of the world in a way that's beyond questing and raiding. We create our own content, give ourselves a reason to stay subbed even after we've finished gearing up. Essentially we fund the game while the raiders take their breaks between raid tiers. One FC I was part of had this overarching story with internal conflict when one of the officers wanted to basically nuke the capital of Garlemald while our FC leader was there (it was the excuse used to explain an irl vacation). There were stories where our FC lead was being hunted down by an Ala Mhigan because he wouldn't turn over a Garlean defector (She had turned over a new leaf and joined the Sultansworn to make up for what she did under orders).
It's basically a chance to flex your own creative writing skills and add layers to the already amazing world that SE has provided us.
It's like playing Dungeons and Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, or any other table top rpg only it takes place in a game, instead of a table in someone's kitchen.

This podcast really made me appreciate that Zepla is the one who kind of represents the XIV community because she actually also appreciates what wow did in the mmo genre and still hopes that it becomes what players want one day. She sees both sides of the coin for both games.
It certainly helps that FFXIV is being produced and directed by someone who appreciates WoW as being a guiding factor to FFXIV recovering. There's really no animosity there but to hear the actual head of the game say it really does help when the community hears it.

I think this Allcraft was unironically one of their best ones they've done so far, if not the best, if anything because the conversations were both serious and on topic, while still being very laid back and the chemistry of all three was so good, the jokes, the humor, even the smallest bits like Zepla's curses and butt jokes, it was so funny to see Asmon's chat go from their usual toxic chat to slowly warming up to her and then being like "she's one of us" after hearing her talk of her feelings towards WoW and that one moment chat realized in the video that Zepla was wearing the same shirt and Asmon silently laughing about it. It was a great guest choice.

Zepla is so fucking great, shes the best ambassador for WoW refugees FF14 could ever have. You can tell how much she loves the game.
That said I feel like she should temper expectations a bit... XIV is good yes but it's not perfect. It has flaws to be sure and to certain WoW audiences (hardcore raiders, PVPers) it won't necessarily appeal at all. Let's not even talk about how much better WoW's Collection system is to XIV's glamour dresser.

Majority of JRPG games usually don’t offer PvP or it’s very bad compare to a lot of Western games. At the first, I think it might be a turn away from the hardcore players, but if you look closely. It reflects on something else about toxicity in game. MMO usually require you invest into it and learn something outside from the things you want to do. It already turn off ppl who don’t like to play a game when they aren’t felt comfortable to play with others already. That’s the part you see the different between someone else not into a spending to a game and it’s hard to convince them to do.
It’s literally so sad. Zach just wants to have fun, but he’s attached to this game and buried so deep in this hole of being an ambassador for wow. It’s almost like the community is clinging to him as this pillar of popularity where his voice is large enough to cause change for the better, but every day that passes, our voices matter less and less to blizzard. We have already been abandoned, and we need to accept that wow is no longer going to be catered toward the players for fun.
This even adds to what Zepla said, the players want to have fun but they only get to have the fun Blizzard decided they can have, Blizz don't listen to Asmon, they don't listen to the playerbase. The paradigm shift it would take for someone like Zepla, a long time fan to return would be listening to the playerbase. She even made it clear here that leaving WoW was really difficult and that she still keeps up with the game super casually but cannot return as the still have the philosophy "you play how we want you to play and you will like it"
I honestly hope Asmon gets invested in FF14 and pulls his fanbase with him as a final nail in BlizActivisions coffin, they've not made a good game for over a decade and only have WoW players playing because of straight nostalgia.

I'm absolutely down for Asmon getting invested in XIV and having a great time with it, but I hope the majority of his fanbase stays with WoW. A lot of them are just needlessly toxic and narrow-minded. They're the kinds of people who hate on things they know absolutely nothing about just for the sake of having something to hate. They're the kinds of people who just look at something and immediately have the worst possible impression of it and then proceed to make up a bunch of stuff about it that isn't even remotely true followed by acting like it's all factual and indisputable. I used to personally know a lot of people like that when I was younger and it made my life miserable because of all the pointless negativity I was surrounded with, and my life didn't get better until I distanced myself from them. I don't want those same kinds of people flooding XIV and ruining the mostly chill and friendly community we currently have, and I honestly think Asmon would be happier without them.

The performance system of FFXIV simply puts other MMO's to shame. It's a little ridiculous how in depth and robust it is since it allows players the ability to play pretty much any song they can think of.

This was brilliant. Asmon and Zepla play off so well against each other.
One thing I really like is that Zepla and a lot of FF XIV players do is referring to Yoshida and the other devs as "Our devs." not "The devs." it's a very subtle distinction that really shows the sense of community and mutual respect that the devs and have for each other vs WoW where it feels like the players are constantly at odds with the devs.
About the "our Devs" thing : it makes sense since Yoshi-P and his team do respect the players and they genuine want to provide the players what they want. The sad thing is that this was also the same way back in Blizzard especially during TBC and WotLK when Ghostcrawler was still in Blizzard- the guy made mistakes for sure but he was always close to the community and he wanted to provide us back in the day the best gaming experience. But since he and other developers, one after another were leaving from Blizzard and they were also in original wow Dev team, the game became something worse that the shadow of it's former self.
Look at the outpour of love and support sent towards Masayoshi Soken, the composer for FF14. Last Fanfest it was announced he has been battling cancer and still composing for the game as well.
More like the devs are constantly at odds with the players.

One of the things I think makes ffxiv feel populated no matter what is that the new expansion doesn’t just automatically make everything thing that came out before completely obsolete. So people still visit those old areas.

This. The crafting/gathering system, relic weapon grind, the hunt, and even the MSQ necessitate people re-visiting old areas. There's so many new players these days that it doesn't even matter though.

You don't succeed in any group venture by getting mad at the group, hurling insults, and quitting. I get mad plenty often when people do stupid things during raids or trials in FF, but I do what most of the FF community does: take a breath, shake it off, and put a, "C'mon, guys! We can get it this time! Let's do it!" in chat. Everyone has a choice on whether they're going to make a troubling situation into a positive or a negative one. I honestly believe the FF community more often chooses a positive experience because of the positivity feedback loop in the game. Our devs play the game, they love the game, they respect us and listen to us. It's *good* and so our interactions with each other tend to be good. In WoW, the devs ignore the community, arrogantly decide to do whatever they want without regard for player feedback, act condescendingly towards the people they're supposed to be entertaining, and design aggressive, addictive-based systems. It's a negative situation that causes negative feedback loops, so of course the community is going to quickly become negative when everything from the game systems themselves to the people running the game are making not just bad but actively hostile decisions.

I just ran some hard mode dungeons two days ago and on one dungeon, we wiped like crazy because we didn’t properly understand the mechanics.
No one in the group left and eventually, we had look it up, but finally beat it.
That’s some patience right there and oh yes, the last boss almost wiped us, but the warrior tank soloed the remaining boss and won us the victory without a proper wipe on that boss.
When they said that warriors were unkillable, they weren’t lying.
One thing I'm surprised Zepla didn't touch on with the "FF14 respects your time" bit: There was a player question once during a gamescom conference where someone asked about reasons to play more between content updates and Yoshi P (the game director)'s response was essentially just "I don't want people to feel like they have to play. If you don't feel like there's enough content for you, then cancel your sub and come back next content patch or whenever you want, there's tons of games out there and I don't want people to just be limited to this one."
Yeah, I think I have noticed a trend with a lot of WoW players that WoW is the only game they play.
I couldn't imagine playing only one game for all my life. I love Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Spyro, Crash, Metroid, Dark Souls... a tone of different genres and difficulties.
Yoshi P is one of those rare Producers that had SE not kept him would fit right in with Nintendo's philosophy about games. He is in effect SE's version of Shigeru Miyamoto with a bit of Satoru Iwata mixed in. In the sense that even Yoshida understands that one to balance out everything a healthy life must come first. Its fun to know that you can dip in and out of XIV without feeling like you're behind. A few runs of current content or getting crafted gear and you're pretty much good to go for all the content.

I loved this conversation. Zepla said everything I would like to tell Asmon in person if I could, and she was encouraging and understanding. Better yet since she’s a former WoW player. You could see Asmon relate to her experiences and even her initial views of FFXIV.

I think I've watched every ALLCRAFT this was the best of them all, Best decision ever to have ZEPLA on, was not expecting much and was quite surprised She agreed to come on BUT this was the opposite of all expectations, Discussing 2 completely different games but the synergy and chemistry was awesome and alot of fun too.

Recently quit WoW myself for FFXIV, 4 weeks ago after 14 years of my life was playing it so I understand very much the "divorce" analogy, its not easy, but that said I'm having an absolute blast in FFXIV, many friends from my WoW community have since joined and their also loving it, they literally can't believe the amount of awesome content that's all there by default, and the FFXIV community is absolutely off the chain, many say its a good community I was not expecting it to be anywhere near how welcoming, helpful and respectful they are, FFXIV is truly a breath of fresh air and more, alot more.

FF14 is easier then WoW, but is more story driven. Game looks better in some ways then WoW. There are pluses and negatives. Playing WoW for sooo long, needed something different and ff14 provides that. Looking forward to endwalker to see what more they will add to the game

There is definitely an overzealous fan problem on both sides. People need to calm down and remember they're just games. Just because a somewhat famous person don't recognize the value of what you enjoy doesn't make it valueless. I could never get into WOW. Doesn't make it worthless. Just makes it not for me.
If it's fair and not LazyPeon like then yeah I would respect him. FF14 is not for everyone. He could also try GW2 and ESO.
When Zepla said: "I ain't grinding for shit", THAT was it. I feel the same way. I'm not grinding ANYTHING. I exited wow when they began changing BiS gear on an almost weekly basis back in BfA and I have never looked back. In FFXIV I'm not worried that when the ceiling is raised, I'm gonna have to worry about the floor moving on me, specially after I already have grinded BiS.
I viewed that comment by her as sort of a negative though. Sure, I don't want to be chasing new BiS every week, but I also want a reason to log on and not just run around town in circles or run dungeons that I've already run a hundred times with no chance of relevant loot or upgrades. Part of the reason many people play MMORPGs is for the endgame grind, and to reach a point where that grind stops and there's nothing left to grind for, kind of defeats the purpose of playing.
@@mortox2k there’s things to do, they just aren’t always going to have meaningful power creep within the normal raid loop. You can go grind in eureka or bozja and get rewards for that, do relics, level alt jobs, make Gil, etc etc. I play the game every day and work on my character. I have all 80s and do side content for mounts and Gil and achievements and glamour. Shift your expectations of playing for power and play for progression on other areas. Games like wow have conditioned you to feel and think mmos can only be appreciated in a certain way.
@@mortox2k the gear grind takes a few weeks, then there’s tons of side content that has a ton of grinding to be done, especially if your new and have it all to do. It’s just not content that will make or break you being able to keep up with future content

This all feels like a lead up to some really great content ahead. He’s been watching some vids here and there and discussing Final Fantasy for a while and now we have an actual date to see him try it out. I’m actually excited about Asmon gameplay rather than just talks and reactions for once.

This is what I really hoped wouldn't happen. The zerg can be funny to a point, but they quickly become an annoyance and detract from his experience. I just hope people can give him some space to breath and play for himself. I genuinely think if he gets to Binding Coils and Heavensward (aka where the dragons are at), he might actually be interested in story content.

She has the same view as I do that ARR really is not that bad if you've played early vanilla or TBC WoW, I never played mmos apart from WoW so the grindy nature of the quests in ARR just felt super natural and expected I guess. If you play wow and have done the levelling 'experience' multiple times, you have no business criticising FF that actually tries to add a story and a reason to that grind.
I didn't play an MMO until Legion. I had no idea what I was doing. There was just me, my draenei shaman and quests. And I quested all the way to Legion.

Jumped into FFXIV a few weeks ago and reached HW the other day. I have had an absolute blast. The story, leveling, dungeons, raids, community, cutscenes, everything has just been exciting and a breath of fresh air after playing WoW since day 1. There is nothing Blizzard could do to bring me back to that game. You can thank Activision for that.

@@jet44444 I honestly suggest, doing binding coil of Bahamut before stepping into Heavensward. It will make explaining a bit of the lore behind Heavensward. If anything Binding Coil of Bahamut being a raid is stepped deep into the XIV lore it'd be a disservice. The other raids you'll have a blast.

I want to echo Zepla in saying I really enjoyed ARR. It has the fantasy of classic WoW of starting as a lowly adventurer so I was into it.

The housing in FF is also not perfect.
I hope for some Guild housing like a big fk garrison for the hole guild and everybody has a house inside this guild garrison. But then you need to cap the guild member at I don’t know.
I would be fk hard to do but if this gets made right it would be awsome. Like the guild garrison gets attacked once a week and this is a guild raid or or or there are so many possibilities

While you don't need to know anything about Final Fantasy to enjoy FFXIV, being able to get all the references and whatnot from past ones is amazing.

The nodding in agreement. Respect for Asmongold for getting where she came from and understanding that WoW stopped offering the same magic. I imagine that Everquest fans felt the same with WoW. Doubly so since one guild of lads couldn't go through a series of quests just to force a server restart. Credit to both Asmongold and Zepla here, both are great here.
I honestly hope Asmongold finds the enjoyment in XIV that he feels he lost with playing games. For a long time in WoW, I also felt like I wasn't having much fun, and sometimes I felt it was because I was getting old, but in my case it was actually because I was playing a game in which I was alone most of the time in the overworld, and nothing really made me want to be part of it, like, look forward to logging on every day. Final Fantasy XIV gives me abstinence when I can't log on for too long lol to the point that when I'm working, I try to keep something related playing in the background to feel like I'm not that far. I just need to finish working and I'll be back in Eorzea. In some situations, I log in just to check how everyone in my FC is doing and if anyone needs help with something. This game makes us want to stand around the city and just talk to friends lol I guess this is what has been missing in WoW for so long. The ability to log in just to do nothing and hang out with your friends cause you don't have to be permanently using your time to grind thing or you'll be left behind.

@@tbone8644 99% of the WoW players which call FF a ****** and a weeb game, say that its because the "Cat girls", "bunny girls", "Dragon girls" and "kid like" characters makes it a Weeb and furries games.
But they dont think nor admit the fact that WoW has literally, cows, pandas, dogs/wolves, fox furries (Vulperas), monkeys, space goats and gnomes as player characters. While FF is just a humanoid with Cat/Bunny ears and a tail.. nothing else.
@@bewolf16 Weeb and furry are different. Cat girl are 200% anime/weeb stuff, same for bunny girls. The lack of "fur" is in fact what makes it weeby.
@@TheAssirra I meant it mostly on the fact that most players use the Animal look alike excuse as defense. But WoW has literally the same thing. Except that you are basically the animal as a whole. Which IMO makes it worst. Ans this comes from a person who played wow for 11 years...
