Yeah, it's not even limited to the superhero movies; it's basically all movoes across all genres, but seems to be the more prominent in any action/fantasy type media. Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are other great examples, plus some of the anime live action they've tried. It's not just the writing either; it's "the message" in the writing. They're trying to be acitivists instead of storytellers.
It's very funny to me how many people dont know/forgot Krypto, but at the same time, im a huge comic nerd so i get why people who aren't super into comics wouldn't know him
Most people don't even know Brainiac or Bizarro. The general public knows very little about Superman outside of the most basic stuff such as Lois Lane being his love interest, Lex Luthor being his archenemy, Kryptonite being his weakness, Clark Kent being his civilian disguise, and Krypton being his home planet.
Hopefully Superman will be Smallville level powerful because Smallville Clark is the most powerful Superman in media including the cartoons. Smallville Clark is also the silver age Superman they stated it on the show

Lex Luthor is played by Nicholas Hoult, who played the younger version of Beast in the X-Men movies. Also, surprised to see you guys not recognize Krypto. Superman's dog has been a part of his mythos for ages, having a cameo in the 90s cartoon, getting his own cartoon in the 2000s, and starring in the DC League of Super Pets movie a couple years back, where he was voiced by The Rock!
Krypto is a bit of an icon in the comics. The playful Action Comics Superman usually doesn't age well with comic readers. You get in your late teens and you want serious and dark comics. Superman somehow always brings us home to being kids again. Krypto, Superboy, Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes would be great parts of old Superman comics to bring to pop culture that has forgotten how to have hope and fun.
Smallville is one of my favorite tv shows of all time. Also Krypto is Superman's dog from Krypton. His parents sent him first to test the type of shop they'd send Superman in. Krypto got caught in like a wormhole so time was different and he didn't make it till Superman was either a teenager or grown.
Im optimistic since james gun has been doing a great job with dc and when he did his reaveal on the future movies and shows coming out it made me more confident cause he talked about comics hes taking inspiration from on his movies/shows, would recommend you watch that video if ur interested in the future shows/movies that'll come out in the next 5-8 years

All time there have for sure been a lot of retelling of his stories(worth pointing out this isnt an origin story) but in terms of recent stories that have hit the main stream there havent been that many. Injustice, Man of Steel, BvS are the ones that i know the average consumer are familiar with. Compared to other Heroes in tier of general popularity. Batman and Spider-Man have had more movies and content in general and you dont get that same initial response on media from them. This isnt a super common reaction but Bethany isnt the only one I've seen make it and i think it stems from 2 things. 1 - Its a testament to supermans overall popularity over such a long period of time, his story and iconography is just so well known and 2 - recently there have been so many stories trying to subvert or are clearly inspired by the superman idea. The Boys, Invincible, Brightburn, that have gone mainstream and they call to the superman idea that it feels theres more superman than there is

After seeing the trailer, I am so ready for this film. With any luck, it will be the first great Superman film since 1980's Superman II. This will NOT be another Superman origin story all the characters are already established. I’m hoping this will take a little bit of inspiration from the cartoon my adventures with superman, which is fantastic. It’s very short so far season three just wrapped up earlier this year and it’s only 30 episodes thus far and I cannot recommend that show enough .if you like Superman and you have a taste for anime and you don’t mind seeing a artistic take on some of these characters you are gonna have a fun with it. Also Nathan Fillion as guide Gardner has got to be the greatest casting I’ve ever seen. Back in the day when they were making the Green Lantern movie, Ryan Reynolds was WB’s first choice for the character. However, a fan trailer released before the Green Lantern movie had various footage of Nathan Fillion. This film trailer with viral, and everyone clambered for him to play Hal Jordan. It never happened but he did get the voice hell in a lot of animated stuff and those are all very good. I also recommend you to check those out. So seeing him as a green lantern at all is a big win for fans. Guy Gardner is the asshole of the three human green lanterns but he’s entertaining enough. As a matter fact there is a Daffy duck cartoon. He could look up where Dassie accidentally steals Hal Jordan’s costume from the laundromat. It he becomes a green lantern, and he goes out and fight Senestraro with Guy Gardner. It’s really cool.

Krypto is usually a shark-jump character in Superman's history. We ran out of ideas for Superman, so how about super pets? Krypto is the best known, but there is a cat, a monkey, a horse, among others, even a super-cow. The silver age was weird, and weird things happened. Bringing some of those ideas forward is always a risk. There were enough cool things in this to be intriguing, but I cringe whenever the super-pets are trotted out. I have concerns but will reserve judgement for the time being.
Henry Cavils my Superman. I grew up on Reeves, animated series, Smallville, Brandon Routh and I loved Henrys version. They did him dirty and we lost a great Superman. Im passing on this movie, never liked James Gunns overhyped movies nor do I like current DC. The Batman was an awful movie as well. The trailer was good though, there was just too many other characters in there when this is suppose to be an introduction movie to James Gunns DC universe. I don’t like the suit, I don’t like the “S”. I think Im just over at all these reboots of a character in my lifetime. Like for Batman, did we need that recent film? I rather we had a Batman Beyond movie. As for Spider-Man, I wanted more Tobey films, didn’t get any of that. I want more Hugh Jackman as Wolverine especially in the suit and we NOW got it, these studios just like to waste time and great potential.
