Old NORDIC hammer Restoration with AMAZING outcome

- Restoration of an old NORDIC hammer from T.O.R., Sweden. I do a beautiful job on this old tool and add some cool custom engravings. See the amazing outcome!
THE NORDIC HAMMER
This is a Swedish made TOR hammer. I got it from a local farmer. It was fully functional and had an incredibly beautiful layer of rust. There was a lot of scratches and craters in the metal.
THE RESTORATION PROCESS
I carefully disassembled the hammer shaft from the head and sandblasted the metal. I did a lot of grinding and sanding to get rid of all the scars after many years of hard work. I did a custom Nordic Viking’ish design and engraved it into the metal. I also mirror polished both hammer ends and the engraving details. I reused the shaft and added a symbol of Thor viking rune on the shaft. I am VERY satisfied with this restoration video and I hope that you enjoy it too.

This dude just broke his pencil lead to flex his wooden moose sharpener on us, I love it.
ha ha thanks for noticing :)
Yes, the direction of drawing was wrong, I wasn't surprised it broke. Indeed a nice moose head sharpener.
I really hope the pencil is stolen from IKEA though

Well... I probably know who inspired you. This part reminded me of this Japanese guy who makes knifes from virtually every material. In case this was intended, it had almost the same flavor. I liked it a lot.

😅😅😅 indeed
Imagine going back in time and showing a Viking a laser engraver. He'd think you're Thor himself.
Or a God no less⚡⚒️
not a real nordic hammer. they did not have the technology to put 12kg on the bottom
The biggest flex in this video was that Moose pencil sharpener 😆
Imagine thinking it's a hanmer from the viking period...

That laser engraver is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
thanks Garret :)
very very cool
Can we just talk about that laser engraver for a sec? one of the most amazing thing I have ever seen!
Somehow I still didn't want to look directly at it, even though I know it's just my monitor!
@@okene They used their laser-raptors.

@major Well, they did. Just that they asked Thor to send down the lightning for it.
Anyone else finds watching videos like this completely satisfying? Like I have no interest in doing this myself, but watching someone else doing it is completely mesmerizing.
Absolutely love it! In a world where when something gets old and broken or rusty and most people would just throw it out or buy a new one, it's nice to see someone not only fixing things but making them even cooler than they were originally! 👏👏👏
thank you so much I really appreciate your comment :)
That is not old, it's stamped with the weight on the bottom in metric even
"old nordic" haha, its modern and unused even. just a bit of surface rust. totally midleading title
A pleasure to watch from start to finish: old school and new school in perfect harmony. Love it.
thank you so much :)

Can we just appreciate that his videos doesn't have stupid loud background music
@@terribleusername as in like throughout the entire video were as for the showcase its fine
I don't care about the background music.
He makes many steps for nothing. Like sanding it down after blasting.
And second the polishing he did where he wants to engrave he did not show.
So putting a hammer in a water bucket and let it sit there gives the same result.
If just wants to engrave he should do that and let that other crap be

Thank you,I'd wondered! Great choice by Awesome Restorations!
Always makes me smile when I see a random comment on the internet and can instantly tell, this person reads the Eddas!
Plot twist: this man is a dwarf and that's how they created Mjolnir
A homo sapien woah is that real!?
@@Phenom408 real or not, only the old wise Ymir knows
I love the actual story of the crafting of Mjölnir. Loki wanted to screw with it for reasons, so he turned into a horsefly and kept biting the dwarves. They mostly ignored it, but at one point one of them stops to swat him and they mess up with the bellows and part of the handle gets heated unevenly and breaks off. So according to the actual mythology Mjölnir has a comically short handle.
@@thepip3599 Yea, but Mjolnir is still extremely powerful even though the dwarves messed up a little bit. And Loki got he's punishment after this "prank".
A homo sapien
I know. He got his mouth sewn shut.
"Old Nordic hammer"
Literally a rusty hammer from Ikea
Me: "Well he technically not completely wrong"
😂😂 it is manufactured in Sweden by company named TOR
pretty good shape, only had surface rust. can't have been that old.
The title is 100% click bait. Imagine my disappointment when I'm expecting to see a centuries old nordic hammer getting restored only to discover a lightly used hammer that's maybe a couple decades old at best.
@@ferox63 i don't disagree in principle, but something centuries old ain't for the restoration but for museum, don't you think?
I for one don't feel particularly cheated, although _nordic_ was a bit redundant.
Chris, so true. I was thinking early on, if this is an "old Nordic" hammer, why would you restore 'history'? Why would yow want to make something of historical value into something shiney and modern?
I gave the title of this video post more value and credit than it deserved (my error.) It's really just an old rusty Nordic type hammer (is that correct?) restored to look like DIY.
The guy has a slew of tech gear and equipment and seems very savvy with it all, and good for him.
This is a curiosity video for me because I'm not about to restore something I will have to dust. LOL.

You converted an ordinary hammer to a piece of fine art with ethnic significance. Excellent!
