I use a small toothbrush (for a decade now) with the Jolene mixture to lighten a few streaks in my medium brown hair.

A friend of a friend has been highlighting her hair exactly this way since the 70s! Her hair is long, long, long, medium brown, and always looks fab! You must have seen skip2mylou's Channel?? That's where I first saw this in action, and I then was reminded, of the friend of a friend!

I watched two videos by skip2mylou and now I watched your video. I think the Jolen worked well on your hair. Especially when I pause the video and look carefully at your hair compared to before Jolen. I bought Jolen and I am very pleased with your video and your acknowledging skip2mylou. My hair is quite a bit darker than either of you two. I'm hoping to just put in a few highlights to lighten the hair around my face. My husband likes my hair more blonde but I do not like roots and constant trips to the salon. Thank you both for sharing your videos and this product.

Great video! I highlighted my hair with a frosting cap but mixed some spots. Luckily, I happened to have some Jolen bleach I can use now to highlight the parts I mixed. Thanks!

Looks good Barbara. I love this product. BTW I had my salt and pepper roots colored today in a warm brown color. The stylist made 32 foils of highlights and lowlights all over my head but it really wasn’t as bright as I previously had it around my face. So I when I got home, I used jolen on dry hair leaving it on for 20 mins. It wasn’t light enough. Maybe the fresh toner filled my bleach work? I will try again and use the jolen product to frame my face again leaving it on much longer, at least an hour or more to get the brightness back. I need to do this because I have to match my clip on pony tail with blonde streaks. This product is thick and I can pull my hair in a ponytail to make sure I have heavy streaks to match my clip on pony tail hair piece, This product is thick and not too harsh. I recommend it.

I think you have done an awesome job, I have taken my hairdressing. It looks great. I too have tried this after watching the lady with the knife who started this . Its incredible I just luv it, it's cheap i use thicker pieces though and leave on longer yay u are great and luv it

I have highlighted my hair for over 30 years. I use high lighting with a little brush and it almost always comes out good. I have med brown hair, and very little gray. I'm 77 so that to me is ridiculous. My daughters all have lots of gray under their dyed hair. Loreal, clarol, Garnier all have highlighting kits. From 10.00 to 18.00 way cheaper than beauty salons. I might try that brand. It looks great

Definately lighter...i used during lockdown myself! Really worked well. Now doing it again as i coloured my hair and has come out bit dark 🙄... i use small plastic bag and pull through strands 😂. Don't think i could master the knife trick. You don't look 61! And no grey hairs?? Wow...i started going grey at 18. Love from Ireland . 🇨🇮🇬🇧

PS..it's often better to do the back area first ,that way as you pull each layer over it won't contaminate the next two of bleach

Wow this worked on you very well. Yes much lighter and good highlights. I saw the same video last year, bought the Jolen and have been afraid to try it. My hair is long 9" below my shoulders so doing this myself might turn out splotchy. Also, I have coloring my own hair with Clairol's 5N for a couple years now. Does this process make your hair break or feel like straw...?? My biggest worry is breakage, and straw.

Would this work to dip dye brown hair?
That I do not know....I've only used it on my light colored hair.
I used and it's supposed to come off after , 4 weeks but it's not coming off did it come off for u?
I don't remember reading that it would come off after 4 weeks.....Mine seemed to fade a little bit but after 4 wks I was able to get my hair professionally. This was a cheap and easy way to get me through the time when the salons weren't open
I'm a redhead (going grey .. actually dog pee yellow) and gonna try it. If my hair breaks off, I'll let you know. lol

Hey I was wondering when it fades because it looks terrible on me so I’m really waiting for it to fade in my hair
Being that it is bleach.....I had to let mine grow out. When I was able I went to the stylist and she put in her highlights over it.
I am wondering if you went to the stylist later on - were you dissatisfied with this process over time? Would you continue using Jolen or continue going to the salon? @@AgeIsJustANumber

It didnt work for me, I think you need to use developer aswell, not just bleach
I did it very lightly! I was a bit chicken!
@@AgeIsJustANumber Mine has gone lighter by a good number or shades but from what I have read the bleach lightens the hair, but you also need developer to change the color? Its like a 2 prong process, developer 30 is the best for lightening... Im still not 100% sure tbh
