    We are waiting for our 2.0t Ultimate with the Ultimate Tech Package to be delivered. From the 3 we have test driven I had a few things I found that may be helpful to those looking at the Santa Fe. First, if you go outside and physically start the vehicle to warm up you do not have the ability to lock the door once it is running. For instance, I drove the 2016 Nissan Murano and I was able to lock the door after starting and going back inside. And this also spills into quick stops at the gas station and etc. I loved the option of leaving the car running in really cold weather when I ran in to grab a drink at the gas station. Unfortunately I will not have that option when our new Santa Fe arrives. Second, having to pay for Hyundai Blue Link to have remote start. We live in West Michigan and the winters here are pretty harsh so remote start is an absolute must. It wasn't enough to deter us from deciding on the Santa Fe but I'm not going to enjoy having to pay $99 a year to have a remote start. We do have the option of installing an aftermarket unit but that will add another key fob to the keychain. Third is the smart lift gate. Love the ease of this feature but it has a flaw. It is proximity sensing so if you happen to be close enough to the rear hatch and you do not want the hatch to open it still will. so be mindful not to stand behind the vehicle and have a conversation, it will get interrupted lol. My final input subject is the interior cabin lighting. Hyundai did a great job on refreshing the interior and giving it a modern upscale feel. But the cabin lights do not flow. They used the older style "yellowish" lights. The reason I noticed this is because we tested out the Tucson before the Santa Fe. The Tucson utilizes new blue LED cabin lights that illuminate the cabin expertly and are easy on the eyes at night. They also lend a helping hand in keeping the feel upscale. I just wish they rolled the same lighting into the Santa Fe. BUT these few things are the only things I have noticed on this vehicle. With that said I can say I am fully happy with our choice on purchasing the 2017 Santa Fe!! I will give an update after we have the vehicle and have driven it for a while. I know this is a long comment but I hope it helps with those that are looking at picking up the new Santa Fe. Also, +Lauren Fix, I do not believe that it is equipped with rain sensing wipers.

    I purchased the 2017 Santa Fe Sport Ultimate 2.0L Turbo with the Tech Package. I love it! Has all the perks, safety, and features of a luxury but at a reasonable price.

    I liked the review a lot. I had to upgrade because my 2013 Santa Fe was totaled, no fault of my own, and I needed another Santa Fe. I had the seven passenger in 2013 and it was the frosted mocha. I found a 2017 Circuit Silver fully loaded Ultimate AWD seven passenger, and I couldn’t be happier. The only problem is going from a car I paid off back to a car payment.

    Hey Lauren I'm an enthusiast and I've been waiting for a proper review of this car. I'm leasing a 2014 Santa fe limited which I love. I'm planning on getting the sport this December as we don't really need the third row. Its a great car. My only gripe is that while your reviewing they show the larger version of it and I don't want people to get confused. Cant wait to get this one however. Keep up the good work!!

    Here in the UK we have the 2017 Santa Fe premium se Auto with a 2.2 Lt Turbo charged diesel engine giving 197 BHP with a fuel return of an average 34 MPG. In the UK the Santa Fe premium se is only in a 7 seat spec (no SWB) which is heavily loaded with extras. The main difference is our spec is similar to the European spec which forfeits all round camera system as standard but gives us a better suspension and set up for our tight bends and twisting roads. This means the Santa Fe drives like a dream with the tighter suspension. I have had mine for a few months now and love it.

    I have a 2017 Santa Fe Sport. I love it!!! It handles like a dream with the tightest turn radius I could imagine in a vehicle this size. The review doesn't cover the tech aspect very well or even the looks of the interior. I took the car out for a test drive and brought it by my house for my wife to see. One look at the interior and she was sold. 😎 The Santa Fe Sport has Apple Car Play which is great. The Navigation system is much better than the one in my 2013 Honda Accord. I love the heated steering wheel and all the display options on the dashboard. I especially like the old school analog gauges for the speedometer and tachometer combined with a digital speed indicator in between them. There is a whole range of car information available but my favorite is the tire display which shows you the actual PSI of each tire. My Honda would tell you a tire was less than optimal pressure but it wouldn't say which tire or how bad the situation was which meant I had to pull over and check. I love the exterior looks of the Santa Fe Sport too and more than one person thought it looked like a Mercedes Benz SUV. I love the 360° cameras and the various warning systems ESPECIALLY the side mirror warnings because there are blind spots on this vehicle. Besides the looks, features and ride I liked the price. The list on my Santa Fe Sport was more than $37,000. I paid slightly above #28,000 for this vehicle and almost $600 LESS than what I would have paid for a 2017 Honda CRV that I almost bought before changing my mind. It should be noted that in the past 24 years I have bought 8 Hondas so buying a Hyundai was a huge deal for me. I got way more features on my Santa Fe Sport than the CRV and a much longer and better warranty. My only real complaint is the fact it doesn't have automatic headlights when you turn on the wipers. I am a little perplexed at this over sight because this has been a feature of most cars and was on a 2009 Honda Accord I owned before buying the 2013. Living in Florida it rains a lot and by law if it is raining you have to turn on the headlights. It's a convenience issue but it also could be a safety issue. BTW, I didn't get the turbo version (I have an inherent mistrust of turbos and hate the replacement cost when they do go) but I have found the standard 185 HP engine to be more than worthy of this vehicle. I had no issues going through the Smokey Mountains unlike an older CRV I owned back in 2001 that had major issues with those same mountains.

    Lauren you had some good comments but you jumbled up the reviews of Santa Fe and Santa Fe sport. Hence why so many people confused in comments. The 38 K price tag is for the bigger version with 19 inch wheel base.. You started reviewing sport which costs way less. I own a 17 Santa Fe ultimate awd 3rd row seat.. This is top of line and I paid under 38. Overall very happy with it and highly recommend it to people with kids and pets that need extra room. 3rd row seat that fold into cargo space is a godsend. Similar vehicles in category will easily cost an additional 10k. Good luck to everyone in their search

    I am about one year away for purchasing a new sedan or SUV crossover so doing my homework in advance. That said, I have already viewed several reviews for this particular model/segment and what stood out here was your fair comment that for a "small wheel base" and such you're going to feel the bumps, so there is a trade off either you want more sport or more comfort or cushion, etc. I prefer more sport and quite frankly, I don't like the cushioning, ballooning kind of feel in a car. It reminds me of the older cars with way too much spring I suppose. I am digressing here. So, the fact that you realized that made me feel better about considering this one. Other reviews pointed out the "you can feel the bumps" as if it was suppose to be a 60K plus luxury vehicle (non SUV) or your "Dad's" car. And, to top it off, you reviewed a black exterior model, which is what I am shooting for!! Thanks Lauren!!!

      Lauren Fix Hi, I'm tossing between the CX9 Signature and Sante Fe Ultimate. CX9 Signature doesn't have panoramic roof, 360 camera, Apple and Android, ventilated seats and it's $4000 cheaper than the CX9 Signature which is $52,000 in Canada and Sante Fe Ultimate $48,000. Which is the better vehicle and what would you choose???

    • @CarCoachReports
      @CarCoachReports  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Personally, I think you get a lot of vehicle for the money on the CX-9. Ive recommended it to 3 people who purchased the CX-9 and they are so very happy. The CX-9 was a finalist for SUV of the Year - there is no doubt this is an impressive SUV for the price.

    Quick Questions:
    Thanks for the review!
    Can you talk a bit more about the back? storage space? reclining seats? Do the seats lay down completely flat? Would someone who wants to sleep overnight in the back with a sleeping bag have legroom after the seats are put down? (5'8") You showed the storage space in the 2017. How much space is there? length? width? depth? Does the newer model have the same amount of storage space?

    does Hyundai have a bigger cross over other than Santa Fe!? I heard they stopped manufacturing the Vera Cruz SUVs and now they introduce a new pick up by the name Santa Cruz

    • @romanseano
      @romanseano 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is currently called the Santa Fe XL is a 3-row version of this that effectively replaced the Vera Cruz in 2014. For model year 2020, the Santa Fe XL will be replaced by the all-new Hyundai Palisade.

    Hi Lauren, how about the braking/stopping ability, and how it merges (pickup power) on the highway. I have an interest in this vehicle, but need more information on that. Awesome review.

    • @CarCoachReports
      @CarCoachReports  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Don Campbell The brakes on the new Audi's are larger, and the pick up power is excellent due to new turbo chargers and superchargers; depending upon which engine. I own a naturally aspirated vehicle which I love, 3.0 supercharged one and also a 2 L turbo engine. I wish the 2 L had more pick up, but it's meant to be more fuel-efficient.
