OMG!! It worked! At first we just touched the +/- and it didn't do anything. So, we held it on the contacts for about 5 seconds and it sparked! Yeah - but it still wouldn't take a charge. The next day I zapped it again and it still wouldn't take a charge so I decided to do a re-sync on my camera. It's working great - shows 100% charged!! Thank you!!!!!
Thank you! I used one of those small, portable jumpstart battery packs and although I didn't hear it "spark" I got my Arlo batteries revived after a few rounds of 20-30 seconds!
Thanks for the tip. I did what you subscriped and it worked. After I gave the battery a shock I did't notice anything. When I plug the Camara in the charger and sink the base station and the camera it started blinking blue and amber light for most of the night. Someone said it looked like the camera was getting a firmware update. By the next morning the camera was fully charged solid blue light. It worked like a charm.
Well the camera went offline. When I checked the camera it was blinking blue & amber. Don’t know if it will come back on. I have the camera charging to see if will help. Will keep you posted.
The camera came on again but it looks to me I will still need another battery because this one can’t hold the charge without being hooked up to the charger.
Man this video saved me! I made two jumpers coming off my 20v drill battery while holding on the Arlo battery for 30 seconds then rest (5 times) and sure thing… Arlo is charging now! Thanks!
I am having trouble prying, the battery itself apart to get the white cap off the back so I can get started. It would’ve been a nice to show how you got in there. I’m trying to stick a screwdriver a small one in the crack to prior apart and it’s still not working. Any suggestions?
Most people are unaware the voltage required to charge an Arlo battery is 9 Volts, battery nominal vontage 7.4 volts. Only use the power adaptor blocks that came with the cameras. Plugging the camera to a regular USB only 5 Volts will be available and is insuficient to charge the Arlo battery and under charge will eventually kill the Arlo batteries. Another caution, most devices have overvoltage protection but as a caution do not charge other devices with the Arlo power blocks due to higher voltages than a regular common USB charger.
I have the same question. Since a regular charging block can do 5 or 9, and that isn't enough to wake it up, I'm thinking the charger should be set to 12V.
I have a 6V/12V Black & Decker car charger that I'd like to try this with, but is there any risk of explosion? I'm kind of nervous since the battery is meant to be charged at 5 or 9V.
Here's a crazy question from a "non-elecrically minded" dude... If I don't have a 12 v battery charger handy, can I use a new and charged up 18v battery from my cordless drill to "jumpstart" my dead Arlo battery?
No that's not how it works. When the battery is completely dead the charger can't "read" the charge of the battery. It's almost as if there is no battery to the charger. It needs a "shock" to give it enough of a reading so the charger will "recognize" there is a battery there to charge.
@@fixinstuff4374 Well, the blue light stays on while the charger is plugged in but after a few days there’s still no charge and I’m not able to view it on the app.
@@annabellejonesify ; I think you could, BUT remove both cables from your car. You dont want to keep car connected while you do that. Thats especially true for newer cars.

What do you mean by a re-synch on your camera?
@@dlemos5567 Hold down the sync button on the camera for 15 seconds.
It works!!! Once again the University of TH-cam doesn’t disappoint, thank you!!!!!!!
Man, you really saved me from buying another battery. You deserve a billion views and all the best, THANK YOU!!!
Any advice on troubleshooting an Arlo essential camera that won’t charge…battery is integrated into the camera.
Trying this right now on one of my Arlo batts and it's taking a charge. Outstanding!!!
Excellent....gone in circles for hours with Arlo's instructions of plug and unplug!

Thank you!! It worked..was getting so frustrated with an old battery that wouldn't charge.
Good video. I done this before on a paslode battery 🔋 that it wasn’t charging but after i did that it’s like a new battery. Thanks man

Mine didn’t come with blocks, just a cable 😢
That depends on the Arlo model. Some models like the Ultra charge on 5V.
My Arlo xl has three batteries that aren't in the block and I'm wondering if I can use a battery maintainer to get it going.
Hi .. ru touching the positive and negative Clamp as well when touching the arlo battery terminals
Can I use my motorcycle battery tender? They are little jumper cables
How much volt should i use 12V or 6V?

how you figured the polarity? which postive or negaitive just curious
What is the current on this appication?
Thank you for your help . This works great !
can you charge with car battery ? I do not charger electric car charger
Awesome!!! Worked like you said it would
Having same issue, trying this! Thank you!
Wow it works
Thanks a million

That could maybe do it
Mine charges but wont go beyond 15% charge. Its been connected to the charger over night.
@@Mrnw10 yep thats bad battery cells. That's a bad battery.
Awesome! Thank you
Awesome, this works! Thanks for sharing this info- so helpful!
One worked the other ones I keep trying but nothing
That makes no sense at the end when you say speaker wire and it needing a jolt of voltage because it gets its jolt when you plug it to a charger.

I’ll try it from the car battery in my vehicle since I have no battery booster like the one in this video.
