    So what you're saying if you want a camera that detects when your HOA drives by or a person is tampering with your car, you want a wired camera or add a charging cord to the battery that you can plug in to get continuous energy to it. Orlo sells such an all-weather outdoor charging cord for the Essential outdoor applications. For my front door, the doorbell cam will face the opposite wall so just people activity coming to my door like solicitors I don't want to open my door to or Amazon deliveries, etc will be picked up and the battery will work just fine.

    Nice video and very well explained; thank you. Do you know how to disable the spotlight on the wireless home essential spotlight cameras? I actually bought them for the interior of my home and the spotlight is annoying. 😅

    • @laqintin2
      @laqintin2  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1: Select the camera and go to the setting s for that camera (looks something like a gear)
      2. Scroll down to “video settings” and tap on that.
      3. Scroll down to “low light settings”
      4. There should be 2 options. One for spotlight, the other for night vision.
      5. Turn off the the spot light there

      If just means that you need constant recording, then you need to buy a camera that has a continuous source of power as in not wireless. Arlo has an outside weatherproof charging chord with a plug so you can convert to continuous charging by connecting it to an outlet say in your garage by feeding it through your facia vent system into your garage. Or have it professionally wired to electricity through your outside vents into your attic space. You need to buy the right camera based on the application you put it in. There are many types of cameras out there and you can't get it all in one unless you go for a more professional setup. Wiring to your doorbell is probably your cheapest camera with the capability to be wired to your present doorbell and needs no batteries and will work continuously, But if your doorbell is like mine and faces the other entry wall and not forward, you will get side views, but the upside is it should not waste battery life because it doesn't face the street too, You need to think it through so you get the right fit for your situation, Do you want to get up on ladders to change batteries or replace them constantly?

    Bro can you explain how Color works at night? Does the spotlight have to be on to get Color? Or do you have the option to run color without spotlight?

    • @laqintin2
      @laqintin2  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure!. So the color night vision feature does function properly with the spotlight. Without the spot light the color will not appear at night. I, myself do not have the color night vision turned on so that the camera won’t be noticeable in case someone tries to do anything, the spotlight won’t scare them away.

    • @deedemarest443
      @deedemarest443 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The spotlight is to allow the camera to record video in the dark, you can turn it off if you have enough outdoor light as in front porch garage lights or street lights. On the mini blink camera, you can turn off just the LED red light on the camera so people don't see it and spook them for nighttime, but still have it record, So, if you have sufficient light, turn off that feature unless you just want to scare people away!

    I'm not so sure though. I'll re-check this theory out but as far as I understand things to work the Smart Notifications work and process on the SERVER side. That means, if your Arlo is triggered by wind or whatever, the camera is still "working" to collect and send the video feed to the Arlo servers. Or in other words, it's still going to burn batteries. The only thing that happens is that you get less notifications on your phone or less video recordings which give the illusion of the camera not doing anything and saving power, but not so. On the server side, that's where "vehicles" are separated from "animals", etc., and where a decision is made based on the user's settings to notify based upon what it thinks it sees (or not notify if that's what the setting is). To my understanding the only true thing you can do to reduce battery usage is to adjust sensitivity on the cameras themselves. But, I'll check this out.

    • @deedemarest443
      @deedemarest443 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Movement (pixilation changes) vs Heat sensor and sensitivity settings you say are not actually part of the operation of the camera, it's also possible to restrict the area the camera picks up to record in the camera's settings. When I adjust my camera settings in the app it communicates with the camera to not do things. The whole point is to save on battery life. Your trying to say the video is edited on the server, so you see just what you want to instead of the camera not recording based on it's settings, That would be a really big lawsuit by now for misrepresentation to consumers, you think!

    • @davethewebguy
      @davethewebguy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@deedemarest443 - No, I'm saying the video is *analyzed* on the server. No matter what zones get selected on the camera, it busies the camera, sends the video to Arlo's server, and if, on that server, activity conforms to that type of activity you opted to be notified of and/or record, it does so. But the point is, the camera always triggers (based on sensitivity - it does honor that at the camera level) , always collects video, and is forever sending data to Arlo's servers. There's nothing in the camera to regulate against that whatsoever and so detection zones don't by themselves extend battery life.

    Please buy one of these cameras if you want to waste $130. What I mean by that is they are junk. Constantly buffering. Video playback does not work. Batteries are non-replaceable and they last about a year then you need to throw it away. This company should be out of business

    • @laqintin2
      @laqintin2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m sorry you feel that way. The buffering has to be a an internet speed issue because my live feed only takes about 5 -8 seconds. I will agree that playback needs a little work because it takes a few mins for the recording to load to the library. This specific model does come with an internal battery but they do make higher end cameras that have a external battery. I’ve had my cameras for about a year and the battery life works just fine. Hope you find the camera that best fits your needs. Thanks again

    • @greggminkoff6733

      The problem lies with your internet. You don't have enough broadband to support your camera. I run 6 cameras without a problem because I opted for high-speed.

      wireless is not good for heavily trafficked areas that's all there is to it, cameras require a lot of battery to operate, just as your smartphone does. You are provided features to turn off features to reduce battery consumption, but if your camera is picking up traffic constantly, the battery will drain quickly. Think of using one that you can connect a cord and plug in or wire into your existing home electricity or use solar energy, Why are people complaining about buying a product that is not a good fit for their application,
