I love this backpack! I traveled to Asia twice for a month with only this backpack! I could live for a month out of it. No need to check in luggage at the airport. So convenient!
The colours aren't the only difference between the Farpoint and the Fairview. The fairview has more contoured, thicker straps to help with chest support and it's shorter, supporting shorter torsos.
I have an osprey kestrel 48 top loading back pack. It’s a drag having to dig out and find my stuff even with packing cubes. That clamshell zipper is cool and convenient. I might look into this pack in the future
Check out the Allpa 42L, it is a great alternative and has better compartmentalization. On the other side the Farpoint 40 does a better job with padding, ventilation, and composition of back shoulder straps and hip belts.
I just bought this bag and I am suprise how thin the material is and also the shoulder strap is not as sturdy as expected it to be so I was wondering about the longivity of this bag. I have Osprey Atmos 35 and the build quality is so much better than this and I had it for 15 years, and there is no major wear and tear so far.
@DJ Ness idk if you've found your answer already, but this bag wouldn't fit under your seat. It's considered a "carry-on", therefore it would go in the overhead. Typically only a "personal item", like a small backpack or crossbody bag would go under the seat. Hope this helps and you're able to travel the world! 😊
Even though it's still a bit far away, I'm wondering if I should get the 40 liter or 55 liter packbag, because first I'm going interrailing for a month but the next year I plan on leaving for a year to be an au pair. The 55 could be too much for a month but the 40 could be too little for a year
Hmmm...I am debating comfort of Peak Design 30-35-45L (4.5 lbs and $300) vs Farpoint 40L ($100-ish?). I have a 15" laptop (4 lbs). Would it be difficult to put a laptop sleeve near frame of the Farpoint? Will you need to remove all your clothes...😜
hey! I'm thinking of getting the same backpack and I was wondering what's your height? I'm like 160cm and I was wondering if the S/M size is suitable for me?
I have the M/L version of this bag, i'm just about to go off on a 9 months trip across Asia. Just worried about it not complying with the cabin luggage size restrictions. Have you ever had any problems in the past before with dimensions?
How tall are you? Im looking for a carry to take with me while backpacking but am on the shorter side so trying to figure out if this will work for me! x
Weird question: how tall are you? & how much do you weigh? (If you don’t mind). I have been searching for a backpack that will fit everything for my southeast asia trip but I don’t wanna look like Im carrying a house my my back.
i think you music was way loud and your audio too poor. if you can’t get a better mic, could you get closer to your camera? i haven’t seen much of your videos though so you might already have changed it 😬😬
Wanted a female using this same backpack, but the music was so annoying and made what was being said tough to pay attention to. If there is a version without music, I'd listen.
Please share your backpacking experiences with me!!
The difference between the "Men's" and "Women's" version is not just the color. The shoulder straps are different, in a lower position for the ladies.
Interesting. Thanks.
The contour of the shoulder straps is different, too. Taking breasts into consideration. The hip belt, as well. With female anatomy in mind.
And the capacity. The Fairview 40 is actually only 38L big

I have the Fairview 40 and I absolutly LOVE it!!! Travelling carry-on only has changed my life!
I'm convinced that the Farpoint 40 is one of the best backpacks I've ever invested in. Still looks like new after taking it around the world :)
Thanks for making this video. I found the background music too loud to hear you properly though.
Me too. Annoying.

Ya Fairview dimensions are 21.3H X 13.8W X 9D IN and Farpoint is 20H x 14W x 8D IN. Close but an inch shorter.

Thanks for this! Heading to Asia soon with the osprey porter and this gave a good run down on amounts of clothes to Bring. Hope you had a great trip!
The backpack looks a little bit greenish on the oitside, is that true? I like that! In wich colour did you order it??

My Favourite-Travelbackpack ist the Forclaz 40L from Decathlon! 😊

I really liked the overview of the bag but the music in the background was very distracting and sometimes made it difficult to hear you clearly.
just bought mine for my 3 month Europe backpacking trip, such a great price.... i will have a full frame canon dslr

in that case, i'd suggest you get the 55!! it comes with a detachable day pack which i think is so great! multiple purposes with just 1 bag!
Thanks for your detailed video, it helped me decide!
I was on the fence on what backpack to buy so thank you for your video!!
Also where did you get your t-shirt?
Aw glad you found it helpful!!
My t-shirt is super old..... Think it was from h&m or Costa Blanca (closed down now haha)
Really like your review! One question though: How many models are there of the Farpoint 40? Yours is the 2017 model, do they update them each year?
There's updated 2023 model.

Nice review. I just bought a OSPREY FARPOINT 70L.
Nice Video. Do you use it on flights as carry-on? I would be a be scarred to have my Laptop in the Front!
Yes I do!
hey! I'm thinking of getting the same backpack and I was wondering what's your height? I'm like 160cm and I was wondering if the S/M size is suitable for me?
I'm 152cm hahah. the dimension of the bag is 20H X 14W X 8D IN if that helps!
There is an app by Osprey, that measures your torso, to tell you which size you should take.
Great product review! I love your style. All the best.
Do you prefer this one or Kelty Redwing?
Hi Delia. Did you attach an attack backpack to that clip that comes in the backpack strap? If so, which model did you use? Thanks
No I did not, sorry!
I have the M/L version of this bag, i'm just about to go off on a 9 months trip across Asia. Just worried about it not complying with the cabin luggage size restrictions. Have you ever had any problems in the past before with dimensions?
I have not! But it's best to check with the airline
How tall are you? Im looking for a carry to take with me while backpacking but am on the shorter side so trying to figure out if this will work for me! x
I’m 5ft 😅
@@DeliaX Same! Im struggling to decide which bag I want to go after but am considering the Fairview 40 as thats more tailored towards women!
Weird question: how tall are you? & how much do you weigh? (If you don’t mind). I have been searching for a backpack that will fit everything for my southeast asia trip but I don’t wanna look like Im carrying a house my my back.
HAHA I def looked like I was carrying a house on my back!! I'm 5' and quite small!
YOUREEEE BAAACKKKKK 😍🥰
YEEEES ;)
Does it fit as personal item with airlines? Not talking about carry on.
I think that would depend on your airline! Best to check with them specifically :)
Love the video!
yay, thank you for doing the video!
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching :)
What size did you get? I'm 5.3and seems like you are about my size.
40L
its ok, for 14 days hot weather trip? or i should get the bigger one.
I think so! I mean I went on a 5 week trip
Is that a medium large?
Do you check that or is it a carry on
carry on!
Nice
Depends where you are flying. Would be checked from Australia
i think you music was way loud and your audio too poor. if you can’t get a better mic, could you get closer to your camera? i haven’t seen much of your videos though so you might already have changed it 😬😬
i assume u have to putnit in the overhead vs under seat
That's right, it's like a "suitcase"
Thanks for this review 😊
Thanks for watching! :)

Looks nice. Gotta check that out.
