My grandpa bought me a slot car set when I was maybe 10. 12 years have passed. He's been gone for 4 years now and I just was in happy lobby with my girlfriend and I got a track and we both got 2 different cars. We both spent 3 hours playing with them and now I have a new love for this hobby and I feel alot better about life knowing my grandpa is the reason I even stopped my girlfriends craft supplies trip to look at the set and ended up buying it. Honestly the most fun I have had in a long time. I just wanted to share
Beautiful story. I’m sure your grandpa is smiling down on you and your girlfriend. I got my first set in the 60’s for Christmas and have been enjoying the hobby ever since. It’s funny whenever my wife and I go to hobby lobby I sneak off the racing section to see what’s new. She always knows where to find me! By the way eBay has a lot of slot cars and accessories too. Enjoyed your story. Keep on racing !
Thanks to share this vid. I am an old HO entusiast since the mid 60s when my father gave to me a four lane Aurora slot car kit. I still have a color picture with this event on Christmas. Good memories. Greetings from Brasil.
Have a big 1/32 analog NINCO set that has grown over the 25 years..Waitng for my first HO set Autoworld figure 8 to come .My last set was in 1975 Christmas present when i was 10 years old. Will set it up inside my larger 1/32 floor set
Cool Video! I bought the Scooby-Doo/Batman Set last year, mostly for the Blue Cartoon Batmobile. There is a problem with the Front of the Box. It says the Mystery Machine is a Flamethrower & has lights on it, but it didn't have lights. But both cars are 4 Gears cause of the Loop, Extraction Cars are the Only Flamethrowers. I called both PTT & AW to let them know. AW just Shrudded me off! I might put a Led Light in it later on.
I started with a Aurora set for Christmas in 68, i stayed in the hobby thru high school, and left it behind when I went in the military, i got into 1/32 scale a few years ago but i am longing for a HO set to race on for something different, it will be AFX for sure I don't care for the look of the AW cars, plus I want to get some of the old can-am from my youth
Thats the same story to Slot Car glory I hear all the time, me included. Welcome to Slot Valley Racing. If there is something you need or are not sure of before you buy please let me know. I also have a Ebay store AFX_man
When I came back to the hobby a few years ago it surprised me how little everything changed from when I was a kid. No track improvements since the 1960s. LOve the racing action!
Nice track's I would think for benners!don't have room for victory 400, , real sweet car's. I run a 1971 JACKIE STEWART. HIGH SPEED TRACK! DIFFERANT POWER SUPPLY, AND DIFERANT CONTROLLER S ADJUSTABLE POWER! NEW KID ON THE BLOCK! THUMS UP AND SUBSCRIBER! EAGLE RACEWAY !
Have purchased a half dozen AFX Super International sets over the years. When they were Super G+ and then original Mega G. Those were a real bargain. But now that it's Mega G+ I wouldn't buy one at all. The sheer amount of stuff you get is tempting but when you think about it, it really isn't great. On the positive side you get 2 nice power packs, lots of 15 inch straights and a few larger radius curves. On the negative you get 4 junk controllers that only work properly with Mega G+ cars, 28 pieces of 6 inch radius 1/8 circle curves that are problematic, guardrails that are probably the least desirable of all that are available and of course 4 Mega G+ cars. I keep hearing people say the cars alone are worth the price of the set. Sure in fantasy land. There's a ton of those on the "market" and the brand new cars are barely worth $30 apiece. Just because someone has them for sale at a higher price or someone who didn't know better paid more just doesn't mean much. So as much as I don't like saying it, I think a beginner would be better off with one of the 4 lane sets from Autoworld and preferably from a local retailer so if there's a problem they can likely get it taken care of pretty easily. Likewise one could buy from a REPUTABLE online dealer like ProTinker Toys or RC Superstore. It just seems clear to me going the MG+ route is a mistake, especially for beginners.
