watching in 2023. I ruined my elbow playing to metronomes, etc. I hope this helps. I'm going to try lightening up on pressure holding the pick. Thank you.

I learned to loosen up early on. A lot of new guitar players like medium picks, I found I liked thicker picks up to 1mm within the first year of playing and I still get a more open, fluid sound than many who play with mediums. This isn't a humble brag or hipster thing, just corroborating what Kenny was talking about. It seems counter-intuitive, but it works so much better. You get more control, don't have to tighten up your core to try and control your arm flailing, and you lose less picks inside the guitar. now...if only I could play half as good as Kenny. 😁

Very nice Kenny.. is that your 35 D18? What strings did you have on her here? What pick and thickness is that you are using? Great tone.

Looks like a Blue Chip. Triangle. So maybe a TP or a TAP. Not sure of thickness. Strings look more silver so I am thinking Monel, but I would like to know also. Guitar has great tone.

Kenny has his own signature BlueChip pick KS40, 50, and 60, I also wonder which of these he prefers. He shares about the strings he uses in one of his other videos. I was wondering the same thing 😊. I was able to meet Kenny and his wife Amanda at a local Bluegrass festival a few years ago, wonderful musicians and really nice folk th-cam.com/video/9gtIPGvlwso/w-d-xo.html

The elbow thing is wasted motion when you can get the same result with wrist motion.
    That’s how I play.

But when you're picking fast, it's far less tiring to use the large arm muscles and whole forearm, rather than small wrist and forearm muscles. That's what Sullivan Tuttle of AJ Lee and Blue summit explains, and boy can he pick fast!

Good luck flatpicking fast for any length of time just with wrist motion though. Very tiring.

I think he uses a blue Chip pick. Maybe a 45 or 50. I like the blue Chip 40.

His signature pick is a Blue Chip KS 40.
