Do you use the floating style in your own playing? Want to see more lessons on this technique? Let me know below!

Hayes, this sounds great. I have noticed times when an adjacent open string works, but haven't shedded this technique a lot around the 7th fret. Jerry Reed did this to good effect, as I'm sure others have as well. It is a bit counter intuitive with the lows, and highs switching positions. Can't over think it, just play! Aside; I can't say enough how helpful the diligent down up picking has been for me. Just liberating. Exaggerating, upstroke escape, angling. It is fairly natural now, and I don't get lost, or stuck nearly as much. Many thanks, Jim.

This is definitely my favorite lesson from the Guitar Club so far! Having the tabs and backing tracks has really been helping to learn this one. Would love to see more "intermediate/advanced" lessons like this one. Great work as always.

This is excellent. Great introduction to the concept of this style. Also, I love the sound of that guitar: clear, warm, balanced.

Really beautiful - I like the slower tempo to appreciate & allows for the interaction of the frequencies. Thank you, Hayes!

@@HayesGriffin I'm impressed with your work... I know it can be difficult making a living and music as I was involved mid 80s and 90s... Only a few of my fellows were very successful.

@@keyscook it can be rough out there! I spent about 7 years touring, but I'm feeling good about where I've landed these days with my current balance of teaching, video production, and gigging. Spreading my eggs in a few different baskets helped make life a little more stable.

I'm really grateful for this lesson. I have been playing this tune for a while and this is a great way for me to add some variation to it.
