    I just installed a DTuna on my red 1984 Kramer 2 weeks ago. I decked the Floyd. Easy installation, did exactly what you did in your video, I ended up using the shorter screw provided though. Love your new outrow!! Ranch 5150 Skinwalker! 😁 I knew what it was when I saw the wolf! Rock on Marty!

      It all comes down to where that string is intonated. On all my guitars, the low E is intonated pretty far back, so i imagine most people will use the short screw.

    I put one on my Floating Jackson with a licensed FLoyd, but blocked the trem first. You can put them on a non-decked Floyd, providing you block it from going up.

    I believe the proper way to tune with a D-Tuna is tune the low E to D (or hole step down) with the slide out, then push it in and fine tune with the small allen to standard.🤘😎🎸

      @DeputyVanHalen5150 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @theophany1770 Those MW Signatures are unbelievable! Congrats on owning that! I'm pretty sure that they have a floating Floyd so you'd have to throw on a dive only trem stopper ($14 item) for the D-Tuna to work without throwing your other strings out of tune. You'd have to make sure that you have the clearance on the body also to support the D-Tuna mechanism. Cool axe!

      Yeah it's awesome! Love Queensryche, 1991 show was amazing. You're right, it's a full floater so I'll be blocking it. Never done it but I've watched a few vids, doesn't seem too hard. Thanks for advice!@@DeputyVanHalen5150

    I've had Floyds since the 80's with no issues, what so ever. any thoughts on getting titanium blocks? or if I have no issues is it a waste of money?

    • @Ranch5150SkinWalker
      @Ranch5150SkinWalker  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's a solid upgrade. They say more sustain. I kinda believe it's snake oil lol. I do know upgrades to the screws and stuff made with titanium is smart since they last longer and get tooled often.

      @DeputyVanHalen5150 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @geoffreylowery9730 Check the screw and make sure that there are no burs on it, that can cause it to catch. If there are, just remove the screw and hit it with light sandpaper til it's smooth. Then try reinstalling it. Make sure your Floyd's fine tuner is backed off all of the way up. Also try pushing down the little metal tab under that low E underneath to add a little relief. I sometimes push the whammy bar down a bit too when engaging and disengaging the D-Tuna. 👍🏻

    Great vid, Marty! I've got a Special. And (2) Standards. None of them have the D-Tuna. Thinking about maybe throwing one on one of the guitars. I hear they cause some tuning stability. So I'm not sure. But it might be cool to have one on at least one of the guitars. If I really dig it... maybe I'll do it on all of them.

    I bought one for my Kramer about a year ago, and it’s been on my coffee table, in my lounge, as a reminder ever since. I just haven’t had the confidence to install it myself, so this video helps a lot. I also bought a trem block to stop the Floyd from floating, and I will install this first.
    A stupid question. So the standard fine tuning screw doesn’t get used at all anymore. Just the fine tuner on the d-tuna?
    Thank you.

    Marty! I dont have the tension spring on E, as you have it and D tuna doesnt seem to sit nicely when i switch to D. Do you have any advice? because there is no tension spring, when i pull out the d tuna, there is aditional movement involved by pulling it out and outwards so it can rest on the screw. I think it is easier with tension spring.

    Hi Marty, this of the D-Tuna is not a clear argument for me: are there EVH songs which needs a different tuning to be changed "on the fly" on the 6th string? I think this could be a "stupid" question for many of the channel audience (i apologize with the other guys if it is...) but I am not aware about this topic. Thanks for the video! And sorry for my english...

    • @DeputyVanHalen5150
      @DeputyVanHalen5150 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @lore5363 I have a D-Tuna on both of my Floyd Rose guitars. If your playing Van Halen songs Unchanged and Hear About it Later are a couple of songs that come to my mind right of off the bat. They use drop D tuning on the low E string. When your tuning is locked up by the locking nut it's so easy to pull the D-Tuna for D tuning and pop it right back to go back to E. So for $35 it's a must have for me. Just make sure that you have a non floating Floyd by decking it or using a trem stop. 👍🏻

    I don't really like EVH (the man) or his music, but at the same time I respect his talent and his musical legacy. I like the idea of a guitar he designed - but I HATE that he named it after his son. The fact that I would think of the man Wolfgang Van Halen every time I saw the guitar, would make me resent owning it.
    Not just because Wolfgang is very unhealthy and un-photogenic, but because he has no significant musical reputation, other than being the son of EVH who got forced into the band, kicking out the bassist, on that final tour.
    So to me, the name "Wolfgang" represents everything bad about EVH's legacy, the public disintegration of his reputation, etc.
    But it seems like this is no problem for the EVH superfans.
