the audience was told these people were terminally ill and it was a Make-a-Wish type thing, so the audience thought they were encouraging people who needed it
love this show, this was so fucking evil but yet so frikin funny at the same time Briggs & Co are amazing in the fact they could do this without cracking up. the audience is not laughing because they were told the singers all had illnesses apparently just cruel lol

Because the winning conditions required the person not only be bad at singing, but also be blindly arrogant and lacking self-awareness. Mario demonstrates moments of humility, whereas Jamie is airheaded and totally arrogant in her abilities or lack thereof.
