Checking vrrp on new vendor's routers, needed some quick explanation. It was really useful 20 minutes. Thanks!

This makes a lot of sense. I'm planning a network with dual wan, but only one cable is provided per wan. How would I connect these to the vrrp setup?

Hi, thank you. If you want to setup VRRP, your redundant connections are each WAN connection. Connect each one to a routing device.

hi i have about 10 vlans in my network. do i need to make different vrrp groups for each vlan or can i just all group them in 1 vrrp group? which is better ? thanks!

Hi. You do not need to configure a different
group for each VLAN, you can put them all in one group if you want to. Which is better is up to your network needs. Having one group is simpler to configure and is less resource intensive
but providing multiple groups or one group per VLAN provides better redundancy and load balancing.

    When I do following command:
    R1 (config)# interface gig 0/1
    R1 (config-if)# vrrp 1 ip 192.168.1.100
    I get the following error
Invalid input detected at '^' marker
The ^ symbol is underneath v of vrrp command

Check to see if your device/IOS supports vrrp. You could check your device/IOS capabilities on cisco.com, but the easiest way is probably to just type v? in the interface configuration. If you do that and vrrp isn't an option then your IOS doesn't support vrrp.

Hi Yousuf, thanks for the comment, what would you like to know? Are you requesting a video showing that config?
