The Legend: Buell S1 Lightning - powercruising with trailbraking -

  • Short ride with a 1998 Buell S1 Lightning. Engine is still stock, rear damper ist the original White Power version, for which I was able to find the right suspension settings before giving it up. This is not full throttle, because it was 30 Degrees C in the mountains and I only wanted to show how great this bike is in powercruising and handling. That´s what they were made for, I believe. I also tested my Buell XB12 on the same roads and under the same conditions, but I can admit that the S1 is the better powercruiser with its 170 rear tire and the mountain of punch with such less rpm as possible. I´m still using the stock CV Carburetor, and the throttlecontrol is perfectly. The Buell S1 is a legend.

I just got back from Deal's Gap (on my Buell XB9SX) and your video reminds me of that experience. Thanks for sharing it!

@@instrukta That big bore bike looks like a beast! Love it. I have a 98s1 orange and nuclear blue, black 09 xb12s and 2015 EBR 1190sx. Both have Dean Adams exhaust. Going to do some head work and cams to the 09. Buddy has an 05 xb12s with ported heads, stock back cut valves, NHRS cat 3 cams and NHRS 10.5to1 1250 kit. Its fookin rips!

@@fvgc454ss this one is not the 1430 of my buddy which I tested in the other video, this is my S1 with a stock engine. On my channel you can also find my testride of the 1190rs from 2012.

I tried to ride very disciplined while filming, because I only wanted to show the relaxed riding style with the Buell S1. Not full throttle, not High Speed, no Battles. Let them go, I know I could if I really wanted. ;-)

Hi there . . . . enjoyed the video. Were is this piece of road?? In the States I presume. I haven't had a bike for quite a few years now but am working towards a Buell. Had a m8 leave his Cyclone with me for a month awhile back & I made full use of it. (Insert emojis of big smiles & thumbs up My entire bike riding life was spent on British - Triumphs & a couple of Beezas but for the price of a 1969 -70 era one (if ya can find one even half pie original) I can source & import a Buell from the US. That's the plan anyhow - either a tuber or an XB.
For now, until I scrap the $$$ together, I'll have to sustain myself with watching your (& other peoples) onboard vids. Cheers.
