She said in Chinese (Mandarin): "General, I am on the American side. General, your wife sent me a message in my dream. You should show courage to help save the world. War does not make heroes. In war, there are no winners, there are only widows. »
I don't see anyone else mentioning this bit of "trivia" so I will: In the movie they don't give subs to translate what she's saying on the phone to the Chinese general as she repeats what he said in the future. They just let anyone that doesn't know Mandarin think that it's something private that no one else would know but the couple. But that isn't strictly true. What the general's wife said just before she died was a quote from a long ago philosopher as a reminder to him to not let his job completely take over his common sense after she was gone. She said "In war there are no winners, only widows & orphans." So when the general hears a stranger's voice asking for him to listen & she says that quote, it triggers both emotion & logic, not just emotion. He realizes she's saying that he's made an error in his logic concerning the aliens, an error that will only lead to everyone losing. Plus then he realizes that hey, that stranger called me from a number that tracks to the US & said something that means a lot to me personally & the only way for that to happen is if there's something else going on I don't understand. Maybe I should talk with my interpreter again, maybe I shouldn't go shoot missiles at the aliens & start a war unless I really have 100% certainty they mean us harm. 😯🤔
YES, thank you so much for that, Tamara!! I'm so happy you were able to point that out! I was talking about Louise and the fact that she told the Chinese General about his own wife's last words in my "Afterthoughts" video, but I could never have known what you just wrote. That makes a lot of sense and I love it! Thanks for that and thanks for watching. (:
An important clue that most don't remember is that when Ian and Loise first meet, he quotes a line from her book back to her. "LANGUAGE is the first WEAPON both sides draw in a war."
Yes, I do remember that. It's easy to miss with all the helicopter noise, but I clearly remember it because of the editing. Thanks for watching! We appreciate it! (:
And the opening monologue basically gives away the twist (once you know it). “Memory is a strange thing. It doesn’t work like I thought it did. _We are so bound by time, by its order._ “
Great reaction! The choice she made was to have Hannah, knowing she would get sick and pass. It's the reason he leaves. ""Daddy doesn't look at me the same way", is because he knows what's going to happen to his little girl. 😢
Hi Christine, yes, you're 100% correct. I elaborated on that a little more in my "Afterthoughts" video, but you're correct! I first thought the girl said "Daddy doesn't want to see me anymore" and only when I edited the video did I understand the line correctly, which makes much more sense. It's all clear now! What a great movie. Thanks for watching and commenting! (:
I love this movie. In many movies, knowing the plot twist takes away some of the impact for when you rewatch it. In this movie, knowing the plot twist adds to the impact.
I think its just as simple as "mommy told me the story about her and daddy speaking to these strange black tentacle looking animals and so i made it out of playdough for my school project" (which she mentioned)@@BossMovieReactions
@@nessmain6411I think it's even Simpler than that - the Heptapods are a Huge part of history, they're not Secret by any means. Part of the message of the film was Everyone(human And alien alike)coming together and they even noted that the Heptapods had their own flag now. I'm willing to bet there are Heptapod plushies, emojis and happy meal toys. Not only did China stand down, they were the first ones to actually embrace the Zero Sum Game, as the news report mentions that China will share all their info, which Heavily implies(if not out right states) that the rest of the world followed right after. The Heptapods came in peace and brought the mankind together - it would not surprise me if all the nations interactions with the Heptapods are "now" available on TH-cam for the world to see
I believe Louise's ability to perceive her life in a non-linear fashion allows her a significant advantage over Ian in terms of dealing with their daughter's illness and death. For Ian, perceiving time in a linear fashion, Hannah's life starts out representing everything that is beautiful and hopeful. When she gets sick, all of that beauty and hope becomes a crushing heartbreak for him. For Louise, she can actively experience the most beautiful moments of her daughter's life before, during, and after Hannah's sickness. Talk about living in the moment!! Great reaction!! Subscribed!
I am so glad that you watched Arrival, my favorite film. You are right when you say that you would get new things when watching again. I've watched a lot of people react to this movie and most fear the aliens and entering the ship. We've been conditioned to expect aliens to be a threat. Many people talk about Louise having a difficult choice to have a child that won't live very long. Almost nobody picks up on Abbott making a similar sacrifice to come to Earth knowing he'll die. The Heptapods unite Earth and save us from destroying ourselves and know they need us later. Not sure how much is a choice for anyone, but Louis does ask Ian if he would change things if he knew the future, so I suspect that choices can be made. She embraces the short time she will have with her child and knows that she can unite the world. I love the exploration of language and the strength of Louise's character. Amy Adams is so good at playing characters with a great deal of empathy and sensitivity. Thanks for watching! I second the request for more Denis Villeneuve. The challenge for your future is to make a film of this quality 😁
Hi Steve, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Yeah, you're right, many have been conditioned to expect aliens to be a threat, but I think if they had bad intentions they would get right to it and wouldn't play this game of meeting each other to converse, etc. Yes, I also agree with Louise having the child and the Heptapod making a similar sacrifice, although "we" might not really have a choice. Yes, Louise does ask Ian if he would change things if he knew the future, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he actually "could", but again, that's the "Chicken and Egg" thing. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting, and yes, the challenge is to make quality films like that! (:
I watch almost every reaction channel to see who I connect with. We are alike in so many ways and I connect with you because of it. Thanks for being great and appreciating the depth of movies and the impact they have on us. You also have the best edits on TH-cam… I am going to watch all your videos and have been sharing with my children because you don’t swear like other reaction people. Thank you!!!
Oh, one more minor thing. I believe you are missing out on the amazing sound effects by sharing an AirPod. These movies deserve the best large headphones 🎧 for both of you. I understand you need to hear each other talk … just something to think about. My home theater consists of a 135” screen, 7.2 THX sound system, 17 person tiered seating and a concession stand. The sound is the best part. Can’t wait to watch another one of your reactions today. I have watched a few of your twice already.
@@radamlee Yes, I understand your comment about the AirPod. It's not that we need to hear each other, we had problems "syncing" two different AirPods on the computer. First, it didn't work, then finally we made it work, but then suddenly it stopped again, etc. It was a mess, so we had to share it. But you're right, the soundtrack would definitely be better. Thanks for watching! (:
what blows your mind is when you realize she's not seeing the future, she is IN the future, the times we see her there, she's reacting in real time, so when she asks what day it is, it's because thats her from the past asking the question and so on :> She's now technically a 4dimensional being where their life is all a single line they can travel forward and backwards through.
I haven't read the book, but have seen a comment that in it, the daughter doesn't get a disease, but has an accident. If that's true in the book, then it sounds to me an even greater dilemma, as far as in the movie deciding to have your child knowing she will pass very young of a disease you can't stop is hard enough, but to not only have your child knowing she will pass young, but in an accident, but allowing it to occur anyway, just adds an additional pain point to it. Although if you change the future, that in turn would or could cause issue with other future events. Do you save your own, if it will lead to mass harm to many others by doing so type thing. I know the biggest pain for me is the loss of loved ones and wishing unknown harms could have been prevented, but in some cases they have been things like cancer, so even going back you probably couldn't have done anything to keep it from happening, but you might have been able to made more of the time you did have together. It's very sad though.
Happy you enjoyed it. Yes, the Prologue was the Epilogue. (: Regarding the illness, who knows, but if the daughter got sick then one could argue that Louise would've gotten sick as well, no? Anyway, thanks for watching! (:
@@KimEllis-kt8ei Yes, making MORE of the time is a very good point. Btw, I addressed the "changing the future" a little bit in my "Afterthoughts" video (th-cam.com/video/Cff1f3SeJ7M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kJu6m-rynPpbMTaP). Thanks for watching! (:
I've watched this movie about three times and I still gained even more clarity watching your reaction. Love the movie and love your reaction video! Thank you!
Another great reaction. Jess is always fun to watch and has great insight, and Mike's empathy is touching. Also, crazy Mike was in the Swiss military! An absolutely gorgeous country and certainly on my bucket list. Thanks for another good one! Can't wait to see your film project coming soon!
Thank you, Lucas. We love your kind comment! Yes, I was in the Swiss military. Grew up in Switzerland for my first 25 years! Super-gorgeous country indeed, but my heart belongs to the U.S.A. now! (:
What a lovely couple you are! And I loved your reactions. You can never go wrong with any movie that Denis Villeneuve is the director. He, and Christopher Nolan are the two best working directors today. BTW, my grandfather was born in Switzerland and came to the U.S. when he was 18 years old. I was fortunate enough to work with the Switzerland military on their ground surveillance system when I worked for Hughes Aircraft. I even drove to where my grandfather was born in Interlacken. Such a beautiful country. Continued success on your channel!
Hello Greyson, thank you so much for your kind words. Interesting that your grandfather was born in Switzerland and you went to Interlaken. Yes, a beautiful country indeed! Thanks for watching! (:
I'm pretty sure that just for a moment, sometime after they arrive at the camp, there's an instance where the leader or someone in the Chinese camp says something and I want to say Forrest Whitaker asks Louise if she speaks Mandarin and to interpret it for them. It's brief and early mid of the movie, but I think is intentional to go along with the phone call later near the end.
Yes, 100% agree! I have actually mentioned exactly that in my "Afterthoughts" video (th-cam.com/video/Cff1f3SeJ7M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kJu6m-rynPpbMTaP). Good catch and thanks for watching!
When it's said that the heptapods told the Russians, "There is no time," and everyone interprets it as a threat or a sign to hurry… and they're literally trying to say that time doesn't exist to them
There have been a few times watching your reactions where the movie's audio scared the crap out of me because it sounds exactly like I'm in the movie theater when listening on my AirPods Max or my studio sound system. Theater experience + YT reaction = mind blown
Hi Noonian, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, especially regarding the audio. It indeed takes a lot of time to get the audio as good as possible. The major problem, of course, is that the dialogue and sound effects are all "baked" into the same track and can't be separated, so every time I cut, I have to try to blend the audio track to avoid choppiness. Also, often we can't use too much audio because of the copyright claims. I'm definitely investing a lot of time trying to deliver the best product we can. Thanks again for noticing, your kind words, and thanks for watching! (:
Great Reaction again Guys ! - To risk someone having already let you know in the comments, I'll say it anyway. The thing that Louise chose to do, was to fall pregnant & have Hannah, her daughter, even still knowing that she wouldn't grow up into adulthood, & would pass away from a really rare disease. 😓She did it all the same, because she wanted to have the experience of raising a Child & loving daughter. Her husband left her because she went ahead with the birth, even knowing what was to come. "It's my fault, I know something that's going to happen, & when I told your Daddy he got really mad, & he said that I made the wrong choice." 💞
@@BossMovieReactions The question that she answered wrong was literally the last two lines in the movie... Ian: "Do you want to make a baby?" Her response: "yeah... yes"
A lot of people don't understand that she is so calm and goes about her day because she already knows this and knows that nothing happens, everything is ok, she just doesn't know it yet. They think that she is like that because she is sad about her daughter, but that is so far gone and she knows the present and past at the same time already, again she just doesn't know it yet in this time table. Does that make sense? And then throughout the "meeting" they are welcomed into the ship and both of the aliens come forward because they are excited to see her again and exchange what they needed to, but again, she knows this but she doesn't understand this, so they go through the process AGAIN. This Is happening, this HAS happened, it is GOING TO happen, and WILL never not happen throughout the circle of time. No matter what, it will not happen any other way because of the mutual giving and receiving of the "weapon" at the same time. The gift from the aliens and the gift to the humans at the same time, and time DOES NOT exist. The explosion was made by the alien to finally "snap" her out and remind her. Her gift to them was maybe showing them true love and sacrifice maybe? That is why one of the aliens died, because she would have done the same and did. Thoughts?
Hi there, yes, I agree with that. Once you're able to engage in NON-LINEAR thinking and time ceases to exist, then that would most certainly give you calmness throughout your life. And yes, it IS happening, HAS happened, is GOING TO happen, and WILL never NOT happen throughout the circle of time. Haha, what a crazy thought. I also mentioned in my "Afterthoughts" video that "free will" wouldn't exist in a non-linear thinking scenario. I think her gift besides showing them love is the fact that she's going to save the Heptapods in 3000 years! The way I understood the explosion was that it was set up by humans, but the Heptapods pushed them out in order to save them, no? However, fantastic movie! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! (:
After the second time Louise sees the Heptapod writing, she has a blurry vision of herself, her daughter, and a horse. That is her first vision of the future.
What an incredible film! Denis Villeneuve filmography is amazing; I think this is my top 3 of his films. I think he is my current favorite director. His top three are very hard with Prisoners, Dune 2, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and Sicario, Incendies is also amazing but think I like the others more, but I think my top three are Prisoners, Dune 2, and Arrival. Speaking of his other films, I would love it if you guys continued watching his other films if y'all haven't watched them, like Prisoners, Sicario, or Blade Runner 2049, if you guys have watched the first one from 1982.
Hi Reynaldo, thanks for your suggestions. We haven't seen any of the movies you mentioned. If they come close to Arrival then we're in for a treat! I put them on our list. Thanks for watching! (:
Great listing! Personally, Polytechnique has a special place in my heart, since I had been accepted in mechanical engineering for the september 89 semester. I wasn't there during the shooting due to a change of orientation (actuarial mathematics), but to this day, the memory of it lives on.
Loved this with you guys. If you like non-linear, real thinker of a movie. Maybe you've seen it, you probably have. It's Nolan's first- well, technically his second film. Memento. Fascinating film, AMAZING character study on mental illness. BTW, that's something I've never seen from a reaction channel, and it's really smart, a second reaction video a few days after, and it makes SO much sense to do that. NICE! I'm excited for what comes next.
@@BossMovieReactions You're both going to love it, not only is it ripe for a "post thoughts" a few days later, it's actually worth a second watch to really appreciate it. It is not your average movie, you'll understand what I mean a few minutes into the film. Can't wait to see your reactions, guys. Where can I view your films? Are they streaming anywhere? Thanks.
@@richardadesmond Thanks, Richard. Our very first film, which we shot in twelve days for a minuscule budget of $27k is called ANONYMOUS 616 and is a psychological thriller/horror film. You can watch it on pretty much any platform, even for free if you're willing to sit through commercials. Best! (:
Hi, Red October, I'm not quite sure what you're talking about, but I think it's all there and it's all clear. Nobody has ever mentioned that "the most heartbreaking part of the whole story" was missing. Also, keep in mind that this is a reaction and most scenes get shortened by a few seconds and we're doing are best to keep the plot points, the twists and all the important moments in the film. Anyway, thanks for watching. (:
Hi Kirk, thanks for the kind words. Yes, it was quite a challenge to keep up with the film, but my mind was blown. Learned even more during editing. Thanks for the sub! (:
Another great reaction. I always get emotional when I watch most of these movies for the first time. I can see Mike get emotional at the same points and it drags it right out of me again and I get emotional over a reactor getting emotional about watching a movie 😂 Thanks!
In school I always sucked, I just didn't care, I don't know. I became an expert conniseur of japanese ancient blades and even worked for Christie's, taking part in the most expensive collection ever sold (The Walter Compton Collection). I realized I could never become a real professional without learning japanese, so I learned japanese. Then Chinese, and out of curiousity a vast number of languages from ancient greek to latin. The way of thinking of each single language i learned (being an italian native speaker) is immeasurable. In chinese you don't ask "how many people" but "how many mouths" because a person is a mouth to be fed... you undesrtand where I am going I suppose.
Only movie that has ever made me cry at the start within a few minutes and the end! great start to your reactions with movies like this. Sound track from Max Richter is epic
One of the greatest films I've ever seen. (and I've seen a LOT of films)... A few things: Louise wrote the words "it (language) is the first weapon drawn in a conflict" (on the helicopter ride, Renner's character mentioned it)... so obviously the aliens picked up on HER description to characterize the word "language" as a "weapon"... Also: I've gotten a little bit of pushback on this, but I truly believe that Louise passed down that "rare illness" to her daughter as she was exposed to the alien atmosphere... it makes sense... It's such a thoughtful, beautiful film...and you realize that the film title could be about the aliens, but more likely it involves the arrival of her daughter... and the arrival of humans being able to work with another species, as well. Wonderful reactions... and I'll mention a few films (I think I mentioned these already, but just in case)... some other brilliant films: "GRAVITY" (starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney) a brilliant space adventure, "CHILDREN OF MEN" (from the same director as "Gravity"... a jaw-dropping dystopian near future tale), "PLEASANTVILLE" (a wonderful film that starts off as a comedy, but quickly evolves into a morality tale about society), and "STRANGER THAN FICTION" (quirky, off-beat story that is absolutely delightful... but also hits you right in the feels with great performances from Will Ferrel (really!), Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Queen Latifah... one of the most underrated films I've ever seen) Cheers!
Hi John, great point about the language being a weapon. Love that observation! The illness thing could be a possibility, but we just don't know until we ask the writer, I guess. Nice take on the Arrival title as well. You mentioned a few new films that aren't on our list, so I added them. Thanks, buddy! (:
Love your reactions !!! BTW, YES, the decision she made, was to have Hannah, KNOWING she would die young, and He couldn't accept having a child, KNOWING she would die young 😶☹😢😭!!! It shows the difference in how people process heartache. Like the words from the Garth Brooks song, The Dance , which probably describes the decision they both made, better than anything 😭😭😭😭😭... [Verse 1] Lookin' back on the memory of The dance we shared, beneath the stars above For a moment all the world was right How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye [Chorus] And now, I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end, the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance [Verse 2] Holding you, I held everything For a moment, wasn't I the king But if I'd only known how the king would fall Hey, who's to say, you know I might have changed it all [Chorus] And now, I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end, the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance [Outro] Yes, my life, it's better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance

Sheesh Daddy Boss is giving hunky energy, I luv it! 🥵 EDIT: Also, idk if others mentioned it, but the US military did not leave those bombs. Radicalized soldiers did without permission as a terrorist attack attempt on the aliens. Forrest Whitaker's General character wasn't ordering the attack in that scene. He notices something is off and sends military police to investigate prior to the attack, but it's too late.
She did know Mandarin Remember there’s a scene when they have her translating the conversation between the Chinese and their heptapods and she realizes they’re using Mahjong to converse with them.
Love your reaction--thank you for dong it! One thing about the canary. It's not to check for oxygen levels per se; it's for toxic gasses in the air such as carbon dioxide, methane, etc. Birds consume air at a much faster rate than humans do. For instance, if you burn a Teflon pan, it'll kill a bird if they're too near it. Paint fumes, burning candles, and household chemicals that are in cleaning fluids like what you mop your floor with can also kill a bird, and it happens fast. Like depending on how near the kitchen the cage is, the Teflon scenario can kill a parakeet / budgie in 5-10 minutes.
Hi there, thanks for watching, and thanks for the excellent clarification regarding the canary. Very insightful. Thanks, we appreciate it! And I love your kitty icon! (:
This is one of the few regrets I never saw in the cinema... Perhaps one of the most beautiful films that I go back to, must have seen it a dozen times :-) The story-telling is magnificent and I love the quiet of it all, very mind-bending, as you say. Learning that horror movies may not be Jessica's favourite, (mine neither!) here are three quirky and enjoyable comedies that are often neglected by reactors 🙂 So I don't spoil any of them, I won't name names, but all three feature a host of well known stars! I Heart Huckabees (2004) Indie philosophical comedy with an amazing cast Downsizing (2017) Sci-fi comedy that poses a very off-beat "what would you do?" to viewers Mr Right (2015) Action comedy that is slick and outside of the usual rom-com plots

However, Arrival is completely astonishing and the reactions are even more astonishing. So, all your thoughts were interesting and nicely said.

That was a great reaction! Thank you! I know the feeling, Mike … I had countless sleepless nights thinking “what is the meaning of that, or that, or that?” … I understand that Jessica wants to see something scary, or at least something to put her in a different mood … well, what comes to my mind is not scary but a tearjerker that definitely changes the mood of anyone who watches it, no matter how tough he (or she) is - “The Green Mile” (if you guys haven’t seen it already, that is). I’m only not sure if it should be watched right before a great comedy or right after - that is the only variable left up to the viewer … as the mood changing issue definitely remains for everyone. Anyway, if you haven’t seen it already, it would be an addition to your list you might want to consider. This film. I cry toward the end almost every time. This is, after all not a sci-fi, or action or thriller; it is about love - the deepest love there is.
I disagree: it’s sci-fi! Of the finest type! I think there a common misconception that sci-fi is all just about technology and fighting with aliens, but the best sci-fi can touch every aspect of human life. For reference I would cite two of the best Star Trek episodes: “City on the edge of forever” (TOS) and “The inner light” (TNG).
@@fabiorezzonico4426 Yeah, I hear you. It's sci-fi and one aspect of it is the deep love of the mother to her child... Also, thanks for the suggestions. (:
I agree. I think the alien story is just a vehicle to tell the real story, which is about how important the little time we get with our loved ones is, and how the journey is all we really have. The destination will always be the same.
The Language opens time. She does not see the future (or the past) she is there. Remember its not even Lost mindtravel. She exist or have existed in...or AT in, every point in her life. She can confine herself possibly, at one point, if not, she would go crazy. She does not remember she knows. Because she knows. Only equal is observers in Fringe.
I love good scifi. The story should move your mind into realms you have not previously considered. Maybe the old IQ even elevates a bit. This was good sci fi.
How did the ending not wreck you guys? As a parent to young kids, it absolutely destroys me more than anything in any other movie I've seen. How tragic, knowing all of the pain that was coming. And how heroic, to choose to go through it anyway in order to give Hannah the 15 or 16 years of life she got to enjoy and for all the moments they were able to spend together. I disagree completely with Ian; it was NOT the wrong choice.
Agreed, it was NOT the wrong choice. Also, regarding being wrecked, I guess you missed the beginning of my emotional empathy at 35:50, the MOMENT it was revealed that the "flashbacks" were actually "flash-forwards." Thanks for watching! (:

I did add "Attraction" to our movie list though. I'd like to hear a pitch of the movie in one sentence if you like. Have a great weekend. (:
@@BossMovieReactions - Attraction (Russian: Притяжение) is a 2017 Russian S/Faction film directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk. The plot revolves around an extraterrestrial spaceship crash-landing in the Chertanovo district of Moscow after being attacked by Russian Air Forces.
@@karlstanc4444 Oh, yes, I just looked it up on ImdbPro and I realized that I know about this movie. I even saw the trailer a long time ago. Looks very interesting. Of course, a reaction would only work with a dubbed version. Thanks for the info! (:
Uh, well remember General Shang told Louise that she called him 18 MONTHS earlier. She was still at the Army camp when she called him. Louise said in the voiceover that Hanna was born the day the Heptapods left. Hanna is a child in the scene where Louise takes the new book she wrote about the Heptapods language out of the box.(which means she wrote it AFTER they left). Hanna was 14 when she died according to the time frame. The world would ALREADY be saved more than 2 years before Hanna was born plus another 14 more would pass before she would die of cancer. Hanna wasn't sacrificed for anything. Sorry.
Movie makers, cine people, analyzing movies and all that, yet, you listen to movies on one earbud... You are missing half of the movie audio maker's work. PLEASE get buds for both of you !
Yeah, we had some major sync problems with our two earbuds, first it worked, then it didn't and we had to stop the movie, etc. so we got used to it. But I do get the full audio when I edit the movie. I hope you liked the rest of the video. ((:
the point is, even if louise know the future of her daughter ,she didnt aborted and let live her child,as human we have no right to decide who live and who dont have,we r not god.that what i get from movie end.
She said in Chinese (Mandarin): "General, I am on the American side. General, your wife sent me a message in my dream. You should show courage to help save the world. War does not make heroes. In war, there are no winners, there are only widows. »
I love it! Thank you so much for that extra info. And thanks for watching! (:
Wow thank you for the translation!!
Per a chinese linguist, the actual translation is "In war, there are no heroes, only orphans and widows."
Thanks! (:
Thank you.
The military didn't try to bomb the aliens. It was a rogue group of soldiers. This movie is absolutely brilliant! ♥
Oh, I see, I like that distinction! Thanks for pointing that out! (:
Very similar "Contact" with Jodie Foster
I love this movie. In many movies, knowing the plot twist takes away some of the impact for when you rewatch it. In this movie, knowing the plot twist adds to the impact.

"Does the daughter also see the future?" No, she's in the future, so it's the past to her.
Yeah, I guess that would be the non-linear existence, right? Thanks for watching and commenting. (:
I think its just as simple as "mommy told me the story about her and daddy speaking to these strange black tentacle looking animals and so i made it out of playdough for my school project" (which she mentioned)@@BossMovieReactions
@@nessmain6411 Yes, it could be as simple as that. Thanks for watching! (:
@@nessmain6411I think it's even Simpler than that - the Heptapods are a Huge part of history, they're not Secret by any means.
Part of the message of the film was Everyone(human And alien alike)coming together and they even noted that the Heptapods had their own flag now.
I'm willing to bet there are Heptapod plushies, emojis and happy meal toys.
Not only did China stand down, they were the first ones to actually embrace the Zero Sum Game, as the news report mentions that China will share all their info, which Heavily implies(if not out right states) that the rest of the world followed right after.
The Heptapods came in peace and brought the mankind together - it would not surprise me if all the nations interactions with the Heptapods are "now" available on TH-cam for the world to see
The Aliens said "there is no time"
I believe Louise's ability to perceive her life in a non-linear fashion allows her a significant advantage over Ian in terms of dealing with their daughter's illness and death. Subscribed!
Hi John, yes, you're making a great point and I agree. Thanks for watching, sharing, AND subscribing!! ((:

Yes, extremely thought-provoking. Loved it. Thanks for watching! (:
Hmm, interesting take. Not sure I agree but it's fun to think about!
Her Daughter's conversations help her breakthroughs and so also saves the world
SO DELIGHTED to see your Reaction....long awaited

When it's said that the heptapods told the Russians, "There is no time," and everyone interprets it as a threat or a sign to hurry… and they're literally trying to say that time doesn't exist to them
Yeah, good point. Just a "small" miscommunication with big consequences. Great movie. Thanks for watching! (:
The thing that Louise chose to do, was to fall pregnant & have Hannah,
her daughter, even still knowing that she wouldn't grow up into adulthood, & would pass away from a really rare disease.
Yep, I 100% agree. I addressed it again in my "Afterthoughts" video. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching! (:
@@BossMovieReactions The question that she answered wrong was literally the last two lines in the movie...
Ian: "Do you want to make a baby?"
Her response: "yeah... yes"
@@obelisk21 Yeah, I remember that. (:
[Verse 1]
Lookin' back on the memory of
The dance we shared, beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye
[Chorus]
And now, I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
[Verse 2]
Holding you, I held everything
For a moment, wasn't I the king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey, who's to say, you know I might have changed it all
[Chorus]
And now, I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
[Outro]
Yes, my life, it's better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

For instance, if you burn a Teflon pan, it'll kill a bird if they're too near it. Paint fumes, burning candles, and household chemicals that are in cleaning fluids like what you mop your floor with can also kill a bird, and it happens fast. Like depending on how near the kitchen the cage is, the Teflon scenario can kill a parakeet / budgie in 5-10 minutes.
Hi there, thanks for watching, and thanks for the excellent clarification regarding the canary. Very insightful. Thanks, we appreciate it! And I love your kitty icon! (:
@@BossMovieReactions Aww, thanks! And loved your reaction. Watching the afterthought video now. 🙂

This is one of the few regrets I never saw in the cinema... Denis' most amazing movie experience if you ask me and ever since Dune people started seeing him what kind of genius director and all his team are. Love your calm reactions guys, most couples are ao overreacting and annoying. I drank my morning coffee with you today and I almost teared up again from what this movie is....
Hi Dice, so happy to hear that we could join you for your morning coffee! Thanks for your kind words and thanks for watching! (:
I really like your reactions, keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your kind words! We appreciate it! (:
Mike is a looker. 😍 Yeah, I can imagine him in uniform. Rowr!
Haha, thank you very much, I'm blushing ((:
This might be a perfect movie
Yep, it's definitely up there! Thanks for watching! (:
Perhaps one of the most beautiful films that I go back to, must have seen it a dozen times :-) The story-telling is magnificent and I love the quiet of it all, very mind-bending, as you say. Learning that horror movies may not be Jessica's favourite, (mine neither!) here are three quirky and enjoyable comedies that are often neglected by reactors 🙂 So I don't spoil any of them, I won't name names, but all three feature a host of well known stars!
I Heart Huckabees (2004) Indie philosophical comedy with an amazing cast
Downsizing (2017) Sci-fi comedy that poses a very off-beat "what would you do?" to viewers
Mr Right (2015) Action comedy that is slick and outside of the usual rom-com plots
Yes, a beautiful and mind-bending movie indeed. Thank you for your suggestions, I just added them to our list. Thanks for watching! (:
@@BossMovieReactions :-) I suspect it would likely take several lifetimes to watch your entire list :-) I'm looking forward to watching your reaction to Interstellar next - an epic movie, indeed!
@@yzolakitchi Haha, yeah, I think it would currently require 16-18 years of watch-time. Enjoy, Interstellar, it's indeed an EPIC one!! (:
1500 ft. They are just a bit bigger than our largest aircraft carriers, but stood on end.
Yeah, that's big! (:
12:35 NASA has a plane named The Vomit Comet that simulates micro gravity you could fly on
Wow, cool, I think I've seen clips of that. Great stuff! Thanks for watching! (:
Never A Space Agency ???@mauro Biglino & the 5Th kind channels before @Spacebusters channel NASA Fan Boy Questions #1-#15.
The one space movie I urge you to react to my friends is the best space movie I have ever watched in my life and I'm 70 years old the name of the movie is called "Interstellar" it had me in tears it's that good plus the beautiful sound track by Hans Zimmer.❤
Hey, thanks for the recommendation, Michael. Interstellar was recommended by several people, so it's on the list! Yes, Hans Zimmer ROCKS!! Thanks for watching! (:
Great reaction guys. Keep it going.
Thank you!! And thanks for watching! We appreciate it! (:
Non zero sum game. (Clue) She gets the reference in the tent in the present so it can’t be the past where she gives her the answer to her query, as she would already be dead.
Well, there is no past or future, it's all the same. Just playing. ((:
you are about the tenth or 12th reaction video about Arrival I saw, and craaazily everybody saw the story slightly different and again with you, you found aspects in the story nobody said... it was something in the middle of the movie so now in the end, I forgot what you said, also, because there are so many aspects other reaction-youtubers said. However, Arrival is completely astonishing and the reactions are even more astonishing. So, all your thoughts were interesting and nicely said.
Hi Matt, thanks for the feedback and thanks for sharing the experience you got from other reactors. Very interesting indeed that everybody saw it slightly differently. I might even elaborate more in my "Afterthoughts" video (th-cam.com/video/Cff1f3SeJ7M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OYmRIxUAhRB2qtfm) -- A fantastic movie for sure! Thanks, for watching!! (:
What a great movie . This movie is in my TOP 5 Inception , Arrival, Annihilation Tenet The Prestige
Great, I added the movies that weren't on our list! Thanks for your suggestions! (:
Louise does not "see the future", the concept of time dissolves for her. Its a expansion in perception.
Yeah, agreed! (:
the bird in the cage reminded me of Silent Hill. thats a strange one! its a horror. very creepy. it was a video game originally. highly recommended. starring Sean Bean and Radha Mitchell.
Thanks, Gallo, I added it to our list! (:
Please watch Shutter Island and The Game from 1997. These are my two favourite movies ever. I also love Arrival so much and I loved your reaction. Instantly subscribed😊
Thank you so much for watching and commenting AND subscribing! We appreciate it! I put your suggestions on our list. Thanks! (:
That was a great reaction! Thank you!
I know the feeling, Mike … I had countless sleepless nights thinking “what is the meaning of that, or that, or that?” …
I understand that Jessica wants to see something scary, or at least something to put her in a different mood … well, what comes to my mind is not scary but a tearjerker that definitely changes the mood of anyone who watches it, no matter how tough he (or she) is - “The Green Mile” (if you guys haven’t seen it already, that is). I’m only not sure if it should be watched right before a great comedy or right after - that is the only variable left up to the viewer … as the mood changing issue definitely remains for everyone. Anyway, if you haven’t seen it already, it would be an addition to your list you might want to consider.
On a side note, as I heard Jessica saying she likes military outfits, I think it would be amazing if you guys would have the occasion to someday visit the alley of angels - the whole background is also a huge mood changer … here is just a little taster of what such an experience would bring: th-cam.com/video/tCcEAUp6N8A/w-d-xo.html
Again I thank you for your great reaction and I am looking forward to the next one.
With huge respect, admiration and consideration, from your Romanian brother …
Hello brother, thanks for watching again and sharing your thoughts. I have definitely heard of "The Green Mile" and it's already on our list. Also, thanks for sharing the music video, a beautiful song with beautiful children and very sad footage. Thanks for your kind words. (:
The Spitfire Grill by Stephen King is more dramatic deals more about broken people too.
One of the better recent movies (I’m 73 so ‘recent’ is somewhere around 2000 and up.)
Yes, I agree with you! Thanks for watching! (:
She translated Mandarin earlier in the movie
Yep, 100% correct. I realized it when I was editing and I mentioned it in my "Afterthoughts" video. Thank you! (:
@@BossMovieReactions No worries, fun reaction!
Thx! (:
You want to experience weightlessness but will not fall with a plane to create 0 G's..? They're the same thing! (The canary was used before detection devices were invented) But, you're so right!
Thanks for sharing, Georux! (:
One of my favorite movies
Yeah, I can see why! Thanks for watching! (:
I have temporal lobe epilepsy, gives me extreme dejavu, time literally flashes forward and repeats. First time I watched this.. 😳😲
Oh, boy, sorry to hear. Sounds quite serious. I learned that temporal lobe epilepsy is an enduring brain disorder that causes unprovoked seizures from the temporal lobe. Temporal lobe epilepsy is the most common type of focal onset epilepsy among adults. -- Wishing you healing!! And thanks for watching! (:
@@BossMovieReactionsI wasnt diagnosed until 32 so spend many years wondering. When I watched this first time it hit hard, I had to google if the writer was epileptic.
@@dazparry1580 Yeah, I never even heard of such a thing. Hope you're okay and thanks for sharing. (:
@@BossMovieReactionssorry for taking up your time, I wasnt hoping for sympathy, you just seemed indulged in this concept. The moment where Louise studies the language with a pen and ruler and sees her daughter with a centipede the same shape. A vision of a future flashback.. That's how my dejavus feel. I'll subscribe, see you on your next reaction, if you want a good one, hope you haven't watched 'the revenant' yet. Love from Wales. ✌
@@dazparry1580 Hi there, yeah, I didn't think you were hoping for sympathy, not the way you were sharing your experience. Thanks for watching and thanks for subscribing. Also, I put the REVENANT on our list, heard interesting things about it. Thanks! (:
i think the "choice" was that she told him that their daughter will die.
Hello npc, yes, you're absolutely right. I elaborated on it a bit more in my "Afterthoughts" video, but you're right. What a great movie. Thanks for watching! (:
This film. I cry toward the end almost every time. This is, after all not a sci-fi, or action or thriller; it is about love - the deepest love there is.
Hi Charles, yes, I think this argument can be made. One aspect would definitely be the deep love of the mother to her child... Thanks for watching! (:
@@Steelburgh Noted! Thanks for watching! We appreciate it! (:
The Language opens time. She does not see the future (or the past) she is there.

every point in her life.
She can confine herself possibly, at one point, if not, she would go crazy.
She does not remember she knows. Because she knows.

I love good scifi. The story should move your mind into realms you have not previously considered. Maybe the old IQ even elevates a bit. This was good sci fi.
Haha, yes, the old IQ got challenged with this one. Loved it! (:
DE-MO-LI-TION 😅

A similar movie to this is Annihilation with Natalie Portman, I recommend.
That one is on our list. Thanks, Jonathan! (:
You missed a lot, probably should watch it again.
I probably will. Thanks for watching and commenting! We appreciate it! (:
The choice was to have the kid even if she knew she would die young. The father didn't agree with her choice to go on that path.
Yep, agreed! 100%. Thanks for watching! (:
I like your reactions. Would you consider the Russian S/F movie: Attraction?…
Thank you, Karl. We would consider any movie that sounds promising, but our list has grown to over 600 movies by now, which would take us literally over 12 years to watch... Thanks for watching and commenting! We appreciate it! (:
@@BossMovieReactions - Thank you for taking time and kindly replying to me. I appreciate it. Let me ask you: How many Russian movies are on your 600 movie list?… And how many Polish men recommended you to watch a Russian movie?…
@@karlstanc4444 Hi Karl, as far as I know, you are the first one to point to a Russian movie. We have suggestions for Italian movies, French movies, and Australian movies, etc., but I don't think we have any Russian movies on our list. That in itself makes your suggestion interesting.

Thank you so much for watching and commenting! We appreciate it!
Sorry.
@@8RBrain Agreed, Brain! 🙂👍
Movie makers, cine people, analyzing movies and all that, yet, you listen to movies on one earbud... You are missing half of the movie audio maker's work. PLEASE get buds for both of you !
